Two good tips for short sword units. 1: Hide their location so that their appearance can surprise the enemy, preferably flanking them with a charge. 2: Do not initiate in fights that last a long time, in the case where it does, make sure to use a trebuchet or run from potential trebuches after engaging for 5s asap, leaving allies if need be.

A tip for heavy shield users such as myself: Press 5 to use the “Stow Shields” command. This makes your unit faster. I myself love the imp spear guard, my favorite unit by far. Another tip is: Use the imp spear guard with the “cover commander” command. It’s a great way to push back the enemy in a choke point and just in general. As example, I held my own with imp spear guards in a siege tower and pushed back several units and heroes by myself without reinforcements. Another tip is to use the Long Sword and Shield with the spear guard since you then have two heals.
Fortebraccio pikes have been nerfed (along with other spear units), only their tips do damage now so you have to position them a bit further back if you are protecting gateways
My tip: if there is the cap circle and ur attackerand you have a shield wall,try to push other units or heroes out of the circle or advance.If u just stay in the circle people can intrrupt the capture(alsso usefull in rebel camps)
Great stuff chaos!!!!!!! What about pike line formation vs cavalry charges that also use a line formation?? I.e matching formations? What about imperial pike guards? Their brace doesn't stop a charge but their advance does, do you advance in line or use advance in a shieltron against cavalry?

From what experience I have seen line V line cavalry has the advantage. That is as long as it is equal or higher tier cavalry. That is why changing formation to up engagement helps. That or team up with some other people

For fortes that you put at the gate, I will put them facing to the gate next to the door, so all the pikes will be doing dmg to all units trying to enter, or walking close to entrance. Else like u did it here, only the units who are closer to the wall will do dmg. Fortes are unlike halberdiers that they will not turn around, so the angle also matters for them. Well, the imperial pikes have no choise, so they are not in this discussion lol

if they are hussars at lvl 25, nothing. They will erase your pike guards. Any other cavalry will be countered and maybe killed totaly depending on the damage. I strongly recommend you to level imp pike with the top line since they cant be stunned while advancing, makinh it a incredible counter to cavalry charges
@@visionairy-tengu3322 yes, but for example, if monastic knights charge and you advance, you pretty much stop them and kill them. I dont know about kheshigs, hussars. (i dont mention fire lance since they shoot from a distance)
also another good way to stop a charge or suffer less deaths, is to put your units near a wall, cavalry charges get bugged when they encounter something they cant kill (a wall, a pallet in the middle of the field, etc)
so i'm a new player. i usd the block formation with halbardiers against cavalry, like you noted in the video. they charged anyway and i got trampled over. might have killed 1 unit if lucky? i don't understand

Your halbardiers need stun to really stop cavalry. Their block formation is also extremely loose compared to fortebrachios and other spear/pike based units, so they can't deal with them that well. They deal high damage, but positioning and certain passives are key when dealing with cavalry.
I get insane kills with Namkhans in attacking walls and capturing.. team sometime scream why.. but i know spots and you can destroy A or B .. just wait for sieges connect defending archers mostly shoot charging units and rain fow bow at A or B go fight treb it.. mostly you lose max 5 archers and you can do score like 60 unit kills also 4 hero kills its pretty common. becouse when you treb hero mass fighting and they already bleed its hard for them run away and heal.. they dropping around and lose. . i like breacing tip i didnt know i can stop cavs in tighter formation.. i keep it wide becouse i know gunner or archer will bomb it. Hate this grenading units.. its not real at all. .

Use advance in schiltron if possible. Matching cav gets advantage

That is a friend's units. I believe it is an old crusader attire from alpha.

As others have mentioned it is a good tactic. It will stop most cav charges with a couple exceptions. That is something I want to test more.
