  • Dizzy had a surprisingly short commercial life, really just 5 years. But into those 5 years Codemasters not only packed 7 mainline platform adventure titles but also 5 spin offs.
    We take a look at Dizzy's lesser known appearances, from exciting Pac-Man's lawyers to exciting Toobin's lawyers to annoying friend of the channel RoseTintedSpectrum.

    When I was 7 we went on holiday to Spain and I got a Snorkel for the swimming pool. I was immensely disappointed when I discovered I couldn't use it to breath continuously underwater like Dizzy could.

      I guess it depends how long said snorkel is. 10m or so should do it.

    We need to bring back video game tie ins with terrible British businesses. I want to see a cash converters themed Call of Duty: Zombies

    I've got a near 44 year streak of never playing a Dizzy game. I'm not looking forward to breaking that for The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy...twice.

      Be glad. Because that Game Gear collection I mention was also finished on SMS but never released. You were one signed purchase order away from having to play 3 more.

    I am a mark for Dizzy, not gonna lie! Also worth mentioning that Kwik Snax on C64 is a different game entirely!
    Instead of being a Bomb Jack / Pengo knock off like you showed, it is a top down Pac Man / Flicky theft job instead!

      You're a what for Dizzy? A nerdy fact: there's only one Dizzy game. The rest star granddizzy's (the real Dizzy).

      @@Yesterzine it was just a prerecorded audio walkthrough of the whole game on a premium rate number, my old man didn't let me stay on the line long enough to get to the part about the bit I was stuck on.

    Another video on this in the future would be pretty cool -- there's a few spinoffs that could be cool to look at. Panic Dizzy on NES and Game Gear is totally different, it's more of a cross between Klax and Columns. I'd need to give it more research to tell you if it's any good, though. C64 Kwix Snax is also its own weird, Flicky-esque thing.
    Also, as an American, and thus with a genetic aversion to Dizzy, I would honestly call Go Dizzy Go the best thing to come out of the franchise. It's pretty tough, sure, but I always have a good time with it.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the lovely Super Jimtendo pointed out the same about the C64 one. This was originally a CPC episode, hence them mostly being that but it might well be worth doing a roundup. There's channel interest too because that GG collection you mention was also finished on the Master System but never released.

    Fast Food was the first game I bought. It was cheap and pretty good. I still play it today now and again.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I assume for a lot of people these budget games were "Something you might be lucky enough to be able to grab on town trips if you behaved well/the right amount of badly" and I always have that in mind with them. For Fast Food you'd very happily be playing that for the next week.

    In our neck of the woods it was Fine Fare that got taken over by Somerfield. It's a Lidl now.

      Gateway->somerfield->co op for my supermarket musical chairs. Apart from the name and less staff + more self service doodads nothing changed in shop layout etc. Laziest buyouts ever.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I think Co-Op officially took over the remains of Somerfield/Gateway. Presumably though they had to sell some too near their other stores.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You know I don't know how tall he is but from the instances he's near humans I'd guess about 2ft 6. So yeah, that's no chicken egg.

    A good video. 🙂
    In regards to Bubble Dizzy and Dizzy Down the Rapids on the 8-bit computers, the Commodore 64 versions of the two were more decent to play as they were made by different teams.
    It's likely that Dizzy being included in Fast Food was very last minute after what happened with Happy Eater.
    With no clear story and why Dizzy must eat all the food in each level. - Despite all that though its still one of the classical/memorable arcade games in the series.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah this was originally taken from a CPC focused video but that's interesting about those two. I'm not sure it's going to solve the fundamental gameplay issue of Bubble Dizzy though. I agree though, Dizzy was almost certainly jammed into Fast Food to make it sell at all.
