I promoted some of my art with one of those accounts once. Pretty much the same experience- although I got extra for some reason? (honestly, a bit confused by that one lol- I did their least expense package) Purely out of curiosity and annoyance as a sort of "Fine! What's the worst that could happen?" Well, I found out pretty quick. Experience basically went as follows: Contacted one of the accounts linked to me by one of those annoying comments and asked for a promotion. They gave me their prices, and I chose the cheapest they had (3 stories and 500 followers for $20). Selected a payment method, paid, and sent 4 pictures (they asked for 4-5 despite it being three stories, who knows why). They did 4 stories (one for each) and they made a post with the four drawings I provided. Almost immediately was flooded with more of those comments than before, lots of spam likes on my posts, and similar accounts approaching me and trying to pitch their own services and prices. I don't recall how many followers I actually gained from the experience, but it was a trip. Also, the couple of friends who know of me paying for it are never letting me live it down which- honestly? Fair. I knew it was a scam but did it anyway because at that point I just wanted to know what would happen if I actually did. I regret it, but I also don't. Take it with a grain of salt, lol.
I've had comments like that on my art Insta page a lot. I never went through with them because I find it to be... Predatory. So, yeah, I don't reach to art promoting pages to get my art. I let the hashtags I put on them do the work, however little attention they get
I get a ton of promotion comments both in my art account and in my amigurumi account. I always ignore them because I had the feeling it was a scam, but hey, thank you for your sacrifice to confirm our suspicions!
I got those same promotion comments ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME. and they were HELLA ANNOYING!!!!!! I got them more than genuine comments from genuine people, which was what I wanted in the first place. I finally managed to learn how to avoid these bot comments though my Instagram settings. Never got them again since! ✨😎

Thanks for doing this. I created my instagram art page not long ago and as a new artist, I wasn't aware of this. I found out after doing some research after receiving some comments and DMs. It's so sad and almost discouraging for all artists out there, especially new artists 🙁
I got comments like these before I even had 20 followers. I've also noticed that Instagram reels are also terrible for this. They'll have millions of likes and no credit, and once you look at the original artist's reel, it'll have a fraction of the views.
I was once lured by a particular (and probably) scam account which looked decent and legit (they had one single name, no symbols or other punctuation characters). They almost got me in but I had completely forgotten that I had to make some payments (which drained most of my finances) so I had do gently decline and ask them to complete the deal in 3 weeks time. 2 day later my account got shut down by facebook because apparently I bought likes and followers through other apps, which wasn't true because I hardly earned my 400 followers in 5 years with a 100 drawings; and that scam account was the fist and only test I didn't even made in the end. Now the only thing I can think of is that I got flagged by this scam account 🤷🏾♀️
