    I bought my car new in 2013 and have never changed the battery. Today it didn't work first time, and I got a message that I need to replace the key battery. Thank you for the video

    Thank you very much, my car is just over a year old and I have got messages to replace the battery, never had to do this before on even a 3 year old Polo, not impressed with Skoda. This video made it a simple cheap task for me to do myself....

    Just bought myself a 2009 Fabia, still waiting for the paperwork to clear to take it on the road. This channel is a godsend as i'm, well buying a 2009 car, a bit short on cash. But this is grand to better understand the car and how to maintain it. Sure i could figure out keybatt but the series in a whole are quite comforting to have. You got yourself a sub my man. Thanks for the good work ! Much appreciated!
    *Anything you know that is prone to issues and i should check when getting the car ?

      Thanks for the support, great that you are buying a newer fabia, you didn't mention which engine or box, (I wouldn't go for the DSG) but no worries just make sure, as much as you can that it has been regularly serviced, maintained with receipts for parts. Have a look at the MOT history online if you are in UK or any other history check system you can as these may show you where to check on the car first and can give you an idea of how the previous owner looked after it. Keep an eye on oil/fuel usage, any strange noises, creaks and electrical issues, central locking, door lock and some still report water leaks. Just enjoy the ride my friend, sure it will be fine :-)

      @@HatBoyHarvey Thank for the genuine intrest. I bought it from family, its been well serviced, It should be quite a good deal. But you can always get unlucky with some part desiding to fail offcourse. 1.2L Petrol, 65.000K, manual shift, some sort of fansy version. It being 2009 it has elecric windows, only in the front, heated rear views, and the mirrors are painted in the color of the car. Good buy i think. But in case some little tlhing breaks its good to have your channel to be able to fix it myself and save me the well needed cash. Keep up the good work !

    I have a problem in Security system or alarm system, it just suddenly lost the programming and I can't no more use the remote control key to lock or unlock the car 😒 , I have Skoda Fabia 2003.

      I presume you have tried a new battery, does the led come on? Also main battery needs to show good Volts to work locking. Try opening other doors to see if that makes a difference. pull back the bellows on the A pillar and inspect the wires for fraying and also waggle the connections whilst activating the fob. Pair the key with the car again with another key. Check/replace the door lock/microswitch (common wear fail) and check all connections with panel's off. lastly or firstly diagnostic check. hope this helps :-)

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The later key is easier, just pull off the battery cover in a similar fashion by the key slot and lift out and replace the battery. Only thing to note is there are two types of battery so make sure you look at the number etched on the battery, most common is the CR2032

    Patient: Skoda Fabia 1 Kombi 2005. 1.4 PD-TDI 80KM facelift
    Symptoms:
    Electric front windows automatically lowering (version with electric front windows only). This problem occurs when:
    1) I open the car manually (by turning the key to the left with the key on the driver's door). This problem does not occur when I unlock the car remotely with the key.
    2) I slam the driver's door harder. I have noticed this problem recently. But I did not find any rule that is too big, except that the key must be turned off the ignition. Regarding the slamming of the passenger door, I didn't check it. However, I don't know if the snap power plays a role here.
    I do not know the exact circumstances of this fault, because the car was bought with it.
    Please help

      Detach the bellows by the A pillar, pull back and look at the wires to see if they are frayed at all - also try waggling the connections to see if the problem occurs. The drivers door lock microswitch is prone to wear and caused circuit faults so could be that. Also mine did that once when it was very damp weather, cleared up when dry later. Have you a damp issue in rear footwell?

    I've followed your instructions, the light lights up but it won't open the car! The only way to stop the alarm is by putting the keys in the ignition 🤷🏻‍♀️😔

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@lisagreenhalgh1685 Ok, key fob working, but not activating door lock mech. Check car battery fully charged, check the wires behind the A piller rubber bellows for fraying, check connections to A piller - get OBDII diagnostic test - take inner panel off drivers door - check connections - change door lock mechanism or just micro-switch (common age related failure) see how that goes and report back if u still have issue :-)

      @HatBoyHarvey yep, husband had taken the battery out of my key fob for his van to test it! Didn't tell me he'd done that 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ and put a new one in mine. It just hadn't been done in time 🙄 he'd have been messing with it around half 5 in the morning and I didn't try it until a few hours later 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😂
