Hope you don’t mind, but, living in the UK there is constant arguments about the right knot to connect the braid mainline to the fluoro leader, but, I notice you use a swivel. Could you please let me know the benefits of using the swivel instead of a knot?

      I feel those are more secure and faster knots on the ends of the swivel vs braid to mono, plus the swivel reduces line twist.

      1/2, 3/4, 1 oz take either forever to fall to the bottom and rise way too high. Tried 2 oz bucktail, swims low enough most of the time, but also can rise some 4 feet off the bottom… trying 3 oz. tomorrow night.

    Hey John, why do you use swivels instead of knots to connect your leader to your main line. I'm getting guys telling me knots are better for the rod guides. But they still hang up when I cast. I believe the swivels.

    • @amos61905
      @amos61905 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      His leader doesn’t go through the guides. It’s like 3-4ft long and the swivel never touches the guides. No line twist with the swivel and I trust my knots better on the swivel.

    Hey John I was wondering if you’ve lost a lot of big bass in your days? My best bass is a 45” ~35 pounder but last year I lost about 7 fish that I believe to have been 45+ pounds and I just can’t seem to get over them and beat myself up about it every time fishing season comes around. I was fortunate to get a nice 30+ pounder last year but those darn 40+ never fail to outsmart me in some way. I’ve had nightmares about my biggest bass that I’ve lost. Do you have any stories about losing a monster? Fishing is so enjoyable yet makes me miserable sometimes. I’ve even lost a few monsters to a darn grey seal snatching it off my line. Just can’t seem to win with them as of yet and with the current state of the fishery seeming to be on the decline not sure if the time will ever come
