Great choice!! This was fantastic from day one back in theaters. Denzel patterned his character after Officer Raphael Perez, who was part of the Rampart investigative unit, who were allegedly involved in the murder of The Notorious BIG, among other things. In fact, if you look at license plates on Alonzo’s Monte Carlo (not the Buick Regal, which was related, as were the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Pontiac Gran Prix), the license plate reads “ORP-967”, or “Officer Raphael Perez - 1967”. This movie is one of the greatest movies ever made. Ethan Hawke is a great actor and Denzel fully deserved the Oscar he won for the role he played here. I once heard Training Day be described as being so epic that it stands in the same light as movies like Titanic or Dances With Wolves. Great reaction. You two are my favorite of the couples reactors out there. Keep em coming. ❤❤❤❤
Denzel was awesome in this.. but Russell Crowe would've got the Oscar for A Beautiful Mind if he hadn't recently thrown a telephone at a hotel worker 🤣
There’s an alternate ending that is the same only those suits that Alonzo met show up to Jake’s house after everything and they ask him about the money and Jake simply tells them what he did with it and to leave.
Antione Fuqua also directed "Shooter" with Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover. Its an absolute must watch movie. I'm from LA, and I can tell you I recognize ALL of those neighborhoods. Everything about it is the real deal. That's how it is in those streets. The Cypress Hill playing through the film gets me thinking about all that time back then. Back in the 90s there was a LOT of gang violence and escalation with cops, and yeah those guys were shaking down everyone, even people they had no business messing with. This movie came out in 2001. You could NEVER pay me enough to be a cop in LA county, much less the city of LA.
This is how he earned am Oscar! This was Denzel first time playing a dirty character, they wanted to cast him in as a different type of character and he definitely did that thang!
At the end when the Russians shoot Alonzo(Denzel), you see him struggling to breathe. The director said that that was to parallel when Denzel shot Roger with the shotgun earlier and Roger couldn't breathe.
Legit one of the greatest movies ever made and Denzel gave one of the greatest acting performances of all time. The King Kong scene still gives me chills every time I see it
This was fine acting in this movie. One of my top faves. I need to see his badge 🤣 I think the group of 5 was Alonzos 4 guys and Alonzo was 5 and Jake would make the 6th person. Roger was not a cop i don't believe
On the Special Edition DVD of this movie there is an alternate ending in the bonus features. I think that's the ending you just saw. The other ending is really good too, but I'm not gonna tell you what happens.
The license plate on Alonzo's car is "ORP 967," a nod to Officer Rafael Perez, the disgraced L.A.P.D. officer who was born in 1967, and on whom Denzel's character was based.
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this movie was on the big screen. I saw this movie with my brother on opening weekend to a completely packed theatre that was completely silent and shocked for every turn Alonzo Harris took! I still remember the gasps in the theatre. It was amazing. Denzel was absolutely incredible in this film. For me, Russell Crowe deserved the Oscar for "The Beautiful Mind". However, I was completely excited, Denzel, the person & actor won the Oscar! He should've won Best Oscar for "Malcolm X", however, the Academey knew they could not ignore him anymore (for Leading Actor; he won Supporting Actor for "Glory"). Of course, for Denzel to be this amazing antagonist, you need an equally great protagonist. Ethan Hawke was also amazing, probably his best performance to date! Thank you for the great reaction. It brought back incredible memories. Lots of love from Canada! Love your channel! :) Asia, exactly, "This is a lot going on in the same day. When do we each lunch?" OMG, I felt the same way! :)
Ethan Hawke is a great actor. All his films are fantastic. Back when he was younger he did White Fang, Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites. He was the romantic lead in in romance films like Great Expectations, the trilogy of films: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight. He fell in love and married Uma Thurman (whom you guys know from Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill movies), who he met on the Syfy movie that they did together called Gattaca. That's an excellent film, too. You should watch that one. Uma and Ethan had a daughter, Maya Hawke, and you guys know her from the Stranger Things series. Ethan cheated on Uma with the nanny back in the day and so Uma divorced him, which was unfortunate all around. He did end up marrying the nanny and had two children with her. Ethan hawke was also in the movie The Purge and I think you guys have seen that too, right?? He was in Getaway, Boyhood, Predestination, Good Kill, Sinister, 24 Hours to Live. He played Tesla, the inventor of many things including radio in a movie of the same name, and although most of his movies are very serious and intense, he did do a lighthearted comedy called Juliet, Naked which is very good. Recently he did Black Phone, The Northmen and the Green Onion. He's one of my favorite actors and he's always good in everything that he does. ❤
I just realized that before Denzel brings Ethan Hawke to the Mexican's house to be killed he calls them and you can hear him say "make sure the tub is clean"
It's amazing how much Denzel improvised the dialogue. He stayed within the original script but ad-libbed his flavor and additional dialogue in scenes that include the diner scene, the confrontation with the 2 crackheads and of course, the "King Kong ain't got...." scene
One thing overlooked is Alonzo picked the Hispanic gang to kill Jake because he knew who they were and found pleasure in them.killing him after saving a family member of Thiers.
Alonzo calls the Hillside tres gang to kill Jake after Jake wouldn't take some of the money after Roger's murder. You can hear Alozo talking on the phone and saying "Make sure the tub is clean", before driving Jake to them. Cold blooded. Great movie! Ethan Hawke movie - "Predestination" Good one.

haha..I was bout to snatch a Black Card but then I have to remember how young most these TH-camrs n Reactors are, looool!!!! Luuuuv her face the whole time watching it!!! She was so confused at Denzels demeanor!!!!
This movie is a great nasty LAPD tale. Another good one from the era is Dark Blue with Kurt Russel.
Ethan Hawke . Assault on Precinct 13, Great movie
Denzel was awesome in this.. but Russell Crowe would've got the Oscar for A Beautiful Mind if he hadn't recently thrown a telephone at a hotel worker 🤣
To this day, I think this is one of the greatest movies ever made! Just absolute top tier!
Mo Better Blues is a Spike Lee joint. Denzel plays a jazzman.
Great movie and great reaction 😎💪👍💯💯.... and that is a Monte Carlo on switches
........1979
I think y'all mean Tuco Salamanca! "Chico..." lmao 😆
This is how he earned am Oscar! This was Denzel first time playing a dirty character, they wanted to cast him in as a different type of character and he definitely did that thang!
The Magnificent Seven is a great movie, and it has Ethan and Denzel in it.
The King Kong scene still gives me chills every time I see it
"When do we eat lunch??" -Asia asking the real questions 😂
This was fine acting in this movie. One of my top faves. I need to see his badge 🤣
I think the group of 5 was Alonzos 4 guys and Alonzo was 5 and Jake would make the 6th person. Roger was not a cop i don't believe
Like Tom Cruz in collateral, this guy plays an excellent bad guy.
This is one of the favorites!! Another great, old Denzel movie to watch... He Got Game
Asia, exactly, "This is a lot going on in the same day. When do we each lunch?" OMG, I felt the same way! :)
This is such a good movie. So many great actors.
Another dope movie with Denzel and Ethan is Magnificent 7
18:55 She's Macy gray.
American gangster is also a great watch! Don't see many reacting to it but it's quality in my opinion 👌
I will never forget this film its definitely a favorite movie of all time of mine.
U guys are THE BEST!!! 😎👍 With LOVE 💋💞❤😘 from Russia!!!
"This a long day, when do we eat lunch?" LOL
Nice reaction y'all.
Ethan Hawke, off the top of my head, here are some movies I think of - Before Sunrise, Reality Bites, The Purge, The Black Phone
An Angel Soft toilet paper ad popped up right after he shot him in the ass!! That was hilarious 😆😆😆
I just realized that before Denzel brings Ethan Hawke to the Mexican's house to be killed he calls them and you can hear him say "make sure the tub is clean"
And that is why the movie is called "Training DAY"!
“I been planning it all week son!” ❤ amazing film. Top 100 for sure
Thank you, guys!
PS: That Cari Lekebusch's dubby joint is something else! 🎉
"Damn! There's a lot going on in one day. When do we eat lunch?"
Oh, Asia. ❤
6:14 is actually a Monte Carlo
Another excellent Denzel movie is American Gangster. He got Frank Lucas to a T. IMO Denzel should have received another Oscar for that role.
