I've never heard anyone do vibrato so extreme but so well like this guy. It's not easy to do so and still maintain the correct note and tone. Great band!
I can really imagine this being Mephisto's theme song if this were in a disney movie. Hope no one takes offense to that, not saying that the lyrics are childish, rather they are so lively that I can just picture it going along with some glorious animation.
I want so badly for them to remake this song with some more modern sounds. This album through to The Black Halo is the best interpretation of Faust I have ever heard. When I was in high school I did my final project on it in literature class and I inspired an entire group of kids that literature can be found in many places and interpreted in many different ways. Masterful song.
To think that Khan was so freaked out by his own music that he quit the band and became a man of God-- it's a shame, but also makes this song that much more interesting in retrospect!
@@tylerbutler2813 he got burnt out by all the touring and travelling and wanted to spend more time with his family, he's back to performing again with the band he was in before Kamelot, Conception.
I remember when I saw Kamelot a few months ago with Fabio. They played this song, my favorite Kamelot song, and I was heartbroken because it was then I realized that Khan was really gone. Without Khan, there won't be a Kamelot for me. I know that the others are great musicians, but Khan's voice made me fall in love with the band. He's the best singer I've ever heard; live and on cd.
In the final chorus he actually sings in what sounds like pretty damn high notes and there it is not whispered. Anyway this song is magic for me even before first verse starts :D
A Z yeah because it is the very climax of the song and He (the devil) obviously wants you to remember it for good :D Yeah and Feast for the Vain also ;) Lost and Damned is the apex of the album :D

This band is great, I actually found it by browsing for simone simons. Being a fan of symphonic rock I have to say I enjoy this band as much as I enjoy Sirenia, nightwish, after forever, era and epica. And if any of you know more bands of this or simulair genre please let me know.
Symphony X of the Odyssey and V--The New Mythology Suite era should be very pleasing to you then; or if you're looking for something more obscure and with female vocals, Stream of Passion's 1st 2 albums and Transcend--Deliver Us From Evil should fit the bill.
For the record, I actually really like this song. It's well sung, the vocals are great... it's definitely something I imagine the Lord of All Evil singing.
@smoresandhoney it is a story, it's based on Goethe's "Faust", where Mephisto(or Mephistopheles) a devil character is tempting Ariel(or Faust) with giving him whatever he wants in life in exchange for his soul. It's changed a bit from the original story but similar. So yeah it's a story. I like that they devoted two albums to that story.
yeah best thing about this group is that its not the same old crap every time like every other band these days, every song is unique and awesome in its own way kinda :P
@Ygdrasel Khan for Kamelot is like Tarija for Nightwish. Music is still amazing, but it is not the same anymore. BTW, I'm going to Kamelot concert soon, so we'll see! I saw Khan live, he was one of the BEST singers to perform live and mind you I've seen MANY. I hope that the concert would be good!!!
@christanmusiczordude please, listen the 2 albuns,"epica" and "the black halo" before comment like this...that's based on the story of Goethe's Faust,no offense intended
@Ygdrasel Well for me Khan's voice made the band special to me. It made it stick out from all the other bands in the genre. I didn't say that Kamelot is bad, they are good, but Khan's amazing voice gave them, for me, something extra. It's Khan who made me listen to the band in the first place and now he's gone, I don't have a reason to like Kamelot more then the other bands in this genre. I still like Nightwish, but with Tarja there was more magic and I liked them better back then.
Actually... I've been looking for The Shadow Of Uther from the album The Fourth Legacy... if u could upload it i'd be very gratefull :) Its my favorite song from them and no1 uploads it so i cant find it :(
