Thanks for this! I tried using wrist wraps today and realised after watching this I was wrapping it around the bar the wrong way going over-under, rather than under-over. Bar kept slipping and trying to rolls out my hand as I lifted it and I knew it was doing something wrong but couldn’t figure it out 😂
@@TomPetoTraining worked great 👍🏼. Transferred to conventional deadlifts from trap bar. Doing well now with them. Was told the reverse grip can strain by bicep.
A lot of them are similar. Make sure they aren’t too short and personally I don’t really like the ones with extra padding on. Yes these are good though.
If you do a long set of Romanian deadlifts or dumbbells row your grip can tire before your hamstring or back muscles meaning a good forearm workout but sub-optimal workout for muscles you are trying to target. Basically makes it easier to hold onto the bar.
@@TomPetoTrainingDo people use these with dumbbells as well? I found they help me a lot a lot when doing RDLs and barbell rows (and even deadlifts if I'm trying to do many reps or my hands are super sweaty) - but sometimes my grip is my limiting factor when I'm doing 10+ reps on things like dumbbell chest flies, dumbbell rows, dumbbell rdls... etc. Seemd to me like the exact same principles would apply. Although most probably I need to strengthen my forearms and work on my form - but the difference straps made (as far as what my max reps and weight is) with the barbell stuff is so immense that I wanna try them with dumbbells as well, particulalry since my dumbbell grip with heavy weight just seems to be really screwy. But I never see anybody else do that.
When grip is failing before your target muscle, (e.g back muscle on single are dumbbell row) you can wear straps to get an optimum back workout. I know forearms won’t get as good workout but if that wasn’t the intention of the sessions that shouldn’t matter.
I bought them without understanding how to use them… It’s been 5 months without me knowing how to use them. I thought u should put the hand in with the bar at first..😅 But now I know. And I’ll use them like you did. Thanks haha
@TomPetoTraining thanks. Yeah I think i realized I've been doing it kinda wrong. I've seen other people do it, they only wrap it once so there's less distance between their hand and the bar. It's actually more snug that way. I saw that new world strongest man, the bald guy with the half British, half south African accent or something lol, he said there's a whole other way strong men wrap it that looks really cool. It goes around from outside the wrist instead of between your thumb and index. Idk it's strange. Gonna try it tonight.

Question, I also see people just let go at the top of the deadlifts, is that ok bc they didn’t wrap as many times?
Yes, I prefer wrapping more so can’t do that. Just one loop round and you could let go though
@ Thank you and yes I’m with you, I rather bring it back down and not just let go in the midst of bracing so hard! Lol
Got any recommendations for good padded straps? I have skinny hands and the ones I use are just webbing that cuts into the back of my hand as I lift.

I need wraps for my 25's barbell deadlift.

Hi, may i know the function of using straps?

@@SquareNoggin yes used for dumbbells all the time. Especially DB RDL & single arm DB Row. Not so much dumbbell flies though.

What is the benefits to use this wrist straps during workout like dead lifts and other……?????

thx I'm starting using these I have a condition arthritis in my fingers can't grabbed properly anymore
Hope this helps
Do they get fastened by lifting and hurt wrists??....like when lifted do they tighten themselves?... Or versa grips are better
Some are padded if you have sensitive skin but they don’t really hurt your wrists
Use mine all the time and wrist straps for pressing.
Very nice vídeo! Thanks

thanks for the reminder G 👍🏻

Using this burns my hands because of the friction..is it normal? Shouldn't I squeeze?
Not really normal no, you don’t have to squeeze very hard. And maybe you have them on too loose
That was very helpful and quick. Thank you
Thanks
Is there anything for handicap?
What handicap?
Thanks bro
You’re welcome 💪🏼
You look like Guy Fava. I love Guy Fava.
😂
What happen when you drop the bar???
You don’t really drop the bar with straps, lower to floor and release at bottom
Wish it was that easy
Just like tying shoelaces, gets easy with repetition
@@TomPetoTraining thanks for the encouragement ok ill practice lol! Wrists getting sore with heavy dumbbells mostly! 😪
Can you not use wrist straps with an alternative grip?
You could but can’t see why you would
Awesome thanks for that 😊Jane
Ended up my most successful short so far! Any more gym questions let me know?

Should we still wearing glove while using this strap?
No! Decide what is the best for you, strap or glove
Probably would make using straps a little tricks and wouldn’t benefit wearing gloves also
can you do this with benchpress too?
It wouldn’t help at all
What is the one on the back?
?
I.. really expected these to negate my grip more. 😅 not much. I was hoping to take out grip almost 95% so i could really burn my back out on rows.
You should be able to hold very lightly if using them correctly

So glad I didn’t have to sit through a 30s intro. Thank you
👌🏼
Shouldn’t you be reversing the second wrap around to lock the first wrap
Not sure what you mean but the way demonstrated in video works great with no issues
This was harder than tying to shoe for some reason
😂
Won’t your hands pop out of the socket?😮
Not so far
Keeping it simple like this sometimes is what gets a subscribe 🫡
👌🏼
I need more help lmao I swear I have learning difficulties
😂 I’d definitely teach it at a slower pace in person but shorts demands short content!
Doesn't this put alot of strain on wrist?
Not really, maybe a little rough on skin with cheap thin straps but feels fine
wearing a ring while deadlifting is crazy
Adrenaline seeker
I don't know why I struggle using these straps. When I do get them on right it feels uncomfortable lifting
You can buy some with a bit extra wrist padding so it doesn’t dig in
