Great looking boots! I am curious about the construction with commando soles on welted shoes. I see that they are not stitched to the welt, but appear to be glued to a midsole. Is this a robust method? (Compared to dainite or city soles which are typically stitched as well)
Hey Scott, yes the Commando is always cemented to a midsole. It is actually better in terms resoling as you have the durability of the welt but cementing a new sole is much easier and quicker to fix without degrading the integrity of the welt as you wont have to restitch it. You just cement a new sole on.
great boots, I been thinking about getting a pair in a patina version, how does the 174 last compare to the 199, their website describe them both being the thin last, I have a pair of their saddle oxford in the 199 last, I took them in my usual uk10, same as your TMG last, initially it was a bit tight, but I guess crust leather was a bit softer, after a couple of wears in the house, and it has soften up quite nicely. I notice that you took these the same size 6.5 as their derby boots, which is in the wide 7505 last, would you reckon that I should get them in the same size as their 199 last?
Thanks! If I recall correctly I took a UK7 in the 199 last. It has been many years since I tried that one. But in this, the UK6.5 fits just fine. The wider last was a bit more generous, so if anything the 174 last fits between the 199 and the 7505. I might size down for this one against the 199. At least I did.

Will you get again the 10% promo code? P.S. Love your work!
Unfortunately not for now. Maybe next year at some point. And thank you 🙌
@@theshoesnob_official ok thanks

@@theshoesnob_official Thank you Justin, I am gonna stay with my usual uk10, will definitely appreciate some extra space compare to the 199 last
@@yuri911qq perfect and my pleasure happy to help
My true to size is a 41 or a Uk7 Us 8. Which size would you recommend for the tobar?
I would stay with that size just knowing that. But might help to know which brands you wear in that size to further assist.
@@theshoesnob_official i wear a uk7 Simpson, but it was a little bit too tight.
@@clemensgabriel30 okay stay with UK7 then as the Tobar fits larger than the Simpspn so it sounds like you needed that room
@@theshoesnob_official ok thank you!! is the tobar more refined than the Simpson. I mean elongated narrow toe area and so on?
@@clemensgabriel30 very similar in terms of shape, yes.
