I bought a pair because of how much I love the Cielo X1. MAN, the ride on these is so fun. The heel lift was a deal breaker. 4 miles and my heels were starting to rub red. Few more miles and the bleeding would've began.
Oh no. I’m sorry to hear. Good thing you caught it early. Geesh I’m hearing it from quite a few folks. I’m just picturing the good people at HOKA testing this with folks and no one caught it? Or what they did with that info? Question to you: how would you compare the heel problem area of this to the Cielo x1?
I love the Mach 6 so much that I bought a second pair. So, I had high hopes for the Mach X2. Really wanted to add to my rotation. But oofda, you are not the only reviewer to poo poo the heel. May follow your suggestion on waiting for a big sale on this shoe, or otherwise wait for version 3.
Uffda indeed (we say that here in MN 😊) I haven’t tried the 6 but hear great things and that you bought a 2nd furthers that opinion. Yes same here, the heel. Really sad have to consider modifying a 190$ shoe or put a pad/bandaid on me but dang it’s really a fun shoe otherwise. Maybe the 3 will be “just right” Goldilocks Thanks!
I had a 'boo boo' when I ran in mine too. I was so busy enjoying the floaty and speedy feeling of the shoe while I was running, that I hardly noticed it during the run. But the minute I stopped, boy was I aware! Such a shame as I loved running in it. I guess that I'll just have to buy some padding for the heel. I hope that does the trick as I would hate to kick this shoe into touch, it's such a joy to run in.
Well dang. Yes the Mach is EXCELLENT minus that one thing. Ugh. For what it is, I throw on a piece of moleskin then I’m good. A thing but worth the effort I figure
"Almost", "Near perfect" are just a couple of the descriptors that turn me off of Hoka, in general. At 10 oz, I'd probably shy away from the MX2. The Endo S4 is two oz lighter, and $15 cheaper. Otherwise, another comprehensive full review. Cheers, Jason.
Thank you and Cheers to you as well! Yea, I realize they were going for a Cielo little brother/training buddy but dang no padding at all! I’m muffling the “they knew” thoughts 🙄 so I LOVED the endo speed 1, had heel slippage in the 3 and haven’t tried the 4. I did find myself wondering why that is the other day…sounds like a solid shoe all around and well…it’s Saucony 😊 Good to hear from you
Great question. That’s fast. Bear in mind I’ve only tested the Mach and not the rocket. That said, If you’re used to a plated shoe then the rocket might be the better choice. There might be a small amount of increased flexibility to the Mach. Not to mention the weight difference and price. I think both shoes look good but I’d consider the rocket. Thank you so much!
For me I used a piece of moleskin. I have the adhesive backed ones that I put over my heel then put sock and shoe on like regular. A pesky step but it’s a super good shoe otherwise (the heel)
Huge miss, in my opinion. I just would not use these in the middle of a training cycle given the injury/blister risk on the heel. Too bad given the rest of the shoe.
It’s a toss up a few folks don’t have any issues. I could tell when I put it on to have it on my radar then sure enough it rubbed. Wasn’t a huge gash but still -for that price. I hear ya about not wrecking a training block. The shoe is MEGA fun and I felt I could run much longer and further than I had time for so that’s something. 👍 thanks

@@RunningNPAdventures you as well
👍
for a marathon just under 3 hours, are these Mach X2s without carbon plate or Rocket X2s with plate better?

Do you like this or the SC Trainer v3 bettr?
This 💯 %
Too late to return after I dirtied them with blood from all heel rubbing, other than that I loved the shoe.
I’m sorry to hear that. Dang. Yea besides that it’s probably one of the best shoes
How do u avoid back heel blister from those ?
For me I used a piece of moleskin. I have the adhesive backed ones that I put over my heel then put sock and shoe on like regular. A pesky step but it’s a super good shoe otherwise (the heel)
Isn't this heel design the same as the Rocket X2?
It’s similar I feel. The lateral and medial walls of the rocket sit farther forward vs the Mach and is a bit more stripped down
