That is indeed, a super helpful blockout tutorial! I always had the feeling of a "missing link" between what people were explaining and the end result! Thanks man!
This is tutorial is amazing!! You speak in a way I could understand and I was finally able to do this and fast!! It doesnt have extra steps or info you dont need lol... Thank you so much!!
Can you tell me how I find the setting that makes a new IMM primitive into a different polygroup color automatically? I just cannot find it anywhere I look on the internet and the way you don't explain it seems like it's so straightforward
So, the polygroup colors are automatic. If you turn "polygroup view" on, it shows each polygroup as its own color. You probably don't have "view pologroups" toggled on. (It may also be called "show" or "visualize" polygroups.)
You can absolutely delete objects. If you're doing it like the video, there is an option on the menu to "delete masked" or "delete unmasked", that'll do the trick.
found this helpful video ..check out your channel and gameplay videos are found. totally unrelative. please upload more zbrush videos.you are good at it
One thing that bugs me is some characters don't have a complete model sheet(front, side, back view) even then it's either in a pose or an angled view. How would I go about blocking out in these cases? I also have trouble marking the distances between each part, does it have to be exact or approximately there?
I can't tell you how to "check" proportions, because that's part of your character design. However, there are tools to overlay images, if you have character art you're using as a baseline.
hello any reason why switching between masked objects when holding the ctrl+click does nothing? it only masks / unmasks the same object, while the other stays uneditable. HELP!
@@CraigPerko i think it is the same, but then i am a total beginner and only opening zbrush for the third time. it only just worked when i copied the initial sphere - but not when i make new spheres from scratch. thanks though!, very helpful tutorial!
Well, basically you just turn it back on and, any time you want to trigger it, control-draw a little box in the background. You should be able to find tuts specifically about that if you search.
JEZ interface and all usibility ideas in this program are invented by some hardheaded folks i tought blender is kinda not friendly compared to other software but this ? its kinda strange for such industry aclaimed program
Thanks you for the reply, i did that but my mesh still using the matcap gray, and when i input brush a circle, that circle will be a different color. Sorry for my English.
@@BarPBarPkoyanee A paint brush will change the object's actual color. Change your brush to "paint" to paint colors. The polygroup coloration is something for organizing parts, not for final painting.
bro, thank you. a real relief.. its always great when there are people kind and patient like yourself to help the new and overwhelmed!
That was a really great tutorial.
Simple - no nonsense - straight to the point

This is by far the best zbrush tutorial i have ever seen, dude you Rock!!!! i realy wish you could do more tuts on Zbrush, PLEASEEEEE!!!!
I'm not a ZBrush pro, unfortunately.
You really hit all the spots others do not talk about.. Thank you!
Still to this day a great tutorial. Thanks!
The Move Topological brush also helps in moving separate polygroups or areas where there are gaps in topology like lips without having to mask.
Amazing. This is a great way to start any project with the right foot. Thank you so much.
thank you so much for detailed explanation, this is the best blockout video I've seen.
Thank so much for this. It was very easy and simple to follow
Excellent. Glad I found this video. You are right that most of the other Blocking Out video were confusing. But your presentation was super! Thanks.
Glad it helped!

Excellent tutorial mate
Thanks so much for this video! Super helpful!
Thanks Dude, this great play by play information
As a beginner, this is very helpful. Couldn’t figure out how you started with imm sphere though.
Oh, I just opened it as a project. "Comma" will open and close the file menu like that.
@@CraigPerko thanks for getting back. I finally figured it out. Again, thanks for video. Very clear and to the point

This was good. Really helped me get more control of isolating objects. Is it possible to delete objects or do you have to undo?

@@CraigPerko Here's a silly question: which menu are we talking about?
@@thePadlockesTech Hm. There's "del hidden" under "geometry->modify topology". I remember other options, but I can't remember where they were.
@@CraigPerko I found them. I just dug around and did some research

I think you'll just have to approximate.
how you check the proportions how you know that the proportions are right and accurate can you explain ?
I can't tell you how to "check" proportions, because that's part of your character design. However, there are tools to overlay images, if you have character art you're using as a baseline.
Thanks so much for the last bit ahha
ty so much! omg
WOW!
I am very beginner. Is there any documentation for beginners.
There are a lot of ZBrush beginner tutorials, but as usual for industry standard tools, the documentation itself is crappy.
hello any reason why switching between masked objects when holding the ctrl+click does nothing? it only masks / unmasks the same object, while the other stays uneditable. HELP!
To invert the mask, you need to control-click the background, where there's no objects.
@@CraigPerko still no luck, it only deselects the same object and i can't
do anything to the other one, as if it is locked
@@svetlinx Are they different subtools? It all has to be one subtool.

Why not use zspheres ?
hey i just want to ask, do someone know how to delete a sphere ? i am a beginer in zbrush :/
Thanks!
joust you know you can do auoto groups and then mirion and weld this fix the polygroups to be miror in 10:09
hey can you tell me how should i go for dynamesh after blocking?
