- "The Fear Gauge" the 2nd episode of the lost Season 3 of Wall Street Warriors - a 10-part Docu-Reality Series that was shot on Wall Street during the meltdown that lead to The Great Recession. Episode 1 starts with rumors of an impending crisis... by episode 10 there are near riots outside the New York Stock Exchange.
"The Fear Gauge"
We meet Philip's wife and kids as he prepares for his morning commute to Wall Street. The markets are in turmoil but he's got to help feed the kids while contemplating his stock positions.
In the Chicago outcry pits, Ben discusses how trading volatility (VIX) is a unique way to make money. Known as "the fear gauge," volatility gives Ben a unique perspective on the pulse of the market. And moments later, almost as an example, Ben gets in a screaming match with another trader.
Next, Rich has lunch at the famous Tavern on the Green with a beautiful Russian investment banker, Natalia. They both have ulterior motives for the meeting. Natalia tries to convince Rich to bring in his investors into a Russian oil deal while Rich tries to get her to share her wealthy contacts in Arabia.
Tony, the options trader, goes back to visit his colleagues at the CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange). He discusses how trading evolved from open outcry to electronic and shows us how he now trades at the world famous "trading wall" that looks more like a NASA control room.
Later, we find out Phil and Ken have been having problems keeping their office assistants. The last one couldn't take the stress and quit in tears. So, today, they have a new interviewee, Beth. She's an artist, and out of place on Wall Street, but Ken sees something in her and wants to hire her. Phil thinks it's a bad idea.

Watching this 2008 show in 2021 dec. Its nostalgic to see the old phone and Ferrari with gears.

Running this show again. The best thing about season 3 was Think or Swim and the CBOE trader by far.
They had a really good show going here. If only they had the conviction to stay the course, it would've been priceless to document the historic turnaround of the current bull market, analyse bitcoin, and predict the future.
The public hates anyone associated with the finance industry in bad recessions so im not surprised.

Brisard & Brisard closed down for selling unregistered securities to unsuspecting investors... Based on what I've read, the most amount of market knowledge they've had was on this show! In reality they had no idea what they were doing. Wow.. To think I looked up to them when I first saw this show. Philip could be in jail now, who knows....

This show was too kind to the two brothers. They are the guys you see in the movie Boiler Room. Their job is to convince you to give them a large percentage of your investment and then tell you it's no big deal that your life savings has been wiped out. That's why their secretary was crying and quit because of stress. She had to be the buffer.
