Foul play (in very rare cases) can’t be ruled out but it may be extremely rare. There is absolutely no reason for a foul play. You can simply go home yourself and join another vessel.

I m not a maritime expert but from the related videos seen on youtube, to me most vulnerable time to fell in sea is during transfer of crew members from boat to ship..using rope ladder without any additional safety and relative motion of the boat and ship can cause anyone to slip and fell…
