Letsgoo new video, you do a great work. Can you maybe sometimes show zorki customization? I am trying it myself and im strugling with the paint not sticking to the parts. How do you do it?
I have a situation with a Zorki 3M where the clutch on the takeup spool is loose, so it won't pull the film. The Maisenberg book says they are all the same, but the 3M is different than previous zorkis. Have you run into this situation, and if you have, how did you solve it?
@@geophizz I don't visualise it in my head right now? Doesn't the take up shaft have three rectangular "lips"? Those can be bent outwards so they increase friction with the take up spool. Or is the take-up shaft itself loose?
@@AlinCiortea The spool is different in that it doesn't have the "lips". It is a simple cylinder with nothing to adjust. I was going to swap it with the one from a donor Zorki 3, but they aren't the same. I suspect that the spring is compressed so it doesn't put enough force on the spool. I'm going to try adding some washers to shorten the distance that the spring has to fill.
@@geophizz it might have the zorki 4 spool, that has 4 bumps inside and the shaft has 4 dents. But check to see if the spool turns loosely on the shaft, or the shaft turns loosely on the top gear. If it's the latter, than yes, you need to add some shims to increase the tension of the spring.
@@AlinCiortea Thanks. I think you're right. I've never had a Zorki 4, but it sounds like what you're describing. I tried adding more shims, but the ones that I got blocked the takeup reel from sliding all the way on. So I ended up swapping out a takeup spool from a donor Zorki 1, and it works fine. Thanks for the suggestions!
There used to be a website years ago where the guy did custom jobs on Russian cameras. He made them look so good. It's probably gone now. Not only Russian cameras are full of pitfalls. I'm just working on a rolleiflex 2.8d and it's past life was brutal. Someone forced the crank handle so hard it's bent the metal in three places. One I don't know if I'll get it back straight ok.. probably have to source a part for it. It was missing screws and washers. Never seen a camera so badly treated.
@@AlinCiortea I know. I bought it knowing it was not working as the seller said the shutter does not work. The shutter I serviced and there was a spring out of place on the slow speed mechanism and now the speeds work but the violence on the metal parts is crazy. Also parts missing as well screws and washers. I'm waiting on a rolleicord for parts to arrive sometime soon then I'll take what I can from that. I've bought many cameras from this seller In fact I'm waiting for 25 cameras to arrive at about €3.30 each! One is a Kodak retina iiiC it needs parts which I have.
hello, the hand writing on the back I don't really know what its mean but its writed "po zazov". a google search with the cyrillic give a lada car (no idea of what happened xd)

@@playcube5725 :) I'll post a short series with my very limited experience with painting soon.

@@petercooper9054 that might be even worse. People don't usually expect much from Russian cameras but from Rolleiflex on the other hand...

Apparently it means "imperfect fit" or something like that. It makes sense for the original state of the camera :))
