Hopefully that reference makes sense. :) The pressure between the pins is fairly significant with the offset so the soldering is largely unnecessary as well. The brand of liquid tape I use tends to get pretty hard after 3 or 4 days and I like the idea of encasing it once and for all in the hopes of never having to mess with it again.
