      I have practically worn my wobble extensions out. There are so many times when you just can't get a socket/extension into a bolt straight. Seems like something is always in the way. I use my universal joint adapters a lot, but it's easier to just use my (Snap -On) wobble extensions when all you need a is couple of degrees offset. Yup - I've had 'em for decades and I agree with your statement.

    I been using husky tools since 1968. I never had a problem with husky tools. I gave my husky tools to my son so he had something to work with. Husky tools are affordable and quality tools.

    I bought this set for me and two other mechanics, we work on heavy equipment constantly, we've warranties 3 tools between us in 3 years. Home Depot is everywhere so warranty is easy and no questions asked. The set in lacking in a few minor things but not by too much.

    It's funny how you say the ratchets remind you of Gearwrench ratchets...because all the Husky wrenches/ratchets and sockets are made by Apex so they basically are Gearwrench. This set made by Apex. The wobbles should be able to be pushed on to set it deeper in the socket and work like a standard extension.
    Great review and set breakdown. I wish they stopped doing 12 point sockets for store brands in the larger sizes. Kobalt does the same thing, at a certain size you can only get 12 point. #WorkshoAddict

    Nice review. I like the wobble extensions myself, though I do have both. I also like the locking extension. Working on cars it usually makes it to the ground, or isn't too tough to get at, but losing a socket in the bottom of the boat is a whole different story. Losing a stainless fastener is even more fun, because they're not magnetic!

  • @Bigchuck678

    I agree. Had the 1/2" been 6 point, this kit would be damn near perfect as a starter set. Northern tool has a starter kit that has less pieces, but everything is 6 point. Bostitch also had a really complete starter set, but they stopped selling them. I think overall this set is awesome and are a great value.

    I bought the 1025 master kit that basically includes almost everything. It replaced a 20 year old craftsman set along with various other small socket/wrench sets Ive purchased (mostly from Harbor Freight)over the years as I lost pieces of the craftsman kit. Husky tools are made by Apex Tools which also makes gear wrench. Quite a few tools in the kit seem to be exactly the same as gear wrench. My father called and spoke to Apex and they told him they make tools for lots of different companies and they are all mostly the same. I havent had to warranty anything but was missing 2 tools in the kit. I called customer service and with no hassle, no receipt and basically the only questions were, name address and verified the parts, had them shipped out to me. To me the tools are every bit as good as my USA craftman stuff. I replaced the engine in my car after buying the kit and had every tool needed to do the job and didnt strip any bolts. I used tools I never knew I needed such as the flex head ratcheting wrench, and flex head ratchet. I used the 24" breaker bar to spin the seized engine so I could remove the flex plate bolts from the torque convertor. All the sockets and wrenches gripped bolt heads tightly without alot of play. Never busted my knuckles due to slipping. The impact sockets held up well. I used them on my Milwaukee 2967 High torque. I highly recommend the husky tools and it seems like dealing with Apex for warranty will be easy if you cant get replacement straight from Home depot.

    Not bad, really. I have the normal torx socket set and really like it. I was surprised by the finish and the chamfered bits do make fitting on fasteners easier. I would have preferred USA Craftsman, but these were more readily available and the warranty is good, especially for $15. No complaints yet. Great review, guys. #workshopaddict

    Wobble extensions, love mine, but not suitable for every application, have sets of both on hand. The tools, I have a bag of Husky tools on my truck, they work just as good as a pile of Snap On. My truck does not care what brand tools I use on her and neither do my customers, as long as I show up on time to pickup or deliver the load. GearWrench is what I have in the garage, love their 120 tooth XP ratchets, along with their 84 tooth. The flex head ratchets are the BOMB, especially in tight spaces. I keep those at the house, for when we need to really do some wrenching, wrenching not suitable on the side of the road, where hopefully we will never find ourselves. knock on wood. Like the video, good job.

    Craftsman is now at Lowes.. So i guess its still good. I asked the guy there if i would be able to warranty my Sears stuff there. He said that as long as it says "Lifetime Warranty" on the tool, it is warrantied. Basically all hand tools.

    I was looking at this set, found this review, and wanted to say thank you. I liked the early breakdown of how many of each type sockets. It makes it easy to get a feel for what's in the main component of any "mechanics tool set". New to your channel and wondering if you ever do long term updates? I'd be curious to know how the set has held up after nearly a year. I've never owned any Husky sockets, but I've never had any problems with the ones I've used owned by others. And I've used those enough to know I absolutely hate their ratchet handles. They were smooth and seemed plenty strong, but they just felt awful in the hand and if you get oil on them, that "tapered with a nub" slips right out of your grip making you have to put all the force on the nub with the pinky which can end up being painful after enough use.
    Worth mentioning, the small stuff you said you don't need 50, 60, and so on of in a set like this, makes up 123 pieces of "filler" or about 28% of the set if you include the allen keys, bits, midget wrenches, and nutsetters. That jumps up to 165 pieces or 38% of the entire set if you include the "drive bit" sockets (torx and allen/hex sockets) which always seem out of place in a set like this to me.

  • @hey.hombre
    @hey.hombre 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like a great kit. I myself avoid such kits because they have fillers. Another way to avoid fillers is to buy different kits. It may run a little more in costs but less fillers. Husky has a 200 socket kit for $199.00. 1/4, 3/8, 1/2. Not much is missing. Then a 5 rachet set for $49.00 1/4, 3/8, 1/2. For full a full wrench kit for $99.00 up to 1-1/2. Missing 1-3/16. Metric is the same. The nice thing is you don't have to buy kits all at once. I don't like screwdriver type bits that must be swapped out.

    Looks nice for a starter set. I personally love my wobble extension set. I only reach for the straight ones if there's a tough nut (you loose torque with the wobble & I've broken them trying too hard) thanks for the video. #workshopaddict

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what i was wondering. After some use, do the wobble extensions start to click. I will keep trying to use them.

    • @stephenwgreen78
      @stephenwgreen78 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      WorkshopAddict they always clicked a little for me...there's a second fulcrum created where they wobble (the hour glass shape right before detent pin) this skinny part is the weakest link...& gets the most pressure. FYI this could also mess up torque (I've done it, but wouldn't recommend it) I still love them, but would never lean into it or risk a knuckle crack if it breaks. If it's taking too much pressure grab a solid extension...or even better impact with extension. Also when they did break I was at 60 ft-lb or so 3/8 ratchet...they can take a beating...just not too much.

    I have this set. How many Westling socket racks do you suggest to hold the entire set?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buy the set that is listed first on their page. I believe it is $119 engraved. Set all your sockets up on it and see what else you want to put on them. there are some screwdriver type sockets that I rarely use that do not need to be there, but the Torx and Allen were important to me. I would order One 3/8" universal, but you may not want to.
