    Love the BBQ attachment , you can really crank the heat up with it compared to most portable BBQ, and the big cast grill is fantastic as well.

      We'll have to give the BBQ attachment a go at some point!

    I bought mine at Cabelas several years ago. I like it because it’s sturdy, haven’t seen another camp stove I can set a big Dutch oven on and cook for a whole pack of people. I bought a single burner griddle attachment and a bag. Very handy stove…

      We agree completely! Was a great deal when we bought ours at Cabelas, and still is at full price. Not many portable stoves out there that are nearly this solid.

      Mostly want to avoid frying fish, onions, and steaks inside the house. Too much smell and smoke

      It’s cooked some tasty meals with epic views for sure! Steak and potatoes on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park took the cake though!

    Is this stove stable with out the legs? If I wanted to set this on a table and cook, would that work?

    You can get a 5lb flame king propane take and it’s perfect for this.

    Just got one of these for emergency preparedness. Do you have any experience using it to cook something like a tomato sauce or just to low simmer something? I've also heard it can be used for canning.

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These things put out a lot of heat so low simmers are tough, but doable with a big enough pan to spread the heat a bit.

      @@Western-Wild Thank you for your reply and idea. I've heard another person say that he cooked spaghetti and tomato sauce with it, so it sounds like it is doable. Looks like the gas flow can be adjusted down pretty well too. We'll have to experiment and see how it goes. I'm thinking that cooking in a water bath would prevent the temperature from exceeding 212 deg F, since water boils at that point. It's a bit extra work but not too bad. We also could use pre-cooked sauces and just heat them up and go. If there's a will, there's a way. Have a good day. 😊

    Where did yu get that storage container that yu set the stove on?

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a Husky storage tote from Home Depot. We love them, very affordable and haven’t experienced any dust or water incursion.

    How low can it go? While I like the extra heat, can I Tuen in low for eggs over easy and warm tortillas?

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! A 20 gallon propane tank has a capacity of around 420,000 BTUs. At 60,000 BTUs per hour this stove could run for 7 hours (in theory). We usually fill up after 2 or 3 trips. It does simmer and cook eggs pretty well if you have the burner on the lowest setting. That usually works best with cast iron or other materials that dissipate the heat well.

    How does it work with breeze or wind? Or do you have to wait for a perfectly calm day?

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It only has issues in high winds with the heat on the lowest simmer setting. In those cases you’ll want to position the stove with some wind protection. Otherwise no problems.

    Only thing I don't like about mine is that the burners aren't centered, so if your using the actual 14 inch griddles the outside edge of the griddle is the hottest.

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true! We tend to use a small circular griddle when making pancakes... but obviously that limits how many pancakes you can cook up at a time.

    You actually can us an adapter to use those little green propane tanks. But a 20 pound cylinder is obviously much better

    • @Western-Wild
      @Western-Wild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yes it is possible! Though at 60,000 BTU per hour one of those little green bottles would be used up in a hurry. Some of the smaller refillable tank options might be a good compromise if you don’t have space for a full size tank.

  • @davidnelson5728

    The little green 1lb tanks can be refilled. I fill them off my big tank.

      Prices on these have gone up in general after our steal of a deal, but still worth it for the cooking power!
