    You can actually tinker with the regeneration of the brakes by changing it to Comfort where it’s less to non existent. I typically use sports mode + save on motorway to charge the battery and get that responsive throttle/gearbox and Comfort for town electric driving. What fun cars to drive, both X2 and Active Tourer 225xe.

    I have bought one and agree with most of what is said here. My main gripe with the car is the limited range due to the small fuel tank. This is only just about 200 miles. Driving locally I don’t have to visit the fuel station but on a long run from Manchester to Winchester, for example, I have to refill on the motorway, which I hate doing.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, it has a 36-litre fuel tank; good point!

    I have one of the first models of the PHEV off the production line in October last year, changing from 5 previous 520D series models over last 12years, I like the car, but as you say it is not perfect. I find the electric range since I have had the car around 20miles, but after 2 days of weather in the 20deg this week amazingly I have hit nearly 30 miles so very temperature sensitive on battery life. Lovely to drive in all electric, I find the petrol engine through gearbox a little noisy when it cuts in at low speed, almost sounds like an early diesel car! Not great. My biggest gripe is for a latest model phev, BMW fitted the old idrive system, not 7 and the original ev control system, not the latest as 330e which really annoys me when spending £45k! It's like buying a new phone to find the OS is 5years out of date, so big minus from me on that. I also find that the auto drive mode is not as good as it could be, it tries to use the battery too much, for me above 20mph, the car should default to the engine, and save battery for low speed where it excels, but it tries to use all electric until nearly exhausted , also in snow or ice I am not sure it is a true xdrive, it would be good to have a traction mode which forces drive to all the wheels to make it all wheel drive, I find in bad weather I end up selecting SAVE mode to force the engine to operate all the time to take advantage of the front wheel drive. Overall I like the car, but it could be so much better with a few of these points resolved. By the way I find the sound system awesome on quality, don't know what others are on about. I have the same model and colour as reviewed, without HUD and Professional Info package.

    Lane assist works perfectly on mine. Didn’t aid your safety? I’m so confused. It’s there to help if you start wondering into another lane.

    • @TotallyEV

      Some don't want it nor require it, especially when you're not on the motorway. For example, on country roads where the road markings aren't clear, said systems often cause issues - like pulling you towards the hedges instead of allowing you to drive how you should.

    Really a very good review. Compliments! One question. Can you move the backseats also a few inches forward to get some extra luggage space like with the X1 ? When yes, how much liters extra space does it give you.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it!
      Good question: from memory, no it can't be moved, but we could be wrong!

    • @ronnie9187
      @ronnie9187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotallyEV Thanks, I hoped you know what I was meaning. With the X1 it is possible but as an option. th-cam.com/video/uX4fhNuvnRY/w-d-xo.html. It is very handy, if you travel with no passengers you have extra luggage room. The X2 is the more beautiful and stylish car, but the X1 is more practical. Difficult choice. It is a pity that both cars still don't have the fully digital cockpit. But anyway, I will buy a new car in two years and then the upgrades should be in place.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ronnie9187 indeed, know what you mean, just not sure if it's actually possible in the X2; might be best asking BMW about it - could even depend on your territory (ie some countries might offer it while others might not!).
      Indeed, the X1 is generally seen as the more practical but less fun vehicle to drive vs the X2.

      @@TotallyEV I am enjoying my BMW X2 Plugin Hybrid only thing I not happy it does not fully charge over night at Home 3 pin plug. During the summer it was charging 29 mls, now in the winter it is only charging 19mls. i contacted BMW they said in the winter Lithium Battery takes longer due to the cold condition.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing! Can't recall, but maybe there's a battery saving feature (for cold climate) in the infotainment system - have you checked to see if there's anything you can disable to make sure you get the full mileage?

    The BMW M steering wheel is the best one on the market, you cannot seriously ask for it to be thinner, these are the lower spec steering wheels.
