@@bv5278 nefarious scares me
A Man for All Seasons
Calvary channels Graham Greene's _The Power and the Glory_ to quite good effect. When Ireland is asking whether we even need the church anymore after the abuse scandal the movie shows, through everyone's brokenness, that they are still in need of a Savior more now than ever.
5.The Bells of St. Mary, 4. 10 Commandments, 3. Ben-Hur, 2. Jesus of Nazareth, and 1.Passion of the Christ. I liked the show. It is first time watching.
I would like to add my favourite Catholic movies. A Hidden Life by Terrence Malick. Into Great Silence. And the last is Au revoir les enfants.
'Alive' is a movie about the true story of the infamous plane crash of an Argentinian rugby team in the Andes Mountains in the 1970s. The survivors go into starving and [SPOILER ALERT] out of shear desperation resort to eating the dead bodies of the deceased. But the movie does a great job of showing the value of human life and our total and complete reliance on God for everything we have. Catholicism plays a prominent role and some of the characters go through a spiritual transformation where their faith in God is renewed and deepened.
Love these two priests! This is one of my favorite segments!! Great senses of humor!
I did see several of the movies mentioned, but I must say, my very very favorite is The Song of Bernadette, with Jennifer Jones! Giving away my age!
I was not expecting Fr. Michael to name Calvary after all the other Catholic-themed movies he listed, but that is also in my Top 5.
I'm a fan of The Scarlet & The Black that was listed, but would love to revisit Rome: Open City since both movies have similar story elements.
I literally only clicked on this link to comment about "The Mission" in case you guys didn't mention it. Amazing film.
What about _A Hidden Life_ ?
My top 5 (in no order): Brother Sun Sister Moon (St Francis of Assisi), Joan of Arc, Fatima movie (the one Lucia was involved with), the movie about Joseph, and of course Moses with Charlton Heston. Of course, the movies of Jesus Christ are 1a. The Way with Martin Sheen is a real sleeper that most haven't seen.
Passion of the Christ, is my favorite. Looking forward to the Resurrection.
What about âGoing my wayâ and âThe bells of St. MaryâToo old ?ð
Silence is excellent
Lol, I also thought father meant the Russian movie âIslandâ (âOstrovâ). Not that artsy after allð
How about Guillermo del Toro's, Pan's Labyrinth, and the French film, Of Gods and Men?
I don't think Pan's Labyrinth is catholic
My number 1 is The Passion
Passion of the Christ is the best movie of all time. Period
Priest should not lie about the church's part in WW 2 and how the church treated the Indians under the Jesuits. Yes, the Passion of CHRIST The best. MARANATHA
