    About the prayer thing ....., usually men go to the mosque to pray but around 1% of women go as well , women are suppost to pray in their home but praying in the mosque is also fine | , women and men are saparated in prayer so both gender use different doors , so u might not be able to see them ( I am maldivian )
    And if it's friday , you see 1% of women outside at the time 11am and 13 pm Bc friday is a eid for muslims , there will be 2 prayer at noon only on fridays , first is the usual dhuhur prayer ,( everyone can pray ) And hukuru ( only men can pray ) ,
    So while the men are at the mosque , women prepare food for the men
    ( sorry for the long explination )

    It’s Friday and during the prayer time, women are likely home and preparing food for lunch as all eat together after men come home from Friday prayer. Otherwise, Maldivian women do go out freely and are part of the work force as well.
    The pockets of men you might be seeing in some of the park areas are likely foreign workers. It’s their off day from work and take the day to hang out with their friends, mostly in public places as they might not have privacy in the places they live with other co-workers.
    You should stay during Friday evening hours or other days to see that both men and women are on the streets of Male’. Maldivians women do ride motorbikes or mopeds/scooter on the streets too.

    Hi. There are some great coffeshops like "Jazz Caffee" in Male. For daytrips very good options are the Islands of Gulhi, Huraa and Villingili. I would recommend the restaurants where the locals are going to eat. For lounging I would recommend Central Park in Hulhumale and Lonuziyaaraiy Park in Male. Greetings, Dominik.

    Wait so Maldives is more than one island? Hmmm or is this a town in Maldives. I must of missed it. You guys are bold ❤. Seems so quiet and seems like a transient place? Where people are from everywhere. Wonder where are the natives and women?😊 I would definitely love to visit those beautiful beaches. Congratulations on your nuptials also. Thanks for sharing 🎉❤❤🎉

    You are seeing few women because of the time and day. It’s Friday and the middle of prayer time. Friday prayer is a wajib for men. And I guess it’s culture that women choose to stay at home at that time. Otherwise at any time, you will definitely see women.

    I wonder why no alcohol allowed on the island and secondly why the modesty both in the city and beaches?

    • @iisha94
      @iisha94 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thats because Maldives is an Islamic nation, and it is common courtesy to follow those rules in inhabited local islands, while you are free to consume alcohol and dress however you would want to in resorts 👍

      In some religions, women shouldn't be out or be seen. I wonder if that applies to that region?

    • @Livingtheglobe
      @Livingtheglobe  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hawaiibound62 What we found out is women typically pray at home and the men would go to the Mosque.
