If you're into shmups or even just like the idea of them, then CYGNI: All Guns Blazing should be on your radar. Even after playing it for a short while, it's abundantly clear it knows what it's trying to be; a shmup trying to appeal to newer and veteran crowds without sacrificing the core of what makes them fun. Further, the high levels of presentation and sound design up the distinction a few notches. I should also note that the game will feature a two-player local co-op, though I didn't get the chance to try it out.

Just found out about this somehow but am definitely looking forward to it. Shocked that Konami of all studios is taking a risk on a AAA shmup but I REALLY REALLY hope this succeeds for the sake of the genre and studios involved both.
This makes me wish Square Enix would make another Einhander

Brilliant modern 3D Space Shooter, thanks KeelWorks. That’s how they should look like. Hope that they will add a coop mode, for 2 or even more players, on the same screen and device.
Near the end of this video it is mentioned that this game will indeed have same screen 2 player coop.

As do I. I am also hoping that Cygni gets released soon, but I think that we won't be playing it until next year.
@@Skill4Reel Sad, if so. I adore such arcade retro games, especially if they are for two and more players on same screen and device coop and with modern 3D. Like here.🙂

But how you aim? Those shots looks almost random, you can not shoot straight in this game? Its like a twin stick shooter? Or how?
As long as they don't mess up the gameplay, Cygni is poised to be the first true next gen shmup.
Gives me Ikaruga vibes, but looks much better. Have to get this one and see if thats indeed true

The b-roll was provided by the dev. A few of us are pretty good at shooters so we’ll see if we can do better 😂
@@NoisyPixelNews the devs once made an AMA in a shmup forum, so i'd imagine they got someone who can play better than this
i wonder if they did it on purpose to portray the game's leniency
Hmm, generally not keen on Shmups where you can take multiple hits. It often means the devs are less careful when creating enemy waves/shot patterns as they have the excuse that the player can take a hit or two. Can lead to messy, frustrating levels.

Dear devs - stop trying to make a shmup if you have never 1cc'd a shmup. Go actually play some before you try to make one.
Yep, I actually enjoy the occasional euro-shmup as kind of a guilty pleasure if they have something interesting/cool about them, but not sure about this. The enemy waves/bullet patterns look messy and there seems to be some slowdown at times; not sure if it’s a consistent 60fps. Plus I expect the ship uses analogue controls and may even have some inertia. 🤢

@@NoisyPixelNewsI’d be interested in a PS4 version - there’s no reason this couldn’t run on it (definitely on the Pro), but for some reason it’s only PS5. I guess maybe Sony paid the devs to encourage people to move to the newer console but I don’t see why it couldn’t have been on both - it’s not like a shmup is going to be a system seller in the eyes of the average gamer.
