I'm a grown ass man but when I watch Prince perform Purple Rain he touches my very soul my core. It' safe to say there'll never be another Prince!!! REST IN PEACE ....
I swear his solo in purple rain during the Super Bowl made me a lifelong fan. I’d known who he was but I was so little but I understood what it was even then what it meant to pour the contents of your heart out all over the floor lol
This is the one song of his that was so hard for me to listen to for at least 2 years after he had transitioned. Even my mom, who's in her 90s, heard a snippet one day and said it's hard to believe he's gone. I really miss him. 😢💜💜💜
I saw the movie on Monday, January 21st, 1985. I was able to keep my cool all the way up until Billy Sparks nodded. As slight a gesture as it was, my eyes got moist.
@@Schwansonian_TownsonianI kinda thought so too. Then I looked closer and realized she already looked emotional when he approached her. And when he kissed her, the face she made was her about to start crying.

@@Sekou-yr2rrit was. He did it when they played Purple Rain for the first time in public (also Wendy's first concert) and surprised her. Then he totaly surprised her again doing it again for the movie. Adorable. In the movie storyline it's even more adorable because he got it first from Appolonia and then when he starts valuing his band more he uses the same gesture of affection for Wendy because she's kinda his best friend. And am I the only one that noticed that before he dissapears off the stage, he touches Wendy's shoulder for one last time. That was so heartbreakingly sweet.💜
I know how you feel! 😢 I kid you not I be leave my mom saw this in the theater around 30 time. After a while she would fall sleep a quarter of the way in and wake up right before this song. Miss her deeply.
Those sing-screams toward the end are just kinda the perfect mix of pain-expressing and soothing. Like actually facing the buried trauma hurts, but letting the pain out feels good in some way. And his shirt getting unbottened like a wound opening on his chest and getting cleaned out of all the pain he's letting from his poor heart is just soo symbolic.
You would have loved it, it was the best Era ever. best Era for movies and music the culture was just rich and full of imagination and creativity that you just don't see anymore, fantastic time to be alive I'm grateful I experienced it!
I know it's 2024 but prince is my favorite artist even though I'm 15 now but his songs are too good this generation will never understand idk if they will.😢
I wish there was a prequel to Purple Rain that explores the backstory of the father Francis L, who seemed to be a prodigious but tormented musician, whose underachievement becomes the backdrop to his treatment of his wife and ultimately, The Kid.
It’s sad when someone who has been a part of creating so many memories becomes a memory themself. Prince has been the soundtrack to my life and I feel so lucky to have seen him live.
I wonder how many times my friends and I watched this movie 💜. I graduated HS in 1985, but I had been a Prince FANATIC since I was in 9th grade from I wanna be your lover, dirty mind and his other early songs. We played those cassettes so many times that the writing rubbed off and you had to pop them into the tape deck to figure out which was which. RIP Purple One 💜 We won’t ever stop listening!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I did see it. He had everyone in the audience crying with lighters lit while he played the guitar solo with the strings illuminating as he played. Unforgettable.... ❤❤❤❤
