What did you think of Ever After High? The doll community can be pretty divisive - Ever After High vs. Descendants, Monster High vs. Bratz, LOL surprise against...the world - but today we take a look at the undeniably incredible franchise Mattel created with Ever After - from dedicated storytelling to detailed dolls, Ever After High didn't get credit for the mark they made on fashion dolls. Do you see them coming back in the future?
I think Ever After High should have kept prices lower, over the years they got higher
I never even noticed Descendants was (basically) a copy I loved both of the brands
I love Ever After High, the series and the dolls were amazing. I didn't know that they had a reboot, maybe it wasn't sold in Malaysia (where I'm from). In my opinion, EAH are probably not make a come back. The frachise ended 4 years ago. But maybe they will, fashion dolls have taken the toy industry by storm so there is a chance for EAH to make come back.
I started new friendships because of this doll line and It breaks my heart that Mattel gave up on it
The Three Little Pigs were changed to the Goats due to some religions/cultures viewing pigs as dirty and unclean. Mattel probably did this to better appeal to a wider audience without offending anyone. It was so long ago I'm afraid I can't remember who it was that explained the reason for the change. Though at the time I was more active on Tumblr, and the info is probably there somewhere. I personally love EAH and wish it would make a comeback. Unfortunately Mattel is notorious for not listening to fans.

I actually didn’t like the direction they were going with the “princesses are powerful” route. They suddenly changed story themes and we didn’t get a satisfactory conclusion to the royal vs. rebel debate. I wish they developed the original storyline more because that was honestly an interesting and unique concept for children’s media.
Imo, I think the new slogan was made on purpose to give a warning sign that the show will end abruptly and they didn't want to dissapoint fans too much by not making continuations or new things that'll extend what it left on. So they kinda change the old "The end is just the beginning" to purposefully discontinue the story. My theory is rather weak and not worded well, I gotta admit, but still....it's still a theory.
@@nindyfarrel1322 don't worry, i got what you're saying. Yea, I wish instead of competing with Disney on the same playing field, they stuck with the original story since that would have made them unique vs. what Disney was doing. But I'm no marketing professional so what do I know LOL.

Honestly, Des did have similar settings to EAH, but the latter has a storyline of two opposing camps (Royals & Rebels) who tries to live their high-school life and give of the lesson of "you can pave your own path and be the hero of your own story" while the former has more of a a group of students who wanna prove themselves better than their origins states (being descendants of infamous villains) story and "there's always a chance for you to be the good guy and influence others from it" moral.
I'm no marketing exce either, but they could've had ended the series in a satisfying way rather than changing their image for a short term. Though, even if Mattel still wanted to continue EAH, Disney has it's ways. Either way, I'm glad we could still reminisence EAH through official YT vids or Netflix (despite the reuploads on the YT channel, fans could still watch old episodes and even movies (or their clips) if they don't have Netflix), toy sets, books, and even the fandom.
The transition was too rushed and quick like both messages were great

That’s because it’s a DCOM. Read the books it was based on and you’ll see that it’s not lazy but rather made watchable by younger viewers.

Honestly, as a person who grew up with ever after high, watched the show, and collected the dolls, I think that EAH was so well thought out and that Mattel screwed it over. It’s so sad to see my childhood slowly get wiped from existence.

As an adult when the doll line came out, I really thought these dolls were fantastic. The novels were beautifully written by Shannon Hale and Suzanne Selfors and the complexity of the story around these dolls was really lovely. Instead of being quite so "good guys" vs. "bad guys," it felt like it was more about making ethical choices and exploring the importance of when to prioritize their own needs and when what they wanted impacted their communities in unexpected ways. Such a shame that they ended the line. They really were beautiful dolls.
I remember being so surprised at the quality of the books! They read like genuine children’s books, rather than something to sell dolls. You can tell the author really did enjoy writing them.
Yep! And the webisodes were just as, if not, even more amazing than the books. First off, you can tell that there was SO much effort into the animation. Like, it looks like a Miyazaki movie! Second, the characters are so likable and amazing! They have so much depth, care, and character development put into each one of them, and each one has a special trait that we all can relate to, so that we don’t have to feel like we’re all alone! Every character (including Apple) has such a likability, that they feel like real people! I love them all so much! Finally, the writing and lore is spectacular! Everything that comes out of the characters mouth are so believable, and the rich lore and story is so fascinating, it makes me beg for more! It’s sad that it had to end the way it did, but I hope that someday it comes back. Sry you had to hear me ramble, but it’s just that this is something I am so passionate about, and I want to share it with everyone! Bye 😁✌️💖

The animated series was actually so cute and well done, the characters had great designs and Disney straight up stole it. Ever After High should come back.

I do like that within Ever After High, they don't make either side completely good or completely evil. We understand their motivations and why they would either want to follow their parents' destinies or not.
It just breaks my heart whenever I think about the downfall of Ever After High. When I look back at the lines we got, we really didn't have too long before the quality was lowered. And now some of the dolls are getting pricey to collect for. It honestly hurt me more to lose EAH than MH because I was so invested in the show as well as the dolls.

Descendants was just Ever After High with less flavor. Mal and Bens relationship was so petty and it was sad to watch. I admit I did see all the movies and some of the songs are good, but compared to EAH they shouldn’t of been competition. It all came down to the brand. I was in love with EAH when I was 9, and I’m now 16. I hope the series comes back very soon even if I’m like 20 by the time it does. I’m guessing once the Descendants hype fully dies down EAH will make a comeback HOPEFULLY with the same quality we all know and love, and even better storylines and characters.

If it would EVER come back, I'd be down to try voice acting for a character, even though I'd probably never get that chance/I'd probably be way too young. I'm 13 now and ever since seeing EAH on Netflix I fell head-over-heels for the franchise. If it ever does make a comeback, I'm hoping it's something I can get my hands on

Personally, I actually like Ever After High a little more than Monster High because of the gorgeous animation and the story has more in-depth. This series has so much untapped potentials. We could have had an epic crossover with Monster High, but all we got was a book and some storyboarding. We could have had a Neverland theme story arc as amazing as the Wonderland one. I would have love to see how Astra Nova moved from EAH to Monster High. What about the idea of Whisp moving from Monster High to EAH to learn how to become the next genie? Or the idea of international students, like the daughter of Mulan or something? So much potentials, and yet Mattel destroyed it because of their greed and for trying to take shortcuts by cheapening the qualities. *sigh*

That scene where Darling saves Apple from her curse made me theorize that the fairytale roles were interchangeable. Say if Darling becomes the next Prince from Snow White's tale, then Daring might just turn out to be the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (which is supported by the Epic Winter episode!). I remember being so eager to find out before the show got cancelled

Her first appearance in spring unsprung made me fall in love with her character. She’s so outgoing, brave, and - well, charming, she definitely lives up to her name and her family’s history
Pretty sure, this was to support LGBTQ+, but it was put as CPR to downplay it for conservative parents, since at the time this was still a highly controversial topic (less so, now). I remember when my parents saw it (both were conservative and religious at the time and now only one is), they were appalled and my sister and I had to explain it with it just being CPR, which worked, but for us two, who watched it all, we knew the truth and were happy that a toy company like Mattel was showing at least a spark of change for a movement, even if it was downplayed for parents to keep spending money on their children.
Wait a minute.
So, here's my thought, if Darling did become the next Prince(ss) Charming from Snow White, and Daring the Beast, then that means Dexter might becomes the next "damsel in distress" kinda? I always put it in my head is that Dex is kinda the brains of the trio (Daring is obvi the muscle and Darling is the heart), so he might figure this out one way or another. So i always theorize two possible outcomes if he does piece it together, accepts that fate if it does happen (he is a royal after all and the type of student who'd rather die than disobey the rules for his own need) or secretly try to pave his own way without serving as a rebel (he always seems pretty open-minded and respectful with the rebels and their mindset of breaking from destiny, so he might "give it a go" either Briar or Hunter style).
But my theory is either here nor there, I really am curious with what the series might come up with the Charming siblings if the show decided to pick up again (with diversity and inclusion on the rise, they might sprinkle some "representation" in EAH if they did pick up), or we'll only rely on old episodes and the fandom for our satisfaction.

I never watched EAH but have grown up with descendants. I can agree it's better since descendents is too... Fast paced , too forced and too hypocritical with its messages
I really miss eah, they where really beautiful and high quality. I haven't seen any other commercial doll for kids with this beautiful and fancy aesthetic. Eah wasn't exagerating pink, sparkle and cute things how they make in other dolls for girls but also they still continue very feminine and with realistic royal and magical elements (not like Disney Princesses...). I am so sad that it only lasted four years and that they have then forgotten (at least MH has more hope). Damn...I wish they will come back, I only have five and one is reboot 🥺
I don't know what country are you in, but maybe try buying eah dolls second hand? I'm in Poland and eah was quite big here, so I'm still able to buy second hand dolls kinda cheap. Try looking on facebook groups, good luck!

I always did find one plot hole in the ever after high series: If Raven and Apple are to fulfill their parent’s destiny, why isn’t Raven older? She’s supposed to be Apples stepmom, even in the original Grimm tale. So, did Mattel just forget this or did I miss some twisted thing where Snow whites stepmom isn’t much older than her in the OG story.
It mostly depends when they had the kids, Maybe Snow white wanted children earlier while The evil queen wanted them later
If I’m correct, Evil Queen wasn’t Snow White’s stepmom in the series, they even went to high school together
I know this comment is old but I want to give my opinion on it. So, it could've started out that way with the Evil Queen being the step mom but the entire premise is that the students sign the story book of legends and follow their destiny.
It's hinted that the Evil Queen did that too so, she, the Evil Queen actually isn't the *first* Evil Queen, as generations passed... the family aspect in the fairy tales become more blurry because well, it's kind of hard to stick with the strict family roles when some people in the same fairy tale are related... and aren't supposed to be, like Cerise and Ramona or are the same age because lack of planning
(I mean someone Apple's dad marrying Raven would be straight up weird unless she already graduated but then there's no Raven unless they wanted to work with the world she left behind).
Which basically means with some fairy tales, who was married to who and who were supposed to be family were slowly changing because it just got too weird
It's written in the books.
Apparently a little form of change is allowed to the stories, for example, in Hansel and Gretel, if the Candy Witch died she wouldn't be able to have a daughter. And if the Evil Queen was Snow White's mother, the family relation would be messed up. So to keep the stories as true to the original as possible, it is explained that some background changes are made in the legends.
To which Raven responds that is is 'unfair' that some get a little leeway, while others have to strictly stick to their destiny.
In other words, slight alterations are allowed, but naturally nothing as big as the villain becoming the hero or etc. Nothing that big. But just small, background details can be shifted. Breadhouse's mom escaped from her oven with a oven backdoor.
Ever after high was a gem like absolutely perfect
I feel bad for Mattel they tried so hard to keep up with demands and stay within their budget, EAH was honestly the best web series I liked watching, for goodness sake THEY HAVE CUTE BABY DRAGONS WHILE DEPENDENTS JUST HAVE A TALKING DOG!
i mean, if they listened to garrett sander (the creator of mh) and didn’t do the reboot then they would definitely have more than enough money to create more dolls and there wouldn’t be budget dolls

@@desmondsamuels6129 umm no, they used fairytale characters. And the design and concepts for the fairytale characters were completely different. They used originality, while disney did not because descendants was an obvious rip-off of EAH.
For me, the quote "The end is just the beginning" really helps me have hope that maybe EAH may come back. After all the monster high is coming back. I also think if Mattel wants Monster high sales to do well they gotta stop with the cheap material and go back to the first version of dolls and then slowly bring up ever after high into the market again and make a crossover movie. I don't know why but I feel continuing the with the crossover story may revive both fandoms again.
@@kaffialridho927 Yass I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Its a good strategy for Mattel to use. When MH is released again we'll see where Mattel will go with the brands. I really hope they do well and bring hype to both fandoms.

I think it would be awesome if the reboot was based on the next generation of students and was all about the children of the characters we know and love. A fresh start and new story. How to live up to the greatness of those who came before and forced change or did the changes cause any chaos?
YES! They could make billions of dollars if they just GO! BACK TO THE FRANCHISES OG ROOTS! Idk y their being so stubborn about it. The crossover between the OG! Monster High animation and the OG Ever After High (before the reboot) would give them billions of dollars not from just the present fans but the old ones too, they gotta give the people what they want (the OG! MH & OG! EAH back!) and maybe they won’t go broke

My young and unknowingly gay self loved it when darling and apple "kissed" because before that, her brothers who were supposed to use fate and true love to kiss her could not wake her up. I don’t understand how descendants bet ever after high. The descendants dolls and movies are straight trash. Though Mattel went down hill when they cheapened their dolls! I’m so happy that I have kept my EAH dolls! I still have throne coming Apple in her box! I wish I had kept them all in a box! There so detailed and pretty!

It's because Disney is more popular in terms of brand and of course descendants would become a big hit on Disney's behalf Mattel couldn't compete with Disney because compared to them they were a smaller company not to mention it it's freaking Disney it can sell out anything even if it's trash.

Honestly, Descendants is a rip off (but I would not say it that insensitively, it's just what a lot of my family members think because they watch the show) of Ever After High. I mean there is actually an overall plot in EAH. Talk about a downgrade. Just my opinion... I'm sorry. But I do like the character development in Descendants.

I wouldn't really call Descendants a straight up rip-off, but I do agree with the fact that the plot wasn't really as good as EAH.
Actually it’s the other way around. Ever After High is a rip off of Descendants because Disney started thinking about a story about the offspring of villains and royalties first before ever after high was even a thing.
First child born from Fairytale parents was Melody, Ariel's daughter, who is 15 yesrs older than when EAH started.
So if Decendants was bad guys turning good or not doesn't matter, Disney did start off the Fairytale characters having kids.

this video honestly made me tear up a bit. i loved ever after high so much when i was younger, and now i'm so sad it's gone. i was obsessed with everything - the dolls, the books, the webisodes, the movies, the music, the games on the website. with the series being discontinued and the website being taken down, it's almost like a part of my childhood is missing. eah was amazing - the character design was awesome, the dolls were very detailed and high quality (or at least they were in the beginning...), and the story was a unique spin on good vs. evil. it's really such a shame it was canceled with no closure.

God this was my favorite doll line of all time. I still have every Ashlynn Ella doll (my personal favorite) and a few of Cupid, Apple, and Holly. I even made my own Ashlynn cosplay years ago, such was my affection for their gorgeous designs. I'm still bitter Mattel pulled the plug and even more frustrated they released the scaled down budget dolls before killing it off. There were so many gorgeous designs from EAH that never received a release. The year I wore my Ashlynn cosplay to WonderCon, I actually was approached by a pair cosplaying Helga & Gus Crumb and as far as I remember, they were webisode only characters. I would have loved to see those two dolls. Descendants can't hold a candle to the beautiful designs from EAH.
The really sad thing is that they keep reposting on there TH-cam channel an THEY KNOW it’s the SAME EXACT CONTENT! 😤😤😢

Cliff hangers are the WORST! I only read the first book that was released, but I've heard they were superb! I agree with you, it's disappointing the future of Raven was left unclear 😭I imagine Mattel would say something like "We want fans to imagine for themselves what happened!" but like...nah I just want them to finish the story lol

Ever After High was one of the best lines Mattel ever made. I miss it a lot because it was amazing.
If you’re looking for somewhat of a conclusion for eah I recently listened to the audiobook of shadow high (the book of the monster/ever after cross over) and even though it’s the reboot mh it’s so captivating and so well written! The world building explaining the different universes is so intriguing and I wish we got more of it. But most of all it does hint what raven will probably do since she isn’t following her destiny.
The way you just sold me on listening to this audio book!! Thank you for the insight into this, I had no idea this book had so much value to it tbh. I look forward to reading/listening 😍

It’s also because the authors are amazing. Shannon Hale wrote the trilogy and got me addicted to her writing, so then I went and read every novel she’s written. A solid recommendation from me.

I can't BELIEVE you didn't mention the books, they were how I found the series as a kid and I believed til recently they were the first products in the franchise. I doubt I'd even like the series without them. Not just because I found them first, but I think they are an INSANELY better than any other products for every after high. They explain the characters, world, and story in so much more detail than anything else. It's so much more interesting and has so much more depth. I do like the animations and dolls, but, at least to me, are incomparable to the books (including the spin offs after the main 3). If you like EAH, PLEASE read them, it's so worth it.

I have versions of most of the characters, but the quality differed depending on what line/wave they were from.
The clothes always used to be so detailed and pretty - Skirts had layers, and jackets, particularly Hunter Huntsman's in my memory had tassles, and different materials were used.

Descendants had a very lazy story. All three of them.. It was around that time that Disney thought they could shove Dove Cameron into any movie and make it a masterpiece. Ever After High had prettier dolls and better fashion on said dolls.

If by some miracle Ever After High ever gets a revival (from the original continuity, not a reboot like what Monster High suffered from before) I HOPE TO GOD, they NEVER follow up on that AWFUL CPR scene between Darling and Apple. Never have I hated any scene in fiction more than that one. Even the cringest scenes in the Star Wars sequels don't piss me off anywhere near as much as that one did/does.
I don't think that this scene should be and will be followed up for he following reasons:
1. Contrary to what the simple minded, morally corrupt, degenerate, heterophobic dimwits on the internet (especially tumblr and twitter) claim to think and tell you; most people reject homosexuality because it is sinful, immoral, illogical, unnatural, disgusting, and unhealthy. Even ex-homos will tell you that is a terrible lifestyle that no one should follow. If Mattel is smart, they won't go woke so they won't go broke on this line.
2. Mattel will never follow up on it anyway, because they have a tendency to create interesting plot lines that are never followed up on in the next installment. You find a potential lesbian princess story line interesting? Too bad, because Mattel will immediately ignore it anyway. Monster High suffers from the same problem too.
3. CPR DOES NOT EQUAL TRUE LOVE. EVER! CPR is a medical move that people of both genders can perform in order to get the poor victim to start breathing again. It doesn't instantly make you fall in love with that person. Remember what they said in The Emperor's New Groove? "For the last time, it was not a kiss!" 4. Darling is a rebel, trying to rebel against her destiny. If Apple really is her destiny, she'll still rebel against it and find true love with somebody else. They already set up a potential boyfriend for her in that Chase Redford character, in Way Too Wonderland, so seeing those two together would be great. It could happen.
5. Apple is a conservative royal, and would find an actual male prince to love and continue the Snow White legacy. Daring already has tons of Prince Charming cousins to fill in that role, so it could be any one of them. It could happen.
6. For a franchise that is about rejecting stereotypes, they would be doing a huge disservice to this franchise by basically embracing stereotypes like "Girls who like masculine things are lesbians" , "people of the same gender can't be friends without being lovers", etc. Not a smart move.
7. Even in that scene and the entire special, there is no romantic tension between those two characters at all, and even after the CPR deed is done, it's never brought up again anyway. If it was between Raven and Apple, maybe it would have had some meaning, but this did not happen.
8. The Dragon Games junior novel gave us an interesting alternate take on this scene; Darling just compresses Apple's chest to make her breathe again, this is successful and never uses mouth to mouth. Why couldn't they have used this scene, instead of the one onscreen" A girl compressing another girl's chest in to make her breathe again you can't show, but mouth to mouth is OK? People and their messed up priorities...
9. The scene was meant to be a play on the original version of Snow White where the Prince's servants managed to awaken Snow White by accidentally dislodging the cursed apple from her throat, not the Prince with the magic kiss.
10. This franchise already went broke before it went woke, so we'll never know anyway.

First of all, obviously CPR isn't related to love or a romantic act in the slightest, BUT 1) it was done in replacement of the magic kiss and 2) this isn't exactly normal CPR, did you see the magic light and all yeah kinda a special case here
And yes compressing her chest would have been different but they went for the mouth to mouth which yes does resemble the classic fairytale kiss a lot more (which is a staple in modern day views of fairytale regardless of the original story, tales evolve with time)
And I didn't say nor think I want these two to end up together, just think about what this would mean for Apple as a character. Yes, she is a conservative princess, she had her life all laid out for her but obstacle after obstacle makes it so hard to reach her happy end. First she loses her villain, then her prince, and it then turns out her prince is actually a girl? That is pretty much a nightmare but a super royal like Apple, who once again would have to face the realization that her happy end as she had always dreamed of is simply impossible, and I would love to see how she handles that dilemma
Not only with herself but also with friends, we already saw it's kinda awkward with Daring but she also definitely would have to adress the situation with Darling who I imagine she's known for quite some time as well
Also the point about strong/ masculine characters having to be lesbians? Only YOU said that?! Darling is an amazing character who is equally girly, soft and elegant AND a badass strong dragon fighting lady, all this tells us absolutely nothing about her sexual/romantic orientation because guess what people aren't stereotypes, who you like or are attracted to has nothing to do with who you are as just you, a person
And saying a non-straight couple would ruin the show? That is just wrong on so many levels

Merida from Brave was actually accused of that before her movie even came out. An alternative is a custom doll maker may want them, etc. The thing about spare mh and eah was they had removal Arms, legs, heads, etc and if you gave a broken doll and can get hold of another version of it, you can steal the arm from it, leg, etc.

I have them mint in boxes. I have a bunch mint in boxes. Not bought to keep that way. I just bought dozens of different ones to dole out to my daugher at random intervals, and then she got so offended when they changed the faces, bodies, and clothes that she very suddenly turned on the franchise, and I was left with several MIB dolls. The resale value doesn't matter, and shouldn't matter to you. Your love for them is what matters. That's the value I see in the ones I have.
My daughter is just now entering her doll-phase, & I was so excited to start her “big girl collection” with iconic MH & EAH dolls. Such a bummer that those lines are discontinued! Those lines were inspired by classic characters we all grew up on & loved! I hope they come out with something fantastical and of equally high quality & concept sooner. I refuse to spend any more money on junk-dolls!

as a big lgbtq+ supporter, i personally think that darling's "kiss" to apple isn't love in terms of romance, but rather of friendship. it's kind of like in the movie maleficent, where maleficent kisses aurora's forehead (because she has already thought of her as a daughter and is extremely sad that she put the spell on her) and aurora wakes up because of maleficent's motherly love. i think that's what happened with apple and darling (but this time it's frienship love). BUT it would be interesting if they did turn it into an lgbtq+ plot. darling was a rebel because she didn't want to be a damsel. but now that she finds out that she's actually apple's destined "prince", she might turn into a royal (like how briar and ashlynn turned into a rebel). and we only got to see apple and daring talk about it, but we never saw apple and darling. i would love the idea of apple being confused and lost because of her destiny. because she was always a HUGE royal but now that she finds out that her prince is actually a girl, i would love to see her question her destiny and her choices (whether she should be a royal or rebel). i would love to see them talk it out and just imagining them having an awkward conversation about it makes me excited (although i kind of ship darling and chase, i would also love if they progress more on the applexdarling ship). i really hope mattel revives eah and have a HUGE comeback, because so many questions are still unanswered

i saw a comment once saying that darling realized/theorized that she might be the chosen "prince" for apple, so she decided to test the waters and kiss apple... and surprise surprise, it worked.
ever since watching that vid, i now believe the comment that ive read before. so my opinion really didnt change much, i used to believe that the reason why darling's kiss worked because she loves apple as a friend... but now i believe that the reason why her kiss worked was because she was the chosen "prince" of destiny.

Honestly, I felt that Ever after high should have come out before Monster high, because it had so much potential with the world building, characters, animation, story, and character designs only for it to be cut down and replaced with something that left alot of fans disappointed. Looking back at ever after high's videos, doll unboxing, and toy fairs LITERALLY hurts to see just how hard they'd fallen. Before the dolls, we're so beauiftul and so well made, but you could see that the company was struggling to produce them.
Lizzie hearts in the tv show had red and black gloves and her hairstyle was way fuller. Instead the doll had all black gloves and the hair was trapped by the crown and over gelled.
Kitty looked NOTHING like she did on the show! Kitty cherise skin tone was purple and her armbands we're molded on black pieces as well as her shoes. A fan even brought up that Kitty should have had a molded on smile like Claudia wolf from Monster high's "Frights, camera, action" If there was ONE doll that could've had those printed on smiles and get away with it would have been her.
Duches swan was a whole other story. The one that we saw on the show and the doll looked nothing like each other!
Daring charming doll was a prime example of mattel just not putting in the effort into there dolls as they once had been.
I felt like Ever after high should have kept producing dolls with effort even if disney's descendent was rising. Would have given the consumer more options on what to buy. Besides competition is a great motivator. Even MGA should have made there line "twisted" right when ever after high was approaching cancellation. I just felt so robbed of what might have been.
I don't collect the dolls but I am really invested in the story. I really wanted to see how their story ended. It's ok by me if the show and the dolls don't come back but they could at least bullish more books or something 🙁

I agree. Never got into MH cause I’m not really into the monster/ goth genre, and the designs just didn’t appeal to me the same as EAH. But, that’s just my opinion 🤷♀️

Ever After high was canceled because ( and this is from my research)
Ever After high was the sister Doll line to MH, But when Disney’s Descendants came out, people thought that EAH copied Disney. But in actuality- After the Movies were released descendants wanted to have a doll line because the brand was getting popular.
I also think ever after high was canceled because of the LGBTQ+ couples , three marketed it to young kids and tweens but I think it’s the parents fault. Mattel didn’t want to market Darling as a lesbian or bisexual or Apple white as bisexual-
So In my case, the reason EAH , both the doll line and the Show, were canceled was because
A) they didn’t want to market LGBTQ+ to little kids
B) when desendants was released it all went down hill

I have 2 EAH dolls, Darling Charming and Raven Queen, and they're 2 of my favorites. I was happy with the ones I had, since they were 2 of my fav characters, and I never noticed that EAH dolls disappeared from the toy section. I feel sad that they're gone now :( The series was so good! RIP EAH...
I remember only getting to watch eah/mh at my friends house because my mom “didn’t like how they wore their makeup” in the show. I remember watching almost all the episodes as a kid, but not really getting into the storyline (we didn’t watch the episodes in order) but somehow, every eah clip here I’ve seen before. Lots of nostalgia.
Pfft Mattel would’ve been just fine if she just stuck with monster high and ever after high originals and then guess what she would be rich
(mini rant, TLDR: I love this show and it deserves more funding and longer episodes-)
ever after high gave us startlingly complex characters and themes, subverted well-known stories, and overall has incredible lore- from wonderlandian magic systems in the show and books, to the family relations and secret home lives of many characters. The show understood it's characters surprisingly well- apple tries to do good but she has a flaw of selfishness and hubris, she's privileged and it shows, but she has constantly worked to change. Briar struggles with her destiny, and the knowledge she has to sleep for a hundred years, and when it isnt being played for jokes- her character is possibly the most sympathetic on the show (in my opinion, feel free to disagree). Not only that, but Darling and Apple and Daring and Rosabella make for such interesting characters??? Like- the reveal that yes, Darling is meant to be the hero of Apple's journey, and Daring is meant to be the beast in Rosabellas matches so well with their actual character- Darling's growth to prove that she isn't a princess and that girls can carry her family's legacy, and Darings journey from self-centered egotism to learning how to stop focusing on himself, and start focusing on those he cares for, is so good. I think that it worked out so well, because the show goes out of its way to destroy preconceived notions. The popular girl and the popular jock aren't perfect, just because something is assumed doesn't make it true, and that people change- they always can. Raven's actions in denying a path laid out for her suffering at the hands of others basically allowed for everyone around her to realize more about themselves and grow into stronger characters, and I love that. I love the mix of fairy tales, the way destinies can't be written out because no destiny is ever fully decided, people make their own destiny, and I love the way they make every character so interesting and complex.

I love this video so much... my mom didn’t like the MH edgy stuff (not that she was a person to complain to the company about monster high being too edgy) but we still liked to watch MH movies. I had over 100 EAH dolls and I’m pretty sure I had one every character they sold. I even had the castle.... this video brings back so many lovely memories of me sitting on my tablet late at night playing the EAH app and watching all of the short videos- I loved those videos... no no actually I was fascinated with the short videos. I know MH is way more popular now/talked about now but honestly when my parents first got Netflix I watched those EAH movies and I was in-love. So sad the last Christmas I got dolls (over 4+ years ago) the eah dolls where cheap and had no charm.. and I never got them again. I am glad I have first edition dolls with all of the beautiful details and I will cherish those forever.

I have a lot of EAH dolls and my sister has some descendants when compared the EAH have much better quality
the first decendants was fine because it had a story but after that it just became another disney movie. EAH was my childhood. I sat there for literally hours rewatching with my sister. I remember one birthday my sister got the books and a raven outfit lol. I loved themmmm
