  • We are cleaning up between rows and rows of pines for this customer. The area was tight amongst the rows of pines, so we had a lot of handwork on this cleaning up job.

    Tuff mulching situation i.e. tight quarters, yet the result looks like you had all the room in the world to work.

    John, call Tony over at Rut and have him set you up with a disc mulcher for the mini ex. Micah could make one pass with that, do all the trimming and drag the bigger stuff out at the same time. Cut down on allot of the hand work. Get the other blade carrier with it and have the ability to trim/cut the smaller stuff. For the price it would be a good tool to have on some of these jobs with tight areas. Rut is the only one I’ve seen that has the grubbing foot on the back of the attachment which makes it very convenient to move stuff around while still having cutting capabilities. Just my $.02

      Ok recap! 😂 I need to purchase a mini ex, a disc mulcher and what do you mean by the other blade?? I have 6 acres of wooded land I need to clear- full of pine and a few other trees. How much hp do I need on the mini ex?? I do have an incline of about 300’ elevation on my property

    • @AllstarVentures
      @AllstarVentures 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Lollisbeewellorganics I’ve seen guys run them on smaller machines but mine is a 5ton @ 40hp. I’ve heard Rut no longer offers the additional blade carrier for the disc mulcher. It was similar to a brush hog blade carrier. You can check out some of my videos. I have video running both set ups on a JD 50G

    I lived in central Florida, and it was not unusual to see replanted forests on former phosphate mines planted in rows. In fact, this was a dead giveaway as to what was there before the forest.

  • @zachyoung4651

    Man raise that fecon up high as possible and chew those trees in half. Grind the stub from top to bottom with it standing. It’ll save you tons of time chasing chunks around and also keep your teeth out of the ground that much more. Just food for thought, I have about 25 years experience with fecons and all types of carriers.

    I love to watch you guys work, and I love the machinery. But I just hate to see so much waste by grinding up all those lodgepoles. Surely there's a market for them. Fencing, building materials, if nothing else, people pay a lot for firewood. It takes 50 years to grow a decent tree, and 15 minutes to chew it up into sawdust.

    Good day John, I’m going to start by saying I’ve never done anything with forestry mulching.
    I have though worked with Farm equipment and construction equipment off and on for about 45 years to me and you can correct me.
    This is not criticism this is what I see, y’all do a great job of teaching and explaining things, but your skid steer seems under powered.
    The Feecon on the skid loader seems to be under powered or your flow rate is not high enough because it bogs down to easy.
    I’m going to end this by saying I have never run forestry mulching equipment, this is only what I see from my knowledge of other equipment running.
