I used to do that in FL when it was too hot 😂
I bet! Nice a/cd house vs Florida humidity any day
Mine squeaks when water gets inside the shoes. Tried it after a rain or drizzling runs. It really squeaks. Annoys me a bit. But my Hoka Mach 5 squeaks a lot when wet.
I’m sorry to hear that. Is it only when wet? Bummer. I’ve heard a few folks finding solutions for that by roughing up the material between the clouds to decrease the squeaks. I didn’t run in the Mach 5
Are are these a good shoe to use for standing at work, asking because I have back/spine issues and need a soft cushion I can stand in, any insight would help , even if a different shoe, thanks in advance to anyone who replies
They might be good for you. Another soft option could be the ASICS Nimbus. They are nice and soft. More specifically, I wonder with your history of going in person to a store that they can measure and fit your feet and match you with footwear/inserts? To address your individual needs. Just a thought. Thanks
@ thanks for that. I appreciate that🙏🏽
You’re welcome!

Awesome, this book. American Heroes: James Patternson, Matt Eversmann with Tim Malloy. Wow. A bunch of mini stories about soldiers over the years. I started it tonight and can’t stop reading. Humbling, inspirational stuff. If you have any suggestions: let em rip
@RunningNPAdventures Patterson is a legend and one of my favorite authors. My son is an undergrad and will join the USMC as an officer upon graduation. This will be a perfect gift for his bday next month. Thx, J.
Do you think i should get a us 12 for sb2 , if my nb 1080 v14 is a us 11 2E? my 1080 fits me almost perfectly but i noticed the insoles on my us11 2E are 30cm with 10cm insole toebox width. The Asics size guide indicates that us12 on the sb2 is 29.5cm which would be the perfect insole length but i am more concerned with the width . Do you also happen to know the width measurement of your us 11.5 sb2, even just the exterior toebox? Thank you in advance.
Hey there! Thanks for the note. 101.6mm toe box with digital calipers at the fabric for exterior toe box my US men’s 11.5. I also have v14 men’s 11 fits great. The sb2 in us 11.5 fits very well. I’d think the 12 might be a bit much in length to me If you want more measures let me know
@RunningNPAdventures Thank you so much for taking the time to measure! Would you mind if you can also measure the length and width of the insoles of your 11.5 sb2? Thanks again!
@ right on-no problem-I’ll get you those measurements first thing tomorrow morning thank you! I appreciate your comments!
Good morning! I removed the insert inside the shoe. Starting from the back where my heel sits to the very end is 282.4 long by 99 wide at the widest of the forefoot. Bonus the slimmest part is 74.9 near the arch I hope that helps
@@RunningNPAdventures Dude, you are freaking awesome! Thank you very much! This helps me a lot.
This tool has been a game-changer for my hip bursitis. I confidently recommend ordering the Super Deep attachment. Can't wait to see the results!
Awesome! Yes, I was looking at that attachment. I do like focal work. I’ve been using this regularly since I got it. I’ve been climbing stairs with a heavy backpack to stay fresh during the icy cold and this has helped with the legs. Stairs make me sore in different areas. I’m happy with the r8. Thanks!
I want the pair with the jet packs.
Hey, I’m just happy that I get to wear light em up shoes again. I can match my sons Super Mario shoes ✨
And apparently in the future we still haven’t learned about footwear toebox and bunions 😂
@@RunningNPAdventures silver lining
@@RunningNPAdventures right?
Hypoallergenic alloy lining
One or more can be supercritical. Also, does OBC count?
Supercritical is popular. OBC counts (olefin block copolymers) seen in FF Blast MAX and others. Can be nice and soft

Always opt for the stairs!
Yes! I’ve been taking stairs for years. Probably most of my shifts ever. Can’t remember voluntarily going for other. Plus use for exercise on breaks. Just good stuff and it’s there. I love the idea of little exercises, hidden work that all adds up. I have to face the fact that sometimes the time for a proper workout ain’t gonna happen. So instead of throwing a tantrum about it I get to work being creative and finding a way. Thanks ktc
got em 158 inc tax 30 percent off nb sight
Wow that’s great! Congrats on the savings! Always love a good deal! Thanks for sharing. Those Balos are nice, bouncy, soft and a heck of a curve!
Is the insole still the very bad lifeless (water-soaking) foam they've used for ages or have they replaced it with the new TPU version?
Hey there. So this Zipfoam is an EVA PEBA blend and it performs well. It’s lively and has a nice durable feel. I’ve have this on daily since I got it and it just keeps going. That’s through snow, water etc. it doesn’t act as a sponge as far as I can tell so far. I do have some older road topo models and can’t speak to trail offerings but I’ve noticed a nice update to the latest topo including specter 2 and this Ultraventure 4. I see they’re doing a lot this year for the trail. For my purposes here I’m thinking of maximizing shoe tests length in order to see just how long they last. Thanks!
@@RunningNPAdventures I didn't ask about the Zipfoam midsole (which I doubt has any PEBA trace in it), but the insole/sockliner/footbed (whichever name you use locally).
Oh ok gotcha yeah the insert is good. It’s actually fairly resolute in the damp/snowy/wet conditions I’ve been in recently. I don’t notice any real soaking of the insert. When it warms up and I’m in more of creeks and mud then I’ll see how it performs there too. Overall, despite my best efforts to destroy this shoe so far it remains intact
It’s an ortholite insert. I’d consider this nice, comfortable premium feeling insert. It’s not limp or thin.
@@RunningNPAdventures Does it say "high rebound" in the middle of the length? If it does, it's the same crap they've been putting in their shoes for the last couple of years.
I really like the soft feeling of the 1080 v14. I personally would not need more softness in a daily trainer. Only problem i had were blisters on the insides of my feet because of the high sidewalls.
Ouch sorry to hear about the side walls. Yes to the midsole of the 14! I really enjoy the subtle bounce and overall durable feeling from the 14.
That looks too much like work. 😅 Happy New 🎉 🥳 🎆
lol! I thought it was going to be. Nah, just rolls right on. Don’t even need to be on the floor. My parents and kiddos just used it. They thought it was interesting. Figured out it can do the upper leg 360 when perched on the edge of a chair. Dang that’s nice
And happy new year! 2025!!
@RunningNPAdventures 😁 👍
@RunningNPAdventures 👍
I agree walking in them they feel like there forcing a pronation also I felt in shoe by the big toe there’s a strip of hard fabric there that spot on inside I’d fit at the bod toe rubs and y foot seems to slide to inside once it makes you pronate I loved v2
I also really like the 2. I’m not a big fan of the 3. I agree that it is a bit controlling to the user especially with walking. borderline unpleasant. I will say that it’s magical when you find the sweet spot but that sounds like work. I appreciate a shoe that I don’t have to think too much about for training
I saw a post showing they dropped this shoe. Im super sad because i think it looks great. Hopefully they make it part of vomero or whatever they are doing 😢
Yea…I’ve seen mixed signals but guess the Vomero absorbed the Invincible status? I dod like the invincible and I don’t have any history with the Vomero. I guess we’ll see
I stand by my recovery sandals and shoes. They feel great after a tough workout or long run. Nice review.
Thank you. I’ve been wearing some kind of house shoes for many years. Game changer. My feet miss them when I don’t have them on. I’d guess these types of shoes see more time and miles than we think. Plus the variety of activities performed while in them
@RunningNPAdventures 👍
No room for on cloud surfer next
Oh yeah that CS next was indeed a good shoe. I thought about em too. 👍
Happy New year to you and your family, Jason 🎉
And to you and yours as well!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Happy to have found your channel this year! Happy new year!
Awesome! So happy you’re here! Happy new year to you as well!
I want to try these so bad. Got too many shoes though but it’s on the list.
Yessir, this should drop in price at some point. When they do that might make it easier for you? There’s always room for one more? Its really a fun one
@ its not really the price i guess. I just have too many shoes lol.
I hear ya. I have that same problem
2024 was an epic year for shoe releases. 2025 looks even more epic.
Totally agree all the good stuff shown at TRE proves that 2025 will indeed impress!
@RunningNPAdventures Trail shoes especially.
Ooo yeah. I remember you saying this is a good year for the dirt candy
@RunningNPAdventures 👍
Where and when?
Nothing that I can see yet 🫤
The tiny urls don’t work pal
Hey there! Sorry took so long to get back with ya. I see the Balos link didn’t work. That’s updated. Looks like the Balos has been marked down in a bunch of places. This link is for Holabird Sports. I tried the other links and it looks like they’re still good. Let me know if you have any other issues. Thanks!

7:32 Tactile tackiness. Is that a thing? If so, I like it.
Ha yes! Let’s make it a thing. Add “squishness” to the list? I’m sure we should have a list 😎

When you win the powerball, you can build an indoor track, with a pool, hot tub, dry sauna, steam sauna.
Dang that does sound nice. Not sure if I actually want to win the powerball (I do still play tho) would be a lot of donations. thinking a little trail safe from cars and somewhat predictable could be handy. Plus though could hang some white Christmas lights out there for lighting. Like that bridge at western states 😎

Let's go! 🔥🔥🔥 intrigue about the fitting compared to other shoes
Absolutely there’s a bunch of shoes in this category to consider 😎😎
Lived in Minny through college. Winters here in Colorado aren't so bad.
Right on. Moved here in 2016. Originally from Georgia. Still getting used to it. Phew. I have family in CO they say it’s really nice. Almost would like a big blanket of snow to insulate things lol

Is this 18 softer than the 16 or 17?
I’m not sure-would be something to measure once they’re released 😀
thx for the review. i have adidas boost size 10, what size would you recommend for clsurfer? thank you
@@v.miljevic5841 thank you! I go true to size with adidas and it’s fine if maybe a little snug. The Cloudsurfer next fit really well. i have a low volume foot with long toes.
I like that color way. Haven’t seen that one. Where can I find it?
Hey there. This was on the asics main site 👍
Let's go! 🔥🔥🔥
Yes!!!!! 🤠
I bought the 3s when everyone was bragging about it, but wasn't impressed and the tongue thickness is great but does not stay
@@paulcarlson4230 yep the tongue on the 3 wasn’t great imo too much, flopsy and would crinkle. Ick. I’d say the 4s actually were a very pleasant experience all round. These 5s are something else tho. The 4s are on sale now 💰
Did I miss the sizing? Is it the same as the v4? Thanks
Hey there not sure if I covered that in detail. Later tonight I’ll go put them on each foot as a refresher and reach back out here thanks!
The more v5 feels a tad bit more roomy 👍
Asics is very consistent (and predictable). I set my sundial to when the new Novablast revision releases.
They do love a beginning of the month drop: NB2 6/2/21, NB3 9/1/22, NB4 12/1/23, NB5 12/1/24. This terrestrial spectacle deserves a 3rd ventricle for my runners heart. I predict this one will live up to the heritage. Feels like a big update (upper and foam)
@RunningNPAdventures What do you think about an NB5 and GlideRide Max shoe(t)out? Just a thought.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife absolutely. You planted the seed back when the max/4 shoet went down thinking about the upcoming 5 so yes most definitely would be more of a comparable one with an eye on the midsole specifically, etc. is a main reason for purchase. So for that I thank you 😊
@RunningNPAdventures I was thinking midsole, too.
Yup
Got my Novablast 5 (black/white with royal blue highlights) on Tuesday. Ran a 10K PB. Just ran this morning a half marathon PB in them. I don't remember how the NB4 felt because I ran them to the ground, and I also rotate with the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 for speed sessions and the Brooks Glycerin Max for shorter recovery miles, but the results of how the shoe feels and works speak itself.
Wow! That does speak for itself! And congratulations that’s great to hear. It sounds like the 4 served you well and the 5 is living up to the legacy. Great options for a well rounded rotation with the Hyperion and G max. Nice job 👍
It is rigid, the heel strike is awkward and the shoe feels stiff-i still have to learn to run in these
It’s true it is definitely rigid. Took a while to get some spring into the plate. I typically am a midfoot landing so does ok but the foam could use some reformulation. Little too soft imo. I did make a video where I walked instead of ran in the shoe to answer a question about does this make a good walking shoe if you want to check that video out: th-cam.com/video/5JhYozbtArw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ta4JbRZ9fx0D2LoL
But first...coffee.
Absolutely sir. This stuff is pretty good 👍 add it up there alongside the caf 😁
@RunningNPAdventures Nice. My go-to pre-run coffee is infused with electrolytes.
Hmm interesting that makes sense
@RunningNPAdventures Long Run Coffee. Their target demographic is the endurance athlete like you and me; i.e., runners, cyclists, rowers, XC skiers, etc.
I’m trying out some new electrolytes myself. Mainly for throughout the day for hydration. I didn’t think to add coffee. This I must try
I'm glad that set is working for you. I had not-so-great luck with Narhan lighting in the past.
Yep, thanks. Sorry they didn’t work out for you. I have a Petzl but it’s pretty heavy for running. This one is barely there in terms of weight. It’ll be a good winter testing in here so only time will tell 😀 my hat one didn’t last long at all. Running in the darker dark
@@RunningNPAdventures I funded a Kickstarter project for a lightweight headlamp that has worked well for me over the years.
Cool. What is it?

Next year will be a big year for Topo with the new Aura, Cyclone 3, Phantom 4 for the road; and the MTN Racer 3 and Tera Venture 4 for the trail. Trail running in general is getting a lot of love next year across most of the brands.
That’s awesome. Roadtrailrun and spirited runner have been showcasing quite a few of them. There’s some really awesome stuff from Topo. That Vista Max is going for the Olympus spot looks like 🤔
@@RunningNPAdventures That's what they've been saying about the Olympus.
@@RunningNPAdventuresI have the ultraventure 3 and almost got the 4. I’m now going to hold out for the Vista when it arrives in the summer.
Got it. Yeah I’m wondering about the vista myself. I can’t speak to any big changes from UV3 to 4
