Bummed to hear you’ve been so sick but love the update. I finally went back to playing Smalland after playing it like 1 or 1.5 years ago and am loving the updated game so much! I’ve been appreciating knowing what’s up with the updates because of your videos.

Thanks for the update! I like the canopy, travelling changed especially for early game. The new armour is awesome and I love my new tame. It's name is Hackslash 😊 It behaves a bit weird, running away when you try and pet it or getting down from a ride. But its climbing abilities are wild! It's great that we don't have to use the traps. We'll see what the raids feel like in a new game with new character. One strange thing happened: I took out my bird for a quick round and crossed the stream to the playground - and the bird of prey killed me although that should be done and over with. I did take the elixir. Ob the second round it didn't appear. *shrugs* Thanks again and hope you feel better soon! Take care 🌻
PS One thing I really wished they would fix: teamed animals in your party being on top of you when you wake up/log in if you forget to click "leave party" before going to sleep or logging out. It's such a pain to get them out again! For the bird I end up dismantling walls...
Oh yeah, for the love of OWL, please fix this! I shove Skybird's big butt through the tiny door and it isn't a pleasant experience for either of us, haha!

Yes, I love the new way you can traverse the Smallands now - I'm interested in seeing how it works early game in my Season 2 world. I noticed that weird behavior as well from the Mantis - it was not doing that before. I have to see it climbing because that didn't work right in the Public Test phase. One day, my good friend CLR (not irl, I don't know her personally) will learn to dodge roll. When that glorious day comes, no longer will she be 2-shot by an elite mantis because they will not be able to hit her! But alas, till then.... Anyway, good episode CLR. There are 4 mantises that spawn at the location you showed. And the other locations are to the south and west, as far from the great trees as you can get. Look for lichen growing next to green-shelf mushrooms.

The eggs are not for all the tames in the game; they're only for aggressive tames. Passive tames such as ladybugs, grasshoppers, butterflies, moths & fireflies do not drop eggs. Also birds, boss critters, ancient frogs, frogs, vipers and wasp queens for obvious reason. And there's currently a glitch where green beetles only drop waterbug eggs and dawn ants don't drop eggs at all. We're waiting for the hot fix. But until then, you can only collect 31/33 eggs. Edit: You can tame everything except boss critters, ancient frogs, frogs, vipers and wasp queens. Everything else is tamable. But with the new incubator system, mantises cannot be tamed using traps. You have to incubate their eggs.
Yes, I realized during editing that it wasn't a complete list of the tames, but it covers a good majority of them. That is such a weird bug with the green beetle - how in the world did you figure that out? Thanks for all the info. I appreciate learning from the Smalland community. Sometimes it is hard to find info on the game and I am but 1 CLR., so getting feedback from you all really helps me and those who watch the videos get accurate information. @@CLRgamingRN I hunted a lot of green beetles, trying to get their eggs, and they only drop waterbug eggs. I've been playing Smalland for about 3 years now and a lot of online players know me. I like to give out gear, items and materials to other players, especially new players.
Hey Spacecowboy, I heard there is a bug with the Green Beetle not dropping their eggs (instead they are dropping the waterbug eggs - weird), hopefully they will fix that soon. That's awfully nice of you helping out other players, especially the new ones. Yes, that’s what I am talking about. Truthfully, Ground intimidates me - seems like a lot going on. Plus the spiders! At least in Smalland they are mostly confined to Spiderland, not running amuck like Grounded, haha!
The trick to beating the red mantis during the event is to parry it. You only need to successfully parry 1 time and you should be able to beat it handily. And you can't tame any mantises by using traps.

@@CLRgamingRN That definitely seems like the right way to go, tanking hits with your nose, but it's not as effective as one might think. The problem for me is that I'm a veteran player with max physical stats and high-end gear. So I tend not to even bother parrying when fighting as it only tends to make fights last longer. But when I'm on a server with boosted stats for critters and/or with several other players on, I end up dying 2-3 times taking on the red mantis. With the Crafting Update, iron ammo suddenly became extremely time and materials intensive to craft so I've pretty much stopped using my hand cannon. I need to change that habit.
I hope console gets it quickly (the Update notes just say soon but doesn't specify when). I am truly enjoying this update and I hope since they did the public test - it is released with little to no bugs. Thank you Crockpot, I hope you are well, and you have a great day. Thanks for all the support!
@@CLRgamingRN The timeline seems to be about a week after PC, unfortunately there are huge bugs on console that doesn't allow any of the new content to really be used in other people's servers, this being a rather large one is worrisome IMO. Fingers crossed!
I wish they'd have made the mantis gear end game strength. I like it but to weak for late game. Wish they'd make it so you can upgrade any armor to late game strength so we could wear whatever we like best and still be protected.

If you don't want to use the incubator you can go out and capture all of the creatures with the traps. So now there are 2 ways to tame. I hope they release this update for you console peeps soon. My first tame is a mantis I overdid it with the spikes. I didn't have to fight any of the mantis seen how it was my first tame and now I'm almost have the whole thing for the armor and I do have another mantis to egg
Wow! Mantis as your first tame?! That’s awesome. They are such good fighters, especially early game. I love the look of the Mantis armor as well, one of my favorite sets. It’s pretty strong too for a lot of the early game. Good luck in finishing the set!
@@CLRgamingRN it wasn't my first attempt at a tame I saw I can build an incubator put an egg in I didn't know it came with a raid let's just say I waited till I was lvl 20 to do it again and I saw your video
Ohhh, I see! Yes, that Mantis raid can be quite the handful. Smart idea to wait until you were a higher level. We lost our brave gecko to a fly raid… so yeahhhh. Watch out for those raids, haha!
Hello Scott! The Red Mantis is one of the random World Events that happen. As far as I am aware, that is the only way to find it. (World Events take place every 20 mins.) I hope that helps, if not please let me know. Good luck with the Red Mantis Battle!
And as always, nothing for consoles. By now, many of us have blacklisted Merge Games because of their contempt for console gamers. “But that way, PC gamers are beta testers”, they say... And updates come out completely buggy on consoles... I don't really see the point of this update, apart from the praying mantis, the armor and the weapon (and even then)... Raids... When you've spent hours building your base, you don't want to see it destroyed, especially when you've also got buildings on the branches... So it's a good thing they left the traps in. The praying mantis in events? There's no point until the faction system is overhauled. And we're still waiting for the promised new biomes...Thanks for the video ! Hey Patricia, please forgive the late response. Aww, I don't believe Merge Games has contempt for console players. I do know there is more red tape to go through when adding or editing updates to the game on console then there is on PC (Sony has to approve certain things before they will push an update through, for example). I do believe there is a lack of knowledge and research on their part, on how console works, and I wish they would "figure it out," so to speak, because like you mentioned they are going to alienate a lot of console players. I see what you are saying, but I rather enjoyed this update. I believe it's more beneficial for when you are starting out then it is late game. I also like the new way you can traverse the Smallands (you don't have to travel solely on the ground). I am glad that they left the traps in as well. Especially after testing the raid in this video - the creatures are definitely doing a lot more damage to structures and it would be horrible to lose your base to these raids. I agree with you completely about the Faction System needing an overhaul. I talk about it in my Faction video, but it's ridiculous, and it is a big reason why I have not leveled up with any faction. For example, that Elite Mantis should not be worth the same number of points as the Ant Event. New biomes seem far off, but I will try to remain hopeful and positive.
