  • This is a long video! Many new 'tables were introduced at High End Munich including The all in one The + Record Player, the result of an international design team, that features a Pro-Ject supplied 'table atop a built in sound system carefully isolated from the 'table, the idler wheel drive Blackstone from Italy shown in static display at previous shows, a new compact Thales TTT turntable with tangential tracking pivoted arm for around $9000, and the intriguing looking Cantano. There's are new 'tables from Perpetuum-Ebner and Dereneviille's Modulaire, which was fitted with the DTT-03 tangential tracking tonearm, a prototype of which was shown last year. There's a new Transrotor 'table, one from Triangle Arts and one from Reed, the Muse 1C with 5T tangential tracking pivoted tonearm. Lots of eye and ear candy!

It's amazing how much they can ask for audio equipment. I just buy vintage stereo , not perfect but a fraction of the cost and if a little handy can make a pretty good system . But it's nice to see the latest greatest.

Pffft I have banana plugs that cost twice as much as these tables.
My weight is carved from solid material not yet named, mined from the core of the moon.
I have 9 different tone arms all tuned to different sound signatures of my liking, which complement every genre of music i own perfectly.
My bearing is a hologram with physical properties.
My motor has its own room and runs off the energy generated from the nucleus of a star, which also has it's own room.
My platter is suspended by quantum locking and is completely frictionless, in theory once it starts spinning it will spin forever and at perfect speed.
My mat is made from baby seal skin.
My plinth floats in zero gravity.
All of this is operated by me simply thinking of an album to play, my system selects the record from my shelf, adjusts the sound signature, tunes my room and plays my record while cleaning it.
My listening room is a vacuum, completely dust free and perfectly temperature controlled and sound proofed.
Most of the time I just listen to AM radio or mp3s on $2 headphones that my son chewed the cord on though.

It was sarcasm, relax! sorry you didn't see the humor in it.
I'm a analog vinyl guy like you, my grandmother and my father both worked at CBS records in Sydney back in the day pressing records.
I now posses all the records they would bring home.
I'm a fan of yours and being a fan I understand your personality a little and I know you can take things the wrong way as you have clearly done here, I find it kind of funny actually.
I won't be going to no digital site. But you do have a strange way of treating your subscribers and fans.

Clearly, It sounds as if he doesn't take criticism well..... even if it is... satirical. I am glad he didn't revert to the lowest common denominator with me. I am a lover of music as well and own several turntables including some dual direct drives, a yamaha px-3, a pioneer pll-1000, sota saphire and linn lp12 just to name a few. Problem is the more I listened to the higher priced turntables the less I was impressed. In the 90's I did listen to a fabulous vpi set up one time at a showroom with a moving coil cartridge don't remember what kind. vs moving magnet v15 that I owned. It sounded better but the cartridge was 1000 and the step up transformer was 500. that didn't include the turntable, it was only 2000 and it didn't lift at the end of the record or shut off either..........because as audiophiles, we can't be bothered with those conveniences. The setup was more than the car I was driving.

Bright and beautiful machines for sure, but please consider if the company will be around for parts and service before you choose.
I am still happy with my local made Oracle and it's SME arm and Ortofon cartridge for both sound quality and ease of getting upgrades and repairs.
It is wonderful to dream though!!!

I love your channel. I have been watching your stuff for years. Your record reviews are great. Especially the ones about the Beatles new releases. Also because of your CleanerVinyl review I bought their products and could not be happier at how well they work. The reason I am writing this is about a possible full turntable review of the Small Audio Manufacture Reference Turntable including their tonearm. I have been looking all over the internet trying to find a complete review of their products. The only thing I have is from many years ago of their entry table. I keep seeing their turntables on Ebay and they seem to have the potential of being a fantastic table. I am not sure if their arm would be the one I would use, but you can have two tonearms mounted on it. From the bits and pieces found the owner seems to be a stand up guy. I wonder if he would send you some of his products for you to review them. I am not sure how that works. I trust you would do a great review of their products.

Analog Planet I have watched quite a lot of your videos but never actually got your opinion on Tangential Tracking Arms. Are you not fond of 'em and why not? Also kudos to Derrenville Modulaire TT. And that is really awesome that they would sell you the motor. Sounds like an opportunity for DIY-ers

With all the new poorly pressed records these days, buying one of these turntables would be like buying a $1,000,000 kitchen to make mac n' cheese. I'm sure vintage vinyl sounds good on them, though.

Last year I attended the Toronto TAVES audio trade show. Disappointed to say the least at the poor caliber of the setups and overall cost vs performance ratio of most of the gear I heard. Most of demonstrators aren't even qualified to set up a system much less judge it's quality. This is fast becoming the norm these days at consumer audio trade shows compared to the good old days when people in the industry were discerning audio enthusiasts. There are notable exceptions such as T.H.E. SHOW at CES but then they won't allow consumers like me to attend. The rule is... the better the show the less likely Joe consumer is allowed in.
Side note... in 2004 I was lucky to get in to see the CES as a guest of Audionote NA). The Audionote demo got rave reports in the journals but ironically none of the reporters seemed to notice the system was in mono seeing as one of the AN mono tube amps malfunctioned. Peter Q of AN said they'll most likely not notice... he was right.

don't let this guy bother you he is probably having a bad day the audiophile sect have very strong opinions however you can't get more off the record than what the engineers allowed to go on it . every mix is just that gives and takes if its done right its wonderful, if not, its not the fault of the player, cartridge, wiring etc. And by the same token if it sounds great its not all due to the player ,cart etc.
All forms of playback have the same strengths and weaknesses I don't think any form of recorded music will ever sound like the live performance and think about it haven't we all heard terrific live music and also horrific live music so teach the new engineers how it was done when record companys really cared about producing nice sounding reproductions of the terrific and the horrific so we all can get along

There are still pretty good deals for vintage Sansui or Technics turntables on for example ebay. If you have a CD-combo system you just have to purchase a phono-preamp for example a Pro-Ject Phonobox 5 for around 100€. Getting into vinyl is not expensive at all. Making it your profession is something else. I can't understand these high prizes either. If you can afford it - go ahead.

    • @bikemike1118
      @bikemike1118 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The most expensive turntable doesn’t help if the rest of your chain cannot keep up with it. To really get the best out of a turntable of that price you have to spend about 200.000 for your complete chain (bought new at dealership-prizes). That’s why it’s called CHAIN…one strong link doesn’t help…

I've worked with many wealthy business owners and professionals both during my Banking and Marketing days, some of these guys regularly bet as much on a single hole of Golf as lower-middle income folk make all year, I've seen it. Better them spending the money, putting it back into circulation, than hording it.

Belt drive turntable are crap. Every min. 1000 rotations the belt loses original elasticity and grip. No speed monitoring/ correction to compensate belt deviation. You want an accurate belt drive table, get a CS5000. Otherwise use an audiophile direct drive for absolute speed accuracy.

This turntable is a piece of crap. I have a duel 721 direct drive from 1978 that puts all these to shame ,and if you make a small waterbed to set your turntable on it will be perfectly isolated from subsonic feedback! I can set my turntable on it waterbed platform on top of my subwoofer at full volume with absolutely no feedback ! Try it. It works far better than a massive platter or a slab of marble or concrete. And cheeper and easier to move. I aquired a demonstration waterbed that is the perfect size to place my two 721's on side by side inside a small frame its easy to move i just drain the mattress move and fill with a garden hose it takes 3min. To fill and 5min. To drain. And no strain on my back!

I meant that in all the time we've had to develop turntables it seems we are going backwards. Multi-thousand dollar units that won't even lift the arm at the end or play specific tracks? Why? We had great turntables in the 70's-80's that would do that! Now it seems we like to "Show" how sophisticated these turntables are but they won't do anything a cheap pioneer belt drive won't do. Except sound better, maybe, perhaps sound better, as long as you have multi-thousand dollar amplifier, speaker, preamp, etcetera!

    • @Zockopa
      @Zockopa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Certainly not. Turntables are old tec who reached the maximum possible quality around 1980. Yet since
years the market just reinvents the wheel anew repeatedly and pretends to have achieved something.
Its just PR BS for a specific clientel.
From the engineering perspective any frickelfest is more interesting than this.

Well, than tell me what advantages has the normal Joe or Jane buying a new turntable for a couple hundred
bucks against say an old used Dual from 1975 ? Where are the technological advancements made in this
field in the last 30 years in products common people can afford ?

all these piles of shiny cylinders are just ugly, and i'm sure it's greatly outperformed by simpler, well engineered tables like Rega

You have something in your mouth while talking to someone. That's the point. Caviar or breath mint or bubble gum - doesn't matter what. You are talking and chewing - absolute vulgarity. Also, your language here, in your reply proves my statement.

Why do all these guys speak in that hugely annoying "rising up towards end of sentence" nasal tone as if each statement is a question? It's hugely annoying and they all seem ti do it! Men should speak like men, with confidence, not like little schoolgirls!
