    Great job! I did this about ten years ago with a shelter logic with the round top using standard 28 gauge corrugated roofing panels. I didn't make take as much care as you did because i had hoped it would last 3 or 4 years until I could employ a different solution...and it's still standing. Back then I think I paid about 300 dollars for treated wood framing, corrugated metal, screws, concrete etc. You really did a fantastic job.

    I have the smaller version of this. It's now 2022, and prices for everything has gone through the roof! I just put mine up last year on my OGP for my generator and some tools, and some malicious hooligans came by during the winter and cut some of the fabric and took a couple tools, but nothing major thankfully. Gorilla tape to the temporary rescue! The property will eventually be my retirement farm, so this idea works for the long term plan. I will have to keep an eye out for materials that keep the cost down and be creative with finding them. You did an awesome job and I'm impressed enough that I just subscribed! Many blessings, Texas Deb 😁

      Thank you for the sub! 👍 Hopefully the prices of lumber will drop soon, have so many projects on hold because I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices right now. As for the "Hooligans" nothing pisses me off more then someone coming onto my property uninvited and then helping themselves to my stuff. Hopefully you had some trail cameras setup off in the distance to try and capture who they were? Thanks for watching and commenting!!

    Great solution to a problem many of us run into 2-3 yrs down the road. The current cost for the best replacement cover here in Canada is $1,352 or $1,055 USD based on Apr 26 2022 exchange. I think I originally paid $299 Canadian on sale at TSC Stores for the original unit in 2018! This year in particular the costs for anything is crazy, so your video was a timely find! You did a great job, man. I do projects without a helper, and it's difficult, especially since I'm 69 years old and underweight. I just built a garden fence 16x27 out of trees that I cut down on my property. Likewise, I have a shelter logic tent shed, and the tarp started rotting within 3 months, in the Fl sun. So I want to do what you did, but not sure if I can do it alone.

    I would like to see how you hung the shovels, rakes, etc. on the back wall.👍 By the way, I called shelterlogic when mine tore and they would not warranty the cover, they stated the warranty does not cover wind and weather.

      @thehandyoutdoorsman9014  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This should work out great as a cabin. One thing to consider: If building on a slab you will need some kind of over hang on the sides. Other wise when the water runs off the sides it will wick underneath the bottom plate and work its way inside. That would be the only thing I would change. Good luck!!

    Great Job! Been considering some similar ideas for my Harbor Freight Portable Garage. We do not have to deal with much snow here in Upstate South Carolina. I also got 3 years out of my cover before UV damage started causing holes. Recovered it using a large tarp because this brand does not offer replacement covers. It's about time to do it again! A hard shell looks like the answer.

    Nice job. How did it handle the snow? What's your biggest load to date? Are your collar ties low enough to resist bending between the tie and length of rafter to the wall plate? The rule is a minimun 1/3 the distance. I just did something similar for a friends 12x20. His old one was crushed by ice. He bought a new one and I added solid end walls, one with door and windows, and a metal roof. The metal strapping solves a lot of problems with this job. He used the new cover and I sandwiched it between the metal and the interior framing. The sides are the cover. In fact I believe my interior framing takes all the weight. Th metal frame essentially floats inside the framing and metal. A free box of viinyl siding did the ends and a couple (9"high) fit on ground up to the bottom stringers, that are adjusted downwards to hold the top of vinyl under the flap bottom. Keeps out the squirrels and raccoons. I'm in Ontario and we get a lot of freeze/ thaw ice build-up. My wood frame is really heavy duty, and framed old-barn style, quite different from yours. Two posts, 2 feet in from bottom and the end walls support two beams from front to back, that take the weight off the center to the outer edge (because there is no wall framing). The result is a workshop with workbench that fits between side wall and posts. Very neat and tidy. Only need storage for lawnmowers and snowblowers. No vehicles. This winter will be the first test. If I had to do another, I'd use some of your good ideas. Thanks. sgn: Bruce

      So far this has done great. At one point we had 18 Inches fall in one weekend and no issues. Once the sun come out it melts right off the top. Only issue I am having is, when the snow does come off the top it sits next to the side walls and melts underneath the sill plates. I need to add a lean-to to each side to prevent this from happening. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@thehandyoutdoorsman9014 Thanks for the reply. Good to hear it held up. I had to same problem with moisture coming in. I used patio stones to make a 22x14 pad. On retrospect I would have tilted the perimeter slabs 5 degrees down. I had some success with caulking the bottom with roof patch. It dams enough water so that most of it flows to the cracks between slabs, but there is still some minor capillary seepage through the patio stone itself. I was a contractor and have seen that it's possible to bond a 1 or 2 inch layer of concrete to your old floor inside. Ideally I'd jack up the building and pour a floor to the outer edge of the bottom plates, and sloped out from the door. Perhaps the simplest thing is grind in some water break/ runoff channels in the slab.

      Greetings! Yes, it does get warm on the inside, however it does take you out of the sun and into some shade. As for the snow load, it handled it better then expected, no problems. I do have one issue though, condensation. Over the winter I had issues with the air being cold inside, but the roof being warm from the sun, causing condensation on the inside of the roof. A little foam insulation and that should fix that. Good luck on yours!

    OK, I have what may be a stupid question . . . Your shed is nice. Why bother buying the Shelter Logic shed? You can do what you did without ever byuying the shed !

      Keep in mind that I already had the Shelter Logic, the poles were fine, the canvas ripped. I just added onto the poles because they were already bolted to the cement slab. If starting from scratch then I would have done just a wood frame. Hope this makes sense?

      You have to tighten it up every year other wise the loose canvas is just catching every breeze.

    This is a joke , wish i had read the reviews and watched videos before this before i bought a tent from them , guess it will only last 2 seasons , pretty annoying.

      Ok, I had to read this twice. Your referring to the tent, not my video 😉
