It's so wild how much that landscape has changed in 50 years from country land to a cityscape, and for the original gate to the property is like it's stuck in time. Very curious. Loved this video
Same thing I said!! I seriously have to make this trip from Atlanta ASAP!! I just watched this movie again last night to get into the Halloween spirit. One of my favorite Films for sure..Not just horror.
I flew to Austin on Saturday, spent the whole day creating this one. I heard a rumor that one of the filming locations was about to be destroyed/ gone forever. I made it a priority to finally make my Texas Chainsaw Massacre pilgrimage. Huge fan of the original film! I hope you enjoy my journey, this one took a lot of logistics and time, as most filming locations projects do, but THAT WIND made it the most difficult time I’ve ever had making a video. All fun tho! Thank you for always watching. I had to make sure I put a ton of LEATHERFACE matchups inside the Sawyer home and that Gas Station. Happy to present this project to the TCM fans.
Excellent work, Jay! Like I mentioned to you before, some of my favorite TH-cam videos, are filming locations videos. You've done it again with this one, sir. 👏 I love how thorough you are in matching up scenes in such perfect detail. Right on! 👍 👍 Lookin' forward to all of your future videos! Especially the filming location ones! Awesome work!
Love that you went into a restaurant where people were eating, filmed them eating (blurred, which is good) and described the disgusting horrors that went on in that room. 😂 I laughed out loud. "Honey, I think we'll go to McDonald's after all.."
Ha ha thanks. I just felt like a salad after that whole day! Oddly enough I was back out at Leatherface Road a couple days ago. The location of where the house once was about to be a condo currently under construction.
Great video. Texas Chainsaw massacre (1974) is probably my favorite horror movie. Truly creepy and relentless but not gory. The tone of this and other 70s and 80shorror movies will never be duplicated. Today’s horror movies are almost too well Produced
WELL DONE!!!! I know how difficult this one was for you and all the editing and research and hard work it took, and it shows!! So proud of you!!! I'm sorry it was so windy! I'm just thankful your hat didn't blow away too far, it would be a shame to lose that baby! :P I appreciate your "long-winded" (pun intended?) filming location videos, you are always so thorough and it's ridiculously impressive. Keep em comin! That is so awesome that restaurant has leaned into the movie like that, I know the fans have to appreciate it! And it's equally cool they let you film so much of it! Lol, your convo with grandpa!! It really is kinda crazy that a restaurant is there now... I'm just now putting that together as I'm watching this. Omg, you almost lost both your hat and your sunglasses in this vid! Someday I hope to join you on one of your filming location vids, but I have to say...... I'm glad it wasn't this one lol. 27:55 , I watched and re-watched this moment like 5 times LOL!!!! I've never been so honored or proud to be a part of your life as I am right now haha! Omg the Whataburger moment.... can't believe you got a 100% "beef" burger without me!! Oh wow, the memorial at the gas station was really cool and strangely touching. And I wasn't expecting a horror store on the inside, that is AWESOME!! LOL, the ending!! Again, so proud to be in your life
I totally forgot to tell you about lost my sunglasses too! Lol I always look forward to reading your comments thank you so much for all your support, and for watching this thing right away. I really appreciate you. Thought about you at Whataburger, thought about you all day, but especially at Whataburger. Wish you could’ve joined lol I can’t thank you enough. Let’s team up again soon. Micah ahead
Speaking as a native Texan who grew up in the Austin area. I wanted to give you a shout out for doing a job well done! Really enjoyed and appreciated the comparative analysis for each of the screen/film locations. Keep up the great work!
37:44 Never expected to get emotional over a bench but that thing is a very touching memorial for those that passed. 27:55 Gunnar would of been proud of your dance and this was such a great part of the video. So sad this area is going to be changed forever in a little while after remaining mostly untouched for all those years. TCM is my favorite movie and I always dreamed of going out to the filming locations. Maybe one day I can make it to the BBQ and stay the night in one of the cottages but by then this unfortunately will have been developed. Thanks for bringing us this great experience, you put a lot of effort into this one and it definitely shows. You helped preserve this area for everyone to see even after it is gone. Thank you
This is the first time I saw the TCM filming locations. Thanks Jay for a superb video. Good job on getting to the sight of the old house before its cleared. Don't worry, you did a great job fighting that wind, I could still understand everything you was saying.
I love how thorough you are with your explanations Jay! So glad you were able to go into the house too. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the first horror movie I ever saw. I watched it with my friends on Halloween night of my sophomore year of high school. It's so cool to see what has changed since 1974 and what's remained the same. Looks like there's been a lot of development in the area since then.
I worked in the Texas chainsaw massacre maze at Universal Studios Hollywood Horror nights 2021 and it was an absolute blast! the maze was exactly room for room just like the house! every room was spot on as well as the actors! we had the dining table, the chicken room, the gas station, the graveyard, it was a truly amazing experience, We scared so many people! and it was one year to remember. I had never seen the movie before but once i watched it I was living in it for 2 months as the hitchhiker, nubbins sawyer! it was epic! can’t wait for the next year
This is Amazing! Thank you TBJ! I’ve always wanted to do this myself and I am glad you got there before the original homestead property is developed. It’s amazing all the development in that area. You did a great job preserving this for everyone.
Only just come across your channel......... just binged watched a few of your horror location video's. These are the most thorough and detailed videos of this type I have watched. Well done, these are awesome and worth all the hard work you put into making them.

One of my ABSOLUTE filming locations!! Thanks to you, we were on this tour and were there with you. A dream come true. Again. Thank you for the detail and you really care for the Horror stories .
I don't think anyone has done a better job than you covering this film. Even Adam the Woo and Jacob the Carpetbagger on their road trip. They had the BBQ and stayed in one of the cabins. Proud to be a fellow Hoosier. Perhaps from the same hospital. 😀
Just want to say a big thank you for making and uploading this video, there’s so much information and accuracy, I plan to visit Texas from the UK later this year and I hope to visit some of these places, so happy to see this video before my journey, thanks again for such a well made video 👍🏼👍🏼
I can't believe we teens used to go inside old houses in the very same areas here. I had never seen the film until years later. We thought it was so cool sit on the porches with a few beers. We also were in a van. Crazy days! Lol
Thank you so much for this video. it looked like a real labour of love. TCM is one of my all time favourite movies and to see where the film was shot is priceless. Love all the details and what a great tribute that bench is to all the artists who have passed away. Saw is Family.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. You did an amazing job - i was even surprised to see the original location of the house and what little remained of the driveway. The gas station with the overnight cabins was my favorite and all the horror movie memorabilia inside.
Great video. I watched the 1974 movie for the first time the other week, and this was very informative and interesting. Seeing all the sets and locations almost 50 years later, just wow.
Hi Tampa Jay , I'm a 60-year-old horror fan , I lived in West Hernando so like 40 years now , due to age and health problems I can't get out much anymore and watching you go to all these horror sites like the Texas chainsaw massacre site it's amazing you brought adventure and excitement back into an old horror fans heart , I love all the old ones , Vincent Price Peter Lori , Bella Lugosi and so on , kudos to you , you seem like an amazing person ...
Awesome video Jay, I love TCM and the details you provide are wonderful, thanks for taking the time to show us these great filming locations, hope you’re having a great day.

At least we got to visit the spot before it was gone. I ate dinner at the house/restaurant. To this day it’s probably the most bizarre place I have ever had a meal.
great vid t.j. keep them coming. seems like the next logical move would be to Pennsylvania to check out the locations of george romero's night of the living dead. where it all began
According to Google Maps they have already begun construction on the site or its completed. I made it as far as the gate at the bottom of the hill a couple years ago and now wished I had gone further up to explore. AWESOME JOB!
Thank you for this video, Tampa Jay. I was fortunate in meeting Gunnar Hansen( R.I.P.) in 2008 at Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, Karloffornia. Super nice person. After seeing your amazing, thorough video. My Wife and I are going to make plans see Cinema history and visit these locations. 🤘🏻🎃
Thank you so much Lance. I always try my hardest sometimes things don’t go according to plan but I always get these filming locations my best shot and my heart.
Haha! Kingsland is 13 miles from my house and hometown! Actually, my cousin used to own the Restaurant and sold it to the current owners. Man, you were so close to me! I would of driven over real fast and said hello! Next time you're in the area give me a shout!

Haha! Kingsland is 13 miles from my house and hometown! Actually, my cousin used to own the Restaurant and sold it to the current owners. Man, you were so close to me! I would of driven over real fast and said hello!
Next time you're in the area give me a shout!
