i just started playing mandolin and am an experienced guitar player but the mandolins i bought are tighter than my guitar, i can't press down as easily. is this how a mandolin is or do i need to see a luthier and get it adjusted. if the strings were looser my g and d strings would be too loose. one of my mandolins cost a little over $300. is it just not a good mandolin?
Hi Sierra, pretty nice video, thx for that :-) I dont want be rude, but... :-) I play 5 string jazz mandolin for over 5 years (the whole life violin and acoustic mandolin for 10 years) and 4-string chord scales dont work even on 5 string mandolin in all twelve keys if you dont want to go too high on the voice leading line. Well what is this good for in practical meaning? Just start from F and you dont have I as the lowest chord tone etc. No criticism, Im just curious. Thanks :-)

If youre in G that F would be F# dim. So its a seven chord. Then half step to G and start the scale again. F would be your 1 chord in the key of F.
