I just got an epic fsr 2008 and I love it . I've been in love with specialized , since my first rock hopper in 1994 . The epic needs to be rebuilt but , the frame is in beautiful condition . I know it's 2020 , I can't afford a new one but that's ok because I'm still crazy about the older ones .thank you specialized for so much enjoyment over the years . Sean
I'm looking to buy one now it's currently bidding for 500bucks!!! I'm amazed about this technology I just discovered today.... what's more crazy is a 12yr old bike is still pretty expensive.. still have 1day of bidding to go , I hope I win!!!
Great bikes till the shock brakes and neither Specialized or Fox will repair it.They say "Parts are not available".But that is BS because I found a company called Risse Racing that will repair/service the AFR Brain shocks. Its $175.
Hello I have a specialized epic m4 2006 that uses that brain shock absorber , Where can I get that shock absorber or repair it or get the repair seals?
Wow sorry but that seems so much like a Fraud, what its basically doing is locking out the shock, so that pedaling is smooth but when ever you hiy a bump it activates
not a fraud... it's a physical piece of hardware that functions with the basic laws of physics to create the effect. it's called "inertia"... kinda like slamming on the brakes in a car while not wearing your seat belt... the car stops but you keep moving, same principle at work here... it's used in far more things than you realize! the Swedes used it as a mechanism in a shotgun around the turn of the century so it's nothing new.
Been riding my Brain equipped Epic since 2004. Just did a restoration on it and it still is fun to ride.
Did you restore your Epic Brain yourself, or did Fox do it? Do they still sell a rebuild kit? My Epic Brain is very bouncy when I'm climbing.
