- This path was extremely hard for me and very steep in places with some off camber large slippy algae covered rocks in places which combines with my lack of skills and confidence plus the added risk of being on my own tested my resolve to continue down this one . I set off in the heat of the day for this solo explore on the Cannondale motterra 3 neo carbon and a very well worn front Maxxis DHF tyre it wasn't one of my best idea's but there again even at my age I haven't gained much sense. part one part 2 is on video # 763
its name on Trailforks is "Slimey Gulley" and i had rather off there myself a few weeks back the section you pushed down, in fact ive only ever stayed upright there one single time and it was bone dry!!
Wow I'm glad I didn't try and ride it. Everywhere is still worse than mid winter at the moment , I've got very nervous at anything that looks in the slightest bit slippy like that I couldn't even see anything like an edge to ride into to try and gain a bit of support also the grass growing over the edges was hiding the extent of the slabs, You are doing great to ride down there I think your skills are far greater than mine for riding that path, I really don't have the ability at the moment and the last thing I need is another big off and putting my confidence even further back.I know if i am not fully committed I'm more likely to fail but its hard at my age to get my big boy pants on and just send it lol
I thought I was headed down towards Great ford I hadn't really looked properly, a lot of the paths near Satterthwaite I really need to be following someone thru as I'm not good at seeing lines quickly as I ride
@@kryten1021 i have a funny photo of me in a heap on the floor there, and an even funnier video of my brother going straight OTB !! there's 2 other trails starting from the same fire road in-between the start of slimey gulley and breasty haw descent, one with no name starts behind a section of fence you have to get off and push round, another one identified by strava as "twisting my melons" starts by a little wooden statue, both trails finish in the same car park area as breasty haw descent
@@boypike25 Thanks thats all good to know for if I get more adventourous 🙂. I think I think might have seen a video of one of them, one of my mates will probably know them as two of them have a far higher skillset than I have and theyve ridden that area off piste as well and I'm sure one of them has mentioned those before. I'm a relatively late comer to mountain biking and lacking bravery and skillset at the moment but I'm trying to learn also I've seen on one video someone joining from above on to what I would call the last section dropping down to the end car park . Theres some between the Cross and Breasty Haw end car park as well possibly as the trail riders have been off piste very near The cross or deer gate the next car park along headed in Esthwaite direction at some point I'll hopefully get there
