Fun talk as always. I try to tell people what Bermuda wants and needs to grow fast and thick, must of the time people do what they want. Especially with small bare spots or where something was removed, the Bermuda will spread and cover up the spot in a season or two. Water, Sun, fertilizer. Pay when done Thank you.
On the ones that pay monthly year round I still show up. I may skip cutting but I'll touch up a tree or bushes or beds etc. I don't want them to feel cheated if I don't go all month.
I agree Ray that paying per service is the best way to go. I have about 80% of my clients pay per service. I probably have 5% that pay up front each month and 15% that pay at the end of the month. I’m okay with monthly as long as things go okay and I build trust with the client. Also with businesses and HOAs you almost have to go monthly to get the work.

I charge everyone on the 1st of the month for the cuts that are scheduled for month. That way I have my money first before I cut. I have zero issues with that.

Most of mine pay at the beginning of the month and show up regardless. If I dont cut I may spray. Or do a few odd and ends instead. A few pay per cut and those I will skip if asked.
I like to get paid time off service, I have a few that’s monthly and a few that paid for the year, it’s easier for me to keep up with, if I have a choice of go cut a monthly or go cut a pay at service, I’m cutting time of service first
I do biweekly payments. If I have a customer wanting to pay monthly I kindly explain to them that you are wasting money that way because I will add a minimum of 10% and if you decided to not have it mowed because of it being too dry or for any other reason then you still owe me the agreed amount plus the minimum 10%. That usually shuts up a customer about paying monthly when you tell them they will pay you whether you mow or not and it will cost a minimum of 10% more.

If a customer calls and wants it done early because of an event/holiday, I will fit them into the schedule for an additional 15% to interrupt my weekly schedule. Just food for thought, I'm not trying to be hard on my customers but they have to remember my time and other customers are just as important as they are!

Damn that’s actually kinda cheap for sod in my area, I charge $950-1,100 per pallet based on logistics, if they getting more than 1 I cut them a deal
That's what I charged last year .I'll probably be charging like 800 now
MAKE it worth your time put a fee on monthlies.
I usually don’t have an issue with getting paid and the ones that have been in the past I require they put card on file
