Captain, why do modern shipping companies, with such huge ships, like the Ever given, believe in cost reduction, by keeping a crew of just 25, to man the ship. In times of crisis/calamity/catastrophe does not a crew of just 25, prove to be a major limiting factor ????? Is not the crew cost miniscule as compared to other costs such as fuel, maintenance, loading, unloading, ports, insurance and cargo revenues ????? What is the point of such cost reduction in the case of modern ship liners ?????? The same cost reduction is not so glaring or apparent in the case of modern day aircrafts, which have their standard crew strength predetermined ?????
