At 1.54 on what are the 5 pieces ? Their purpose? Does it hold the circulating balls in place? What would happen if those 5 pieces loosens? Would it cause steering wheel play?
Yes those pieces hold the recirculating ball guide in place. Never seen one loose, but if it did it won't go anywhere as the top of it will be prevented from coming out because it is very close to the cylinder bore housing.
