This film is definitely a melody of different themes... the farm, the factory, and engineering. The new 1939 models are being introduced in this film. Ford introduced hydraulic brakes, and had a mid-priced car (1939 Mercury). Yet Henry was too stubborn to allow an Inline Six in the Ford (1941) or independent front suspension (for the 1949 Ford, after he died). The year 1938 was a bad recession year... so all car sales dropped significantly and employment declined. But the economy in 1939 would be much better as war production increased employment. By 1939, the glorious Lincoln Model K was near the end of its production. The Model K was a 12-cylinder luxury masterpiece... but sales were low and the cheaper Lincoln Zephyr was much more popular. General Motors had surpassed Ford Motor Company in sales for a few years by 1939... and Chrysler Corporation was still rapidly gaining market share. Ford Motor Company was in severe decline by the late 1930s, but it was still the second biggest American car company. Henry still refused to follow general accounting principles and had terrible labor relations with his workers. But grandson Henry Ford II would take over by 1943-1945... with Ford Motor Company finally rescued by the 1949 Ford. The Ford Rotunda shown in Dearborn was transplanted from the 1933/1934 Chicago World's Fair. It became a very popular free exhibit later but tragically burned to the ground in 1962 and was never rebuilt.

"...to make Men more free..." @ 12:42.
You don't hear that very often these days.
Less regulations would be welcome. I actually have quite an opinion on Federal regs concerning transportation. Just don't get me started!😊

Enough rules, regs and law to be civilized and curtail the criminal element. I will refrain from politics. Model A cars make people happy! Politics do not...
      Later, Ken!
