Wow! Talk about an epiphany! I knew about the I,IV,V major chords, ii,iii,vi minor chords, and vii diminished chord but I didn't really know why until I watched this exercise! Thank You!
Fantastic lesson! This one will stick with me, and I'll embed it into my daily practice routine. As you point out, learning these arpeggios is helpful on so many levels. For my next challenge, I'll try transposing this exercise into other keys -- all 12 eventually. Thank you so much for posting this great content and explaining it so well. Much appreciated.
This made me have a lot of lightbulb moments. Seeing how the chords in the 1-7 progression are all made up of the notes in the scale of the key is so cool. I am curious why this doesn’t work when the key is minor? For instance all the triad notes in A major are in the A major scale but the same isn’t true for A minor. Why is this?
I have a quick question. I am completely blind. I understand you do the down up down motion when ascending, but do you do that same picking pattern when you descend?
I am a beginner. So it is much easier for me to follow you if you were to callout the string and fret instead of the note. such a s G2 G5 A2 G4 G6.I've got you slowed to half speed and is still, for me hard to follow, I'm also old and slow.
Sorry for the tech issue Teresa! I just checked on two different browsers and the video is showing up fine, so I'm wondering if it may be a technical issue on your end.
Learned that exercise b4 Sierra was born. Lol. Good stuff. The next step is to include the notes between. Rock on
What are your thoughts about this arpeggio exercise and the mandolin playing of Sierra Hull?
I love both! Sierra is one of the best 🤘

@@randybradley1251 awesome! Love those "light bulb" moments :)
Excellent for learning where fingers need to go. Thanks for helping players get a sound footing.
Thanks Alyse!

Very good lesson! Thanks! As beginner it takes me a while to do it. Greetings from Germany!

All links I've tried to mandolin secrets are showing error 404 and won't go there. Thought you'd like to know!
Thanks Alyse! My bad, I will correct the links.
I can only hear the sound. No picture.
