It would be awesome if you could make a lovely mosaic in the garden with bits of broken tile found in the convent and offcuts from tile used in the renovation. I did this and it’s a great way to honour both the old and new. It’s a great thing to get the kids involved in too, both big kids and small 😂 The floor is looking amazing Billy, in fact everything that’s been done so far looks stunning. Great craftsmanship and attention to detail thruout. I love the way you are tackling the renovations with great thought and respect for the building and it’s history. First of all- Happy Birthday, hope you have a great day and a wonderful year! Secondly, the tiles; you mentioned that there will lots of waste with cutting tiles for the perimeter. Save everything, all the pieces can be made into a custom mosaic you can use in a hall or entryway. By the time you tile a few bathrooms and utility spaces you will have a large collection of multiple colors. An artist would love to create a mosaic (hint for Michael). You can even save the stone dust from the cuts and mix it into mortar in place of sand to give mortar a grey-er color rather than the brown or gold color of sand.
Who would think laying floor tiles would be so exciting. I know you have a knee pad Billy but your knees must be hurting a lot by the end of the day! Many Happy Returns of the Day for tomorrow. Good luck in UK obviously getting an organ of some sort, looking forward to seeing it!

You must get an organ for the chapel. It would be fitting. There is an old chapel in Koln, Germany (Rockplast, Band of Horses 2010) that was converted to a music venue. They kept the pipe organ in the balcony. Every now and then, one of the performers sneaks up there and gives it a go❤🎶👍
Just think, that floor may be down for a couple of hundred years or more. You’ve created history. Down the years someone may look at that floor and wonder who laid it. Wonder how the technology of that time will play it back. Fabulous job. Have a lovely birthday.

Essential having extras to stash. Just remember to find a safe place and make a list. Fifty or 100 plus years from now someone just might break a tile. Knowing the mastic and sealer used plus the spare tiles in inventory, you've set it up to preserve this floor. Keep it looking good for the grandkids on.
I hope you get to enjoy the convent once it is renovated. Our projects cannot compare to yours in scale, but each time we finished a project, we would sell and move on.
