Hey, buddy. The machine you purchased is really good. To clean the machine, I usually use sodium hydroxide and hot water at a concentration of 5%. Wear protective clothing and a mask. After completion, rinse again with clean water. Believe me, just $2 can solve the problem.
Thanks for the info 🙏
That was really awesome watching you again scoring big like this! Mann, what a find! A machine where you practically have nothing to do on, just clean! Congrats!
Thanks for the support and comment. 🙏
Yes you able to drip feed
FYI:
The MPG Wheel does not tell the tale if a machine is accurate. Yes, it's good that it moves approximately. 001 per click but the real test is to see how the machine repeats. Set an indicator up in the spindle and use a fixed point on a vise or fixture and zero the indicator and the axis. Jog away from the zero and then program a rapid or feed back to zero. That will show you best if the machine is tight and can repeat the position. And remember: Everything is rubber! It all flexes somewhat.
Keep em coming!😊
🙏
Purple power for general grime, diesel for removing wax deposits. Tell tale of synthetic coolant, machine has no paint left inside and is covered in what looks like ear wax. Sign of a machine from Fl, rusty everywhere...
Had a customer with one of these that they were replacing with a new vf4. Was an older machine than this though, early to mid 90’s I think. Was a VF0 I think. He said I could have it if I wanted it. The operator said they should’ve kept as it ran great and still made good parts. Unfortunately I had no where to put it and it went to the scrapyard. Made me shed a tear as I would’ve loved having that machine to play around with. Had the old crt screen and an umbrella tool changer.
Dang!!! What a shame it went to scrap. Unfortunately that happens to a lot of good machinery. Companies make their money off them and throw them away.
@@prestigemanufacturing2611 that’s exactly what he said. That machine made us a lot of money and it’s time to go. They had it since new

Now I'm crying!
😢
I need ANY machine right now.
Hot bought one and I'm paying for storage at the moment if it was free I definitely would have put it in storage
I’ve been cleaning up my used okuma, and using micro fibers and APC/quick detailer is working but taking forever. I’ve been afraid to use anything solvent based since I don’t want to dull the paint. The over cleaner idea is fantastic. Thanks!
Definitely man. I’ve used everything you can think of and if you use a different oven cleaner, it doesn’t work as good as the one that I put in the link because it’s not as strong.
I use Schaefers citrus cleaner
You scored nice with the vfo! The one I'm familiar with was only a 5 HP model from1990. This is a great workhorse with a small footprint. This was the one machine I never had issues with, it just ran all the time. Every shop should have one! Good score man!
Put a small 4th axis in it and you got a "great" machine. Our shop did and that machine ran hundreds of thousands of parts for us.
Thanks 🙏
Those late 80's early 90's first gen machines with the plastic/ fiberglass enclosures are crazy looking. Haas has come a long ways. I know of one that's probably still in operation today in Mountain View, CA at a shop that's full of a bunch of Shizouka Bandits as well. I guess if they're working, don't mess with them? 🤣
I trained on a '96 VF0.
VF0's 1000% need the counterbalance inspected and serviced. The gas cylinder will fail and the head will drop on you. I know two guys who had the cylinders fail where the head dropped without warning.
WD sucks for what you're doing because it dries out tacky. Get LPS2 instead.
Your controller said VF2 when it booted. Frankenmill?
Thanks for the advice !
Agree, that special sauce is awesome. Thanks for video, enjoyed it.
Thanks for the support 🙏
I really would like to know how it compares to Zep Citrus Degreaser cleaner@@prestigemanufacturing2611
I've watched that stuff melt oils off, seconds after spray.
Great video 👍 The cleaner i would guess has hydroxide which is the working element and getting it done always use with plenty of ventilation and always try a sample patch FIRST!.
Congratulations. Riggers I deal with on a regular basis use thin plywood on the forks. You should warm the spindle up & then get it to shift into high gear. Also the Z didn’t zero.(the Z wasn’t highlighted like X & Y were.
Thanks for the info
Z0 on a haas is tool change height. there is 4 inches and change above that to retract the tool from the umbrella.
You should be able to drip-feed through the RS232. DNC from MDI needs to be enabled in the parameters. Then, I believe you hit the MDI key twice, could be wrong.
🙏
I purchased a thumb drive conversion from Cal motion for my VFO still haven't installed it yet, Guy I purchased mine from had it in his garage and only used it occasionally it is still very tight and clean.
Nice!!
Good Vids, Good Channel! But, You should build a wash rack to clean the machines on and collect the run off so the E. P. AAs don't get on your case.
Thanks for the support 🙏
I got the vfo-e version. For 8k. I do most of the work. Had the factory replace x axis ball screw. Looks like you got a small table and small turret. My spindle does 10k rpms. Yes you can run the program from the USB.
I didn’t see it mentioned so I figured I would point it out- the sticker with the star looks like an old service banner. Either the owner or an operator had a child that was deployed in the US military during their time with the machine.
Our shop bought one of these a few years ago on auction; needed a new ballscrew for X axis and of course found a few other problems along the way, but its up and running making parts for us now.
The tool changer was really crusty inside, some corrosion on the aluminum plate, a few pockets dont work properly because of the corrosion messing up the slot where the springs sit inside for the pocket doors.
Had the old floppy drive still so we had it upgraded to the usb emulator and had to get a new coolant line put in because the old hosing was very hard didnt want to risk running it incase the hose gave. Got the old CRT screen too but the burn in isnt bad enough to cause issues.
The parts we make dont need to hold tight tolerances so for our small shop the machine is fine, the parts are used in house for various assemblies/weldments.
Nice!
We bought one from a reseller for really cheap they thought the main board was fried, but it turned out to be a 5$ wire
@@a-a-ron8437 that’s a major score!
My new favorite Channel.
Play I finally got my restricted mode turned off now I can make comments I talked to you on the phone about that anyway I get as excited as you do about a new machine and I get excited when you open up a new machine
@17:35 you put a BT40 toolholder in the spindle. should only use cat40. at least, dont do a tool change. the carousel is at a different z height
Bro I love the suburban! Did you make the drop brackets and arms yourself? They look sick! What powers that beast? I have a few Ls powered toys. Ls2/t56 in my 240sx and I’m building a lsx 454 powered gmc envoy 2wd right now.
Thanks 🙏 I designed and built the whole kit. I did a full axle swap. It’s not all the way done yet. It has the stock V8 in it. It just sounds like a diesel because I haven’t tightened the headers back down yet lol 😂
Beautiful, I hope you find a buyer immediately.
Thanks 🙏
Question: are you using demineralized water when you clean the machine, yes?
(Water is an excellent electrical insulator only when there are no salts mixed/dissolved in it.)
I’m using water out of the hose 💧
@@prestigemanufacturing2611 😮
Where are you finding these machines? I’m looking to start a shop in my garage
I have 1999 VF0 with 4th axis too :)
I love it, only downfall is 1MB of ram, but there are some ways to deal with it :)
Nice!
Awesome homie! Another score, another great video.
Thanks man 🙏
U can find those from $7,500 to 15k that still work but have worn paint
I think it's really crazy what good machines you think. I'm really jealous. Where can you find them? Everything I've found so far starts at €600 and is much older and mostly defective. But it could also be that CNC machines simply aren't available that cheaply in Germany
I really have to research to find them this cheap and I don’t always find them
Do you have any sites you recommend?
@@prestigemanufacturing2611
You should be able to turn on the spindle in hand jog, by simply typing your rpm and hit cw or ccw in the bottom left corner
Makes me glad to see a Haas machine, I've been working with one since 4 Years now
i am a cnc maintenance guy, at my old job we used to have a haas vf2, around the same age, maybe a bit newer. when you opened that cabinet my face twisted with disgust... i hate these things with a passion.
😂
oven cleaner also works great on rims but have to be pretty fast or it can eat away at some kinds of rims
Definitely
oven cleaner is not friendly to aluminum.
yes that's true but 99% of rims have a clearcoat/coating of some sort so as long as you don't burn through that should be good @@DieselRamcharger
You came up..1 day my dream
Awesome!! I appreciate the view and support 🙏
Love the video. I don't know what a quarter "normal retail price" is. If the price is a secret, just don't mention it.
But it seems you made a good deal.
Thanks for the support 👍
*Here's what you don't get.*
*_"Things that YOU do not know" are not secrets... they are things that YOU do not know._*
_If I told you you I bought a Mille Fleur for a quarter of what they cost..._
it is incumbent ON YOU to know the specifications. Not on me to tell you.
@@m4rvinmartian
are you OK? I'm saying I'm interested, but don't know much about the north American second hand market for used production machines. And it honestly has limited use in my day to day life.
And it doesn't seem like it, but if YOU wish to inform, then inform. If you want engagement on your video about making a good deal? then if it's a quarter of $4000 and a week of labor, then it's not a great deal, but if it's a quarter of $20k and a week of labor, then it does seem like a good deal.
So you can be upset that I'd like to hear prices when I'm asked if it's a good deal in a video, if that's who you want to be. I just want this channel to do well, and talking about these things, such as prices, helps the channel. Because more information is a benefit to all.
So it's a fair request. Just as ignoring the request is fair, it's his content after all.
Lye might not by the greatest on some of the rubber bits.
Haas machines are warrantied for life
I’m not sure that’s correct lol
*9:00** OMG YOU KNOW WHAT WD-40 IS FOR!!!*

idk if ya all have it avaible but " dasty "works even beter then that oven cleaner
Never heard of it
It’s in beautiful shape.

Great video. Does anybody know a good place to go and test used CNC machines before purchasing them ? Like I the west coast ?
I would have to say this was a def score. Like the content.
Thanks for the feedback and your support. I really appreciate it.
@@prestigemanufacturing2611 what is the specs on that machine. Max soindle rpm and rapids?
@@tdg911 it’s 10,000 rpm. Not sure the max speeds
thats the original head support bracket when that machine was shipped new.

I totally did it 😂😂
Hey man how do you connect 3phase electricity to your machines?
I use a rotary phase converter. You can find them on eBay.
what's the link for the cleaner spray?? Thanks!!
amzn.to/40O2qpq
i hate that when people use time for cleaning before they know if it even runs
If it didn’t run, I’d still have to make it run, so why not clean it so I don’t get dirty while I’m doing it?
@@prestigemanufacturing2611 usualy fixing things makes more mess, so why not clean it after it works.
of course you need to clean all the loose chips and gunk from some areas but no need to polish before testing it... you don't wash a car before taking it on a test drive?
It's no fun working on dirty machines especially around the chips it also makes a better presentation of the machine when unwrapping
yeah clean it while its powered up! shmart!
I want to open a machine shop, but I'm not sure which used CNC machine to buy, which one do you recommend? Haas, Mazak, Maatsuras, Nakamura tome?
I like Fadal mills and Okuma lathes
@@prestigemanufacturing2611 Thanks sir, any specific model you could recommend me??
Can't go wrong with a Mazak. The only caveat is if you're getting an older model (non "smooth" control) is to make sure it has EIA if you plan on using CAM software to program, otherwise their conversational programming at the control is hands down the best on the market.
@@CNCMatrix Any specific model you would recommend me? Obviously we intend to use Fusion 360 or Mastercam as our software. I want to buy a lathe and a machining center, so any advice you can give me is very welcomed.

@@prestigemanufacturing2611 good to know.
If the machine needed repairs, would you have fixed it or hired out?
I would have fixed it myself
Does look pretty good though
I’m not a haas fan either but it does look like it holds good tolerance.
You can turn it into a 4th or 5th axis. Love HAAS machines. It will take G17, G18, and G19 codes with an atachment
Nice!
You are lucky,nice machine😊
Thank you 🙏
Haas power up. Power on. Press Green Power Button. Boot Up. *Now press "Power Up/Restart" Button* Machine will home the Z, Y, X. It will then park. Once you do that hit Handle Jog. And you are zero'd and ready to run.

Secret sauce?? Looks like oven cleaner.
I’m not sure I understand what you are saying….???
“site on scene” ?
“sight on scene” ?
“sight on seen” ?
I believe you are looking for the phrase “sight unseen”
If that is what you were saying, my apologies.
He didn't go in person to look at it. He looked at two pictures and purchased off the internet.
