A disappointing video. Adults with SSD and perfect hearing on the other side are being denied coverage because they aren't bilaterally deaf. Well, when it says in black and white that you must be deaf in both ears, what do you put in the appeal? Most don't need to just hear, "stay positive" and "work with your team." How and what to say? Most peer-to-peer reviews aren't peer to peer. It is a surgeon skilled in CI and an Medical Director at the insurance company that cashed in on an insurance job and left a family practice. If you went that person for SSD, they'd actually have to refer you to an ENT; yet they get to deny you. Anyway, I know you want to be helpful; but this video disappoints, appealing to only the hearing compromised person on day 1 of their journey. Who concretely represents the under-represented class of adults with SSD, with employee sponsored health-insurance, that are denied? If you can tell me that; I could "stay positive." Thus far, the surgeon, Audiologist, employer's HR, and we have had no success and not for lack of trying (and trying to stay positive.)
