Dorian McCloud 8020.net, faztek.com, grangier.com, easiest I’ve found is zoro.com, mitsumi us has the widest selection. But $$$. Also McMasterCarr. That particular type is around $50 per length. But 1”x 1” x48” is around $17. Gets very expensive fast. It’s called Aluminum Extrusion and it’s a fantastic building material but you will crap yourself if you just start buying Willy nilly and see the total. ESP the accessories. Faztek and 8020 are the principle US manufacturers of the stuff. Comes in series. 10 series is 1”, 20 series is 20 mm, 25 series is between metric and US at 25 mm, also 40 series, 45 series etc. 8020.net has some good into tutorials. Can get it off eBay too. But you’ll generally pay more. Again, zoro is your best bet, and then for accessories use amazon and eBay (screws, binding nuts, plates) because the official parts are way overpriced

Hmmm I wonder if I can figure out how to get zoro to send me another discount coupon from this post... I signed up for zoro emails and every so often, especially if I leave things in my cart they send me 10,15 or 20% off coupons to get me to buy. Which is what I generally wait for. I like zoro because it’s really Grainger you’re buying from - same prices - but you get coupons occasionally and free shipping over $50. Which as I mentioned for extrusion can be as little as a single length of extrusion. Pretty stiff, pretty strong, can cut it with tools you have on hand, doesn’t rust. Obviously it’s not steel but you know. I think it’s a marketing slogan - but I’ve heard it called erector sets for adults. I really wish Home Depot would carry the stuff. Instead they carry unistrut /superstrut which is stronger but much less dynamic. And a bit more expensive

Also, sorry. Realized this is a year old. Why is this popping up for me now. F-ing algorithms. It’s just a big simple linear actuator with a threaded rod.

@@altimmons Hi, can you tell me what kind of motor you are using? I have the same project due for my senior project and I cant find out what motor i should use. We are lifting 80lbs using the lead screw.

wait, buying from zoro is actually buying from Grainger?
