Hey TR. would love for you to do a deep dive why I (and some others although I know we are in minority) produce less power outside than inside. And yes, this is with properly calibrated power meters, riding on a closed course outside etc…. For some reason, I can sprint and time trial with better power indoors and I’d love to understand why.

Is there a difference in muscle recruitment riding in the big or small ring on the trainer? Have you talked about this on previous episodes of the podcast?

There are muscle recruitment differences that depend upon your cadence, resistance, and force you're putting into the pedals. The gear you're in is just a product of that.

Incredibly interesting, thanks for this video! So is it fair to say that a sprinter who trains to increase their FTP will, by doing so, decrease their maximal sprint output for 5 to 20 seconds due to the muscle fiber conversion induced by the training? So in the end, they say to always focus on improving your weaknesses, but from what was said in the video this will also diminish your strengths, am I wrong? Is it possible to improve both type 1 and type 2 fibers up to a certain point? Thanks again, really geeky but super cool topic
