From experience some do and some don't. Worst case scenario they are just the same as the original designed capacity. Just don't buy 'cheap' ones. I always use trusted suppliers for customers as it's not worth the risk.
Yeah that works too. Ultimately it doesn't matter if they rip anyway, they can still be removed just takes slightly longer. Most phones don't have pull tabs at all.
Technically you can do it without removing the screen but because a level of force needs to be applied to remove the battery, it's best to detach the screen so that it isn't a hindrance and you don't cause any damage to the flex cables.

I’ve seen other folks using isopropyl alcohol in a syringe, to remove those battery adhesive pull tabs.
