Great video George! That Camillus looks like the Wireman’s Knife that was issued to us by Uncle Sam, except that our issue knives had black scales.
Colonial Knives were the first I owned, and I have a small collection of them. I don’t know a lot about them, but the company was formed between the 2 World Wars. They made knives for the Navy and Air Force, and are still in business today.
Sorry you broke the scales on the Colonial folding knife, but I think I know you and that Colonial knife will be back, only better than it ever was!
Yep. It's a pity they didn't keep track. I love em old ones. Working on the scales...lol. be safe my friend
Another great video brother, if you dont fail, you never learn ,my friend.God bless you and your family, and happy camping 🏕 😀 😊 🙏. Lee
Yep, I hear you there...learning alot these days from this stuff..lol. or maybe just getting old......best to you and yours my friend
Don’t be sorry George you’re not a robot
Thanks for sharing
Yes sir. A little frustrating, but working o. A fix. Hope all is good. Be safe my friend
Bully for you, George. I really appreciate your honesty.
Lol...if it works it works if not, we'll you learn with me...lol. many thanks for the support. Be safe
That is why we watch. My favorite Opinel is their mushroom knife, it has a hawk bill blade and a brush embedded in the other end. It came with a canvas sheath also.
Yep seen that. Probably best shroom knife out there 👌 be safe
My Pal George, have I been in you're shoes??
You bet, so many times, over and over but sometimes stuff works and it it a happy day once again😊. My mom always told me good things come to those who wait.. She just tell me how long I had to wait.😅
I hear you. But persistance can pay off at times...I hope. Be safe sir
You know what they say George if it breaks it needed to be replaced anyway! Great job on the other knives!👍
Lol..true story. Thanks my friend. Be safe
I wish I could have watched this with my coffee this morning but I was camping lololo. I enjoyed the video. If you remember the sixties you weren't there lololo. Well done George !
Lucky you. It's been raing here for weeks, flooding etc. Be safe my friend
Haha, doesn’t suck sometimes when it used to take us 60’s babies 10 minutes to do something & now it takes us 2 or more hours to figure it out 😩. I think we had way too much fun in the 70’s. I no I did 😵💫. Great video again 2CG!
Lol..ain't that the truth...be safe my friend
I thought it was just the right amount of fun! I did live thru it and have great memories .
Yep too
The relief cutaway on the back of the screwdriver blade of the electricians knife is just so you can get to the nail nick on the blade while both blades are closed. Thanks for the video.
Ahh ok good info. Be safe, appreciate the support
Hello George! Just wanted to let you know, that Camillus really brings back the memories. My Dad gave me the same knife (only with the black scales) as my very first pocket knife at age 6. It only took me about 5 minutes to then get my first "nip" from it! My Dad looked down at my bleeding finger and said, "Well, did you learn a lesson, son?" as he chuckled and got the bandaids out. I loved that knife and carried it for a couple of years, taking it out of my sock drawer every day once I got home from school, whittlin' every stray stick I could find. Sadly, it is long gone except for the memories.
You've done a great job cleaning it up! Keep up the videos, I really enjoy them!
I suspect alot of us out there got into knives that way, that's why we tend towards tradition pattern knives. Muscle memory 💪. I saw that because my real memory is going fast...lol. glad you enjoyed it. Be safe thay sharp and...oh wait you learnt that early...just saying.
Hi George, forget the plastic scales on the Colonial knife. Pin the knife without the plastic scales and made a new wooden scales that you can glue on top of the steel sides and make the small holes for the bail.
Hmmm. I like that 💡...thankyou. aporeciatevthe support. Be safe out there 👍
Hi George good luck with the knife 🔪 👌👌👍from Peter 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Cheers mate, ...been working on it. Appreciate the support. Be safe out (down) there.
Glad the Evapo Rust worked out for you George.
Thankyou sir, that stuff is 👌. Much appreciated forvthe heads up my friend. Be safe
👍🏼it was going so good. 2 out of 3 isn’t bad. 🙂
New red scales; you’ll probably have it looking even better than it was. 👍🏼

Yes Ma'am. That knife is awesome. Realky good shape 👌. Going to come up with a work edc pouch for it. Be safe young lady.
Great job, nothing is a mistake if you fix it.👍
Yep, I hear you...working on the fix now...I hope.. be safe my friend
Good morning George. Watching your video before I head to work. I have a old Kline electricians knife. Problem is I can't find it?? Hopefully it turns up at some point. You have a great day George. See ya.🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥
It will when you least expect it. Be safe my friend
Great job, George!
Lol..well mostly, but it's a learning process for me. Hopefully I can figure it out. Thanks for watching always appreciated. Be safe my friend
Quite a learning curve but nothing lost experience gained and nice new scales I mean the old ones were not special in any way, it will be a better looking knife so a positive outcome. 😁
Yep. I hear you. New scales will look nicer. I just got yo figure them out...lol.
Appreciate your support my friend and be safe
Thank you for sharing George. I have always been curious how slip joint knives are pinned together. I'm going to have get some of that rust remover, have one knife with rust on the blades. Take care.
Yep...found out the hard way...lol.fun to work on though, be safe my friend
Great work!
It's a shame that the red handles broke.
Yep, lesson learned..lol. be safe my friend
Hey George. I have restored a few electrician knives recently. I really enjoy them. Quick comment/question not related to knives. Have you ever tried smoked spam. I take spam and score a diamond pattern on one of the flat sides and put a bbq rub on the spam. Smoke it at a max of 225 degrees for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Slice it for sandwiches or dice it and cook with eggs n cheese and eat on a burrito.
Lol...nice. BUT...Doctors orders. After my heart surgury I had to change my diet. I have high cholesterol which is not good to no fatty, or red meat. Basically vegetarian diet with skinless bone less chicken once a week for protien...it was hard at first but I'm still standing so there that. Appreciate the support my friend. Ok ..I do sneak a steak about once every month or so. Lol
Outstanding ‼️
Lol..not so much...got beat by a Colonial that's older than me.....just saying..mlol. thankyou again my friend always appreciated
Great video George
Lol...thankyou...Inthink. it was hard to publish this one....the horror. But here we are learning.....be safe my friend
You can fix it,you have the technology!! Lol
Ummmm...not really...lol. but I do have persistance on my side....I think. Lol. Be safe my friend
First again. Too hot to be out there in the sun.
Lol..what sun???. Been raining here for a week solid...the horror. Be safe my friend always appreciate your support.
👍
Thankyou 😆 appreciate your support
Make wood scales
Yep. Thought about that and have another knife project that needs scales, mYbe these tooo. Thanks for watching, as always be safe
Love the knife restorations George the Camillus electricians cleaned right up with that really awesome rust remover and the french opinel lol came out really nice too! The Colonial looks like it was a booger bear but I saw somewhere in the comments about doing wooden scales and I have to agree that would add so much character!
Yep agree, I made some new ones but came across the same issue, so probably wood it is.. stay tuned 😉
@@2ndchancegeorge Woot :)
Merry will help clean the mess, the Colonial is a tricky knife to restore, unlike the saks, thanks sharing the experience with us, George.
Lol...so I found out....Merry has already given advise...typical Boss. Be safe
Do you not believe in using wood filler?
Don't know about that, how?
I think JB weld makes a good wood filler, I have not found it yet. Seemed to work well in the video I watched and if I remember right it can be stained .
Yes you can. I did it with a mod I did
