I was super surprised and pleased to hear you talking about the Venture Bros! Anyway, what, you stopped playing video games? What will I do when I run out of Previously Recorded content?!
The 2005 Hitchhiker's guide had a lot of good in it! Henson puppets, John Malkovich, the performances were all spot on (even if I don't totally agree with Sam Rockwell's version of Zaphod); the issue I have with the movie was the totally forced love plot. I find the Hitchhiker's guide series in general an awfully bad place for romance as the style is usually so detached, this can be evidenced in the fourth book of the series as well when arthur returns to an alternate earth and falls in love with a human.
the original tombraider games were most definitely action games you ran around with multiple weapons shot bad guys and monsters. .the puzzle solving and level navigation were difficult because, of early 3D controls. the actual puzzles weren't too different from the ones you come across in the reboot.
My problem with this Tomb Raider game was that it wasn't a Tomb Raider game. It felt like the shootout scenes and set pieces were the central theme of this game. Way too much gun play, not nearly enough puzzle solving.
Fun fact about this game for those that didn't know, it was written by Rhianna Pratchett, daughter of author Terry Pratchett creator of the Discworld novels.

I totally understand why people compare these rebooted Tomb Raider games to Naughty Dog games, but to be fair they are slightly better in that there's more of an open world exploration and a little more agency to how you approach each situations (stealth or guns.. or bow & arrows... a blazing). Arguably these games kind of feel more like Horizon Zero Dawn or the Assassin's Creed games than any Naughty Dog game.
The tomb raider games have devolved into action shooter games with a an emphasis on that. They should just be Laura going after an artifact in a tomb and then she might get caught up in a story where she needs to gather items that need to be raided from tombs to get. You can have the action survival stuff too but the focus should be on raiding tombs. Solving complex puzzles should be the crux of the game. Not linear gun battles and boring far cry survival shit.
Take any Aliens movie and replace the androids with a Muppet. Muppet Ash trying to kill Ripley...talking about perfect organisms....Ripley being shocked that Bishop isn't a real person.
I'm getting Metroid: Other M flashbacks from this stupid internal monologue. Can't we have a videogame protagonist who's inner thoughts are cheerful, funny, or barring that at least don't sound completely bored out of their skull?
Gameplay and mechanics are the core elements of a game. But story is what defines everything else : characters, settings, art design, music, etc. As far as I’m concerned, they go hand in hand. For instance, Celeste would be fine as a Super Meat Boy like platformer, but its story elevates it as something I would qualify as superior to SMB.
He got a co-writing credit but I don't know how much new stuff he contributed. Whatever, he really shouldn't have bothered: he was clearly bored with the whole thing and doing it for the money by the time Mostly Harmless came out.

Yeah, they absolutely tutned this into uncharted. They took out the tomb raiding ffs! Has anyone played the recent tomb raider? Is it similar to the first reboot? As a fan of tomb raider 3, would i enjoy it?
If you play Shadow of the Tomb Raider on hardest exploration and puzzle difficulty I think you will enjoy it. Much less focus on combat in Shadow and most of it can be played through with some fun stealth mechanics. The puzzles are much better in Shadow. Make sure to hit all the optional tombs and crypts as well.
It's so Rich Evans to dismiss this out of hand because she doesn't start the game as comic book hero, hard titted, back flipping dual wielding Indy Jones in a teal swimsuit. "disguised qte fist fights" what are you even talking about? uncharted 4 has some really good cover shooting where you're never allowed to stay behind one cover for too long and there's environmental gimmicks like rope swings and slides that you have to utilize in order to avoid fire. every enemy encounter takes place in a highly vertical piece of environment where you can switch between stealth and cover shooting depending on the situation. i won't defend the pointless climbing sections but name me one other tps where you can rope swing and jump into the air and then take out an enemy below you with a melee attack
Ninteny "you're never allowed to stay behind cover for too long" -sounds like you're describing a game which is deciding when and where you'll be in cover, instead of letting the player figure that out through trial and error. Look, I can't speak for Rich but Jack has said that he's playing Witcher 3 and that's heavily story-driven. But it's also a video game. The point is that in a video game you should have the freedom as a character not only to do what you want but also to drive and have an impact on the story. Ivan Cantero Muñoz Nu Lara doesn't have much of a bust. Also Rich Evans called this game to a tee.

Sluggy Freelance, really? Is that a "Jack" thing?

Same. I was playing on a low end laptop so was 100% sure it was the pc's fault. Turns out it might not have been.

Rich is ignorant
i really want to go full crocodile brain on rich for his constant whining about these types of games but its easier to just watch something else.
game fuckn sucks!
Does not pay any attention to the game, calls it generic and casual.
