ASICS GlideRide MAX-Double Stack of WOW
I'm glad that set is working for you. I had not-so-great luck with Narhan lighting in the past.
Yep, thanks. Sorry they didn’t work out for you. I have a Petzl but it’s pretty heavy for running. This one is barely there in terms of weight. It’ll be a good winter testing in here so only time will tell 😀 my hat one didn’t last long at all. Running in the darker dark
@@RunningNPAdventures I funded a Kickstarter project for a lightweight headlamp that has worked well for me over the years.
Next year will be a big year for Topo with the new Aura, Cyclone 3, Phantom 4 for the road; and the MTN Racer 3 and Tera Venture 4 for the trail. Trail running in general is getting a lot of love next year across most of the brands.
That’s awesome. Roadtrailrun and spirited runner have been showcasing quite a few of them. There’s some really awesome stuff from Topo. That Vista Max is going for the Olympus spot looks like 🤔
@@RunningNPAdventures That's what they've been saying about the Olympus.
That's commitment right there, my friend.
Thank you so much
@@RunningNPAdventures Cheers, brother.
Is it true to size?
Absolutely! Best value shoe of the year 😀😀😀
I grew up in Michigan. The cold drove me to California.
Smart man! I’m the opposite-I was raised in southern Georgia and wound up in Minnesota 🤪 still ain’t used to it lol
@RunningNPAdventures Oof!
I love dogs
Us too! She’s my running buddy/motivation 😀
❤
😀
Awwwww what a cutie❤ Ya dad! Gotta be faster😉
It’s true! She’s so fast 🤣🤣
I know it’s a road to trail shoe by design but I wish they would make a version with aggressive 4-5 mm lugs.
Hey there I see that Topo is coming out with the Vista Max Trail in 2025. Big stack and 4mm lugs. Otherwise the UV4 is really nice. Link th-cam.com/video/erHzrQ9s1gA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kNN73Jw6KIP-fMbL
And look at you braving it out in your bare feet! 😉
Oh man! Immediate arterial reaction of wtf. It’s fun to watch the technicolor toes changes all sorts of shades pre during and post big cold. Ah well-such as Minnesota. I’m originally from the southern us so still getting used to it here 🥶 thanks!
@RunningNPAdventures I've gone the other way. I spent most of my life living in the Midlands in the UK and now I live in a desert climate on the north coast of Peru. I can tell you which one my ageing body prefers 😁
Happy Thanksgiving
Hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving filled with good food and company!

Right on, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well 👍
Happy Thanksgiving
Hope your day is full of good eats and good company! 🐾
Happy thanksgiving to you and your pup bro!!
Thanks for watching. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, too!
Always the dog doing the work😂
It’s true! Some days she pulls me other days it’s me with the energy. Dog math 🤓
Topo is killing it next year: Aura, Cyclone 3, Phantom 4, Ultraventure 4, et al
Yessir, that aura and vista both are looking sharp! I like that Topo (that I’ve experienced) doesn’t over squish their midsoles. Feels nice and supportive over the long haul IMO
@RunningNPAdventures ditto
Oh the weather outside is frightful... Anyhoo, there's an app for everything, including one for how to layer for running in all temperature and weather conditions. To me, layering seems like common sense. Thanks for the great tips.
Geez there is an app for everything. Yup, pulled this one out of the archives and (tried to) help the audio. I’ll probably do an updated one (in the single digits soon) but the concept is the same. Great stuff. I heard it described as think of yourself like an onion. Many layers 😀 thanks for being here
@RunningNPAdventures 👍
At the risk of picking nits (not at you, of course, but at the results), these four papers were meta-analyses of other studies rather than fully-randomized trials with control groups. Study #1 Interesting that the researchers did not consider dynamic stretching. Study #3 the researcher was funded by Puma and Saucony. Just saying. Thanks for another entertaining duscussion.
Absolutely. I didn’t take it that way. I do wonder about meta analysis and systemic review. I’m sure whatever point needs to be made can be with enough studies mixed in. Also, saves the researchers from doing a RCT. That said, it reminds me of the quality of evidence pyramid from school. The systemic reviews are just above RCTs. 2. I hear ya on the COI. I think there’s many grants out there. Nike funded their big 4% study. Interesting that the same researcher worked the Nike study and also this one here (Wouter Hoogkamer) good ethical research and researchers run a clean shop. This highlights how it’s important to not just take it all with a grain of salt but to look at the whole issue. Go where the evidence leads. Great stuff. Always happy to entertain 😀🤡
@RunningNPAdventures Through all their shortcomings, meta-analyses are, at least, better than epidemiological studies, which are woefully unreliable.
Love the Topo Atmos. It gets more comfortable with every mile
Completely agree. It’s a wonderful shoe
I just bought a Speed 4, thank you Saucony lol
Of course! Yup-“last years shoes” are todays special. Now that TRE has happened we get a glimpse into the supercritical PEBA future
I enjoyed listening to your opinions but dude I went into epileptic shock watching you handle the shoes. Maybe hold the shoes still for a bit more? I’m just teasing. Good video.
Right on yep. Thank you 🙏 I could try to be still (fat chance) or just put the dang thing down. Hard to see a blurry, rapid moving target jump around the screen for 20 min 😀 thanks for watching
Glycerin Max?
Ahh I didn’t get that one. Would’ve made sense on the list. That’s a big one I hear. Did You get it?
You had me at proprioception. 😁 I was glued to my set watching TRE livestream on FloTrack. A common theme amongst the featured brands was supercritical foam on daily trainers and more max stack shoes next year. Just when you thought 2024 was a big year, here comes 2025.
lol, proprioception, yep. As long as the big stacks don’t fully disassociate us from tacticle feedback. Or, just running in max shoes. I go back to variety with all the items we talked about, up down in down drop no drop hard soft. All of it 😀. Yup, the ink hasn’t dried for 2024 and already 2025 is full speed ahead 🚂
@RunningNPAdventures yessir
I ran in the 1080v10, then the More v2 (hated the Ultraheel but loved those two shoes otherwise), then the v12 which went higher stack, then the More v3 which was even higher and now the v13 which is higher and super-soft. I love the v13 and haven't found any problems with it. I've heard complaints about the v13 in terms of stability but I haven't found those to be an issue with me so I bought two more for $91 (one for me and one for my wife). The v13 is great for my running and it would be hard to justify an extra $74 for the v14 when I like the v13 so much. I will look at the v14 on Black Friday 2025 along with the More v5 but it may be that I just keep buying the v13 until the v15 comes out. The 880v15 has a 40 mm stack so I expect the 1080v15 will go to 41-43 mm. I used to use aftermarket insoles back around 2015-2018 for additional cushioning and arch support but found that they were no longer necessary after the 1080v10 or maybe the v9. For me, higher stack has meant that an aftermarket insole isn't needed to prevent injuries.
Awesome. That’s really nice when you find a shoe that just SINGS for ya. In this case the 13. Heck yes it’s discounted! You found a good one. Use em up, foams are good for about a year so I heard but that’s a loose rule IMO. it’ll be interesting what they do with the 15. The more v6 is on the way so will be interesting that way too. Havent tried the 880s. Great stuff! Thanks!
Freaky 😂😂😂
😀😀 couldn’t be helped
Soooooo looking forward to the Hoka Mach X3. What an awesome shoe once I conquered the heel blister issue.
Yes! Moleskin for the win. Also the new heel collar for the 3 looks good
Ugly 2025
Could have better colorways
I've been glued to FloTrack. They've been streaming live at TRE since opening day.
Heck yes. I’ve popped on a couple times. Great channel and great coverage. Might try to make the event in 25
@RunningNPAdventures That would be cool.
It seems as though every new running shoe that comes out has got a minimum of 40mm stack height now.
YES! exactly. Except for everyone’s racing offering they say F the rules
Did you get any arch pain from this shoe? I’m wanting to love it but it feels like there’s a golf ball in the arch?!?
Hey there! I’m so sorry it feels that way. Dang. No I don’t have any arch pain. I like the prominent arch on the Atmos. It’s one of the bigger more filling arches out there. I just put them back on for a refresher. Really nice shoe if you can stand the arch if not there are lower arch, wide toe box options still out there. Sorry man
Just spraying ideas: maybe the mount to coast s1, asics Novablast or altra torin to name a few
Since I started using a shoe rotation, I have found that I am far less prone to injury and that even the number of niggles and joint aches that I get are far fewer. Plus the shoes themselves seem to last longer, with being rested.
That’s great to hear. Anything that keeps us running longer and injury reduced is a good thing all around. Happy for ya and your shoes thank you also 😌
💯 with everything you listed. In addition to rotating heel drops and stack heights, I'd like to add rotating midsole materials; i.e., EVA, PEBA, TPEE, TPU, etc. to the list.
You are Absolutely right, different compounds can have a role in the mix as well. This doesn’t include plates and what not. I also heard it mentioned as we knew that shoes need 24 hrs to re-expand after a run. Also to not hoard shoes as they break down overtime in as little as a year. Interesting
I’m a shoe hoarder. Oops
@RunningNPAdventures Definitely. I never wear the same shoe two days in a row to allow the midsole to relax. Helps with shoe longevity.
@RunningNPAdventures Ditto. Retired running shoes become gym 🏋️♀️ shoes.
Yup. Yard work 😌
Thank you so much for covering and comparing the different Mount to Coast shoes. Much appreciated. I would really like to try one of these. I don’t like overly soft midsoles but that’s the way the market seems to be going.
Wow that’s awesome. Thank you-this was fun to compare their entire line. Agreed these are a refreshingly doffeeent option from all the mega squish out there. That said, these ain’t stiff bricks but lively and lovely and so supportive. I’m reminded of specs of shoes from the previous generation (pre Vaporfly) but with modern PEBA attitude and a seriously durable design
@ I was thinking of ordering the S1, but then I saw last week that ASICS web site had the Superblast 2 in stock and I grabbed a pair in 12.5 before they ran out. I hope I don’t regret getting the S1 instead. Maybe you could compare the Mou t to Coast shoes to things like the Superblast 2 or Glideride Max sometime. I’m running in the Mizuno Wave Rider 25 right now.
I'm convinced that running shoe stores get higher margins on Hoka and ON Running shoes. Every time I walk into a running shoe store, I see half the customers trying Hoka and the other half trying ON.
My population is nursing and medical and yes it’s Brooks, HOKA and On. Im trying Lems Trail Head for work for the moment. Cosmic blue 😌 tinyurl.com/yc2kr8h6
Digging the badges of honor on the toenails.
Yessir. That’s from the summer (Balos) the show must go on 👍
@RunningNPAdventures Indeed. Been there.
Excellent content, as always! Really hope your channel takes off
Thank you so much! I’m hoping to add my 0.02 to the beautiful running corner on YT. Appreciate you as always 👍
Wow, this was a very nice summary of the running phases of gait! This literally brought me back to my applied anatomy classes I took for my exercise science degree lol. I just recently fumbled upon this channel looking at different shoe reviews, but I think your reviews are some of the most unique ones in regards to your background. Just subscribed, amazing content!
Oh wow! Hey that’s great. Yup I can hear my old instructors too 😆 I wondered how I could contribute to the running space coming from a podiatry and love for running place. I like to deep dive into the shoes and give the viewer a really thorough and thoughtful review. I think that pays respect to people’s time and the designers and companies that make the shoes. Figured sneak a little generalized med in there too to get my geeknerd out 🤓 thanks for joining!! Are you still in the exercise sci space?
@@RunningNPAdventures For sure! Many people don't think about all the muscles involved in both running and walking. I'm currently working in a non-invasive cardiology department for stress testing, just graduated in May with my Master's degree 🙂 Still enjoy learning from others though, you can never learn too much lol.
@ wow congratulations on the higher ed. I’ve worked closely with non invasive cards before you guys are awesome! I think it’s wonderful and a nod to great design that we don’t have to think about walking and running. If I did, I wouldn’t get anywhere
@@RunningNPAdventures Thank you! Yeah, we tend to take much of it for granted without realizing it lol.
@yeah but it’s all good
I'm a beginner runner 5'10 74kgs lean. Currently using the 1080v12s and looking for an upgrade. This or the 1080v14 as a daily trainer/beater shoes? The v14s are a little cheaper but If the Asics are worth for a little more then I'll take them
Wow great question. You like the 1080 and the 14 is really nice and cheaper than the sb2. I’d say check out the sb2. Especially as a new runner. I think the SUPERBLAST is really a good all around shoe that shouldn’t take much to get into it. The build quality makes me think it will last a really long time. Maybe give it a spin. Consider sizing a half size up is what happened for me and a handful of others. Good luck
Nice summary, thank you. Could you do a video on “engaging the glutes”? I hear this term all the time, but what does it mean, how do I do it while running? Am I doing it already and don’t know it, or is it something that we should activate deliberately and feel it when it happens? Any idea advice would be welcomed. Thank you. 💍👈🏻 Gluteus: engage me! 😂
Nice! Honestly, I can’t say I’ve thought to much or have any better opinions about engaging the glutes. There are folks out there that talk about it. From my experience I aim for a decent nod toward generalized all body strength with a lean toward core and lower body, cleanish diet, sleep and when I run I don’t want to think about anything let alone engaging. My assumption (pun intended?) is that my glutes engage as much as they need too as long as I have decent form and feel good. If you wanted to engage it then you shoulda put a ring on it 💍 😆
Everything you ever wanted to know about running muscles but were afraid to ask.
1. Howdy 2. That’s along the lines of title I originally had. “Muscles I don’t think about…” but SEO 🙄 3. There’s more…don’t get me started on ATP and definitely not the Krebs cycle 4. Thank you sir
@@RunningNPAdventures I'm partial to the Randle Cycle myself.
I bet! ♻️ I’ve seen the challenge results Bravo 👏 btw
@@RunningNPAdventures Many thx
Never thought I'd find a NB shoe I loved to run in more than the More v4. Well.. 😍
The v14 is a heck of a shoe. I have run in the v13, the more v4 and v5. This 1080 v14 exceeds my expectations 👍
Bzzt, try again
Thanks for watching
Excellent all around review of this shoe. I’m evaluating it for purchase and you really nailed all the aspects that I like to know. Excellent excellent analysis!🤩
Wow thank you so much! I’m glad the review helped. I try to be comprehensive with the reviews. Appreciate you watching
The apparent quality of these shoes is always the thing that grabs me. I would be more interested in them as a leisure shoe than as a running shoe, principally because of the double figure drop. My vote for best Dad Shoe goes to the P1. 👍
Right on. I agree that the quality is there. Feels well thought out material wise. The high drop is a thing for sure. The zero sag in the s1 and the 3D arch rail on the p1 makes it feels a bit less. Plus the goflow midsole. Really encouraging to that forward motion. These work well as a leisure shoe. They look spiffy! The p1 is on the heavy side but super practical, comfortable and matchs all my regular cut jeans (tshirt tucked in). So perfect dad shoe!
