- This is a retro reproduction of the ABC television broadcast, from the night of October 28th, 1979. It's time again to pop some popcorn and turn out the lights.... I'm inviting you to take a trip.... back to 1979.

My father passed away just two months later. Thank you for the bringing back good memories though!!! God bless!!!
Uh, and your father was.... who??
I remember watching this as a child. My parents were laughing constantly- and now watching it as an adult, I recognise the humor. All my parents kept saying afterwards was ‘itty bitty bat, itty bitty bat, itty bitty bat . . . ‘ and chuckling nonstop. 😎😜👍🏻
Yeah this was awesome I was 5 years old and I actually remember watching this on television when it came on when he turned into the little bitty bitty bat that's hilarious
Such a better time in our country All the commercials everybody's white and I'm not meaning that a racial way I'm just saying the country at that point was probably 90% white so of course most of the people on TV should be white we're still 65 70% white now we got to apologize if you show a white person on television I'm just so sick of that I love seeing all white people in the commercials and the shows
Remember the movie "Love at First Bite?"
I remember televisions that had a turn-dial as a kid.
1979---That's when I saw this for the first time! It was HILARIOUS!!!!
I always loved this special! "Teeny tiny bat! Teeny tiny bat! Teeny tiny bat..."
"Oh, you like tap-dancing? I'll give YOU tap dancing!" (stomp, stomp!)
"Ahahahaha!" **Whap whap whap whap whap**
“What are we gonna do-0oooooo?!??!” 😂😂😂
I STILL quote this regularly, but no one ever knows what I’m howling about. lol
omg this was my absolute favorite as a kid I'm so happy
This was an amazing blast from the past. Thanks for posting it, commercials and all!
Thanks so much! Wonderful blast from the past, commercials and all.
ahhhh, Fall, 1979, I was 14, just starting high school, it was a cool time
This is awesome, great scting, great writing, great costumes!! Miss days when passion for true entertainment was paramount. Great upload, thank you!@
This was so bad and yet I could not have enjoyed it more!! I loved that you left the commercials in too. That was a rough year for me, don’t recall seeing this special at the time. Thank you for the fun !🧡🖤🧡
I remember loving and playing with play-do as a kid.
This is awesome. I have never seen it so it was truly a treat. Happy Halloween you to and thank you for a wonderful share!!
Love the nostalgia this invokes. I was born in 87 but growing up in the 90s presented all the gems from the early years as well. Seems today none of the early years or enjoyed but a glimpse of the 90s and early 2000s
Mariette Hartley is from the town I'm from and went to the same school system.
John Shuck must have liked dressing up as the Frankenstein Monster because he'd later go on to play Herman Munster.
When life was worth living.
Exactly our country and all of our customs are being destroyed by all this immigration I don't know why nobody wants to admit that you're called racist for saying that You're called some kind of phobe lol they'll add some word to it islamophobe this phobe that phobe lol I'm just so sick of this I want our country to be based around European judeo Christian values and people again
I was 6 when this aired on tv. I dont remember this special but I DO remember an announcer voice saying we will be right back before commercials aired and then saying now back to our show. I also remember one commercial, R2D2 toy. What a time warp. Lol.
This is funnier than most horror 'comedies' of the last 40 years. A work of art.
I remember watching this and I thought it was okay and thought it
had a great cast with Judd Hirsch, Mariette Hartley, John Schuck,
Henry Gibson and Jack Riley along with the classic television commercials
that was shown with it Thanks for the Memories.👻📺👻
Shout out to ROM
DIRE WRAITHS. 'nuff said.
I got one for Christmas.
Thank you for uploading this video, I totally missed out on this show. I was 9 years old when it aired, and I loved it!!!
The Young Frankenstein reference at 11:05. 😆
Thanks for sharing this. This was cute to watch. This was 4 years before I was born. I liked it amd i remember the Halloween, I dressed up as Eyore lol and learned how Halloween got its name. Happy Spooky season everyone 🎃🧡👻Love the disco scene at the end. Sat night fever lol
I've seen this show several times on Halloween 🎃 on TV and now they are on TH-cam I can see this event every Halloween 👻 Mariette Hartley made a great witch 🧹 and Judd Hersh was great as Dracula Henry Gibson was perfect as Igor
Dr. Shrinker!
So...Mariette Hartley got to tell off Dracula...seduce Spock...marry the Incredible Hulk...and visit both the Twilight Zone AND the Night Gallery. Not to mention hosting the CBS Morning News. She did pretty good for herself.
Disco party! 😂😂😂😂😂
🪩 💃 👻
Back before the world totally went to hell in a hand basket. I really miss those days.
you live in a sad world. who teaches you to live a life of fear? I love you man. love your neighbors and we can go from there. There's good days to come. here's looking at ya.
wicked funny
I need a Ouija Board to ask my parents permission! 🪦👻 At almost 48 I hope I'm old enough to watch🤣😹. Thank you for sharing📺
Mariette Hartley is an awesome witch.
THIS KIDS MOVIE. WAS GOOD. THE MAIN ACTORS. HAD FUN DOING.
I wonder how many kids painted Sweetie Face to look like one of the members of KISS. 😂
Thats a great Kelloggs corn flakes commercial. And tony i
Bruce Bilson directed episodes of "Get Smart."
Henry Gibson - The voice of Wilbur the Pig Charlotte's Web, the Illinois Nazi leader Blues Brothers. Jack Riley - The voice of Stu Pickles Rugrats, Elliot Carlin, The Bob Newhart Show.
20:53 the Three Musketeers
240-ROBERT
The sounds that the remote controlled R2D2 makes sound nothing like the movie version. 😅
Yeah that noise probably irritated at least a few parents.
Could have sworn that was Arte Johnson as Igor.............Anyway,I was 8 at the time and have no recollection of this special......Of course ABC was often too "snowy"/staticky on our TV set to watch anything, but I`m sure here in Maine we never saw this one....
God damn enough commercials huh.
At the TIME , WE used to look forward to some ad breaks , WE couldn't PAUSE , SO adverts were more VALUED , IT was a chance to make a cuppa or go to the toilet w/o missing the movie.
Can you ride over the moon: TRX, TRX! NOTHING WORSE THAN A WOMAN WITH A BIG TRUCK!?
This is awesome seeing the toys from Star Wars that was out back. Then I had to get these other kids. I stole them from cause I grew up on the main street of the south side of Chicago in the ghetto.
I’ve waited since last October 31. I watched this Halloween night 2023 to watch this again. I was gonna wait till October 1 but spooky season is already began in my home so I’m watching it tonight. This just brings back the greatness of the country we used to have seen these commercials now everybody’s a hodgepodge of Black people dating white people. Every black guy has an Asian wife you ever know it’s on the commercials and I’m not being racist getting but they’re just Portrayed something. That’s not reality. I want my America back that was black and white people and that’s what lived here. We didn’t have all these people from 28 different countries that hate the place that they come to. This was America. This was Halloween and this was awesome when I was a kid. I watched this every yearcame on WGN from Chicago cause I’m from the south side of Chicago homeboy. I was knocking fools out from the day I was five years old.
Well put. 56 and disgusted.
doesn't matter how much makeup was used, Mariette couldn't be ugly at the time if she tried lol.
I WAS THINKING ABOUT THIS MOVIE... J.H. MADE A 😂 VAMPIRE. & M.H. DID A GOOD PLAYING THE WITCH. HIM&HER BEGIN A COUPLE!!!
Back when people actually pronounced Halloween correctly- not "Hollow-een"!
Can I fast-forward through this, and watch Mork & Mindy?😃
I was 8. A more simple, better time.
Back when commercials actually had White people in them
When you grow up on the south side of Chicago knocking out nizzles you watch this growing up when you grow up in the Windy City before I was knocking dudes out
