As a self confessed blue blood and given the demise of cars built here in this great land, love that enthusiasts like yourself are keeping the "dream alive" so to speak with the local stuff. From memory the 173 was a pretty stout motor probably better than the 202. I had the pleasure of owing a late model HZ 202 that had a Yella Terra gas head and a different cam etc with the 3 speed "Trumatic tranny, not a powerhouse but an awesome cruiser. If I still had it, it'd be sporting some sort of LS conversion. I loved it because it was an Iconic Aussie car and equally as good as the many cars I've owned over 40 years.
When you started the engine did you take it up to 2000 revs and hold it for 20 minutes with a zinc base oil . If not best of luck with the camshaft. Christopher from Queensland
Yes i believe so....depending on the gearbox and driveshaft setup. I did a 202 swap into my wifes Sunbird years ago and had to change the gearbox but i think the original drive shaft worked. It was a split driveshaft with a centre bearing.
@@KamicarzCreations all good , also spiggot bush bearings i was taught to put into back of the Crank n tap in with a Brass Hammer , just saying Mate. Love the cars and Hard work, doing as well as sharing. Huge Thanks. pS building a red 202 yella and arp everything 🙂

We used to prime Holden oil pumps back in the day by putting a smear of petroleum jelly in the cavity

Are you putting 1 of the harmonic balancer retaining plates on, like what they used on xu1 toraners?
Probably just a washer and bolt
it could get a holley 2300 sniper also
Yes that would be awesome
