Forest Guardian | Turn-around 3D model showcase

  • Forest creature, Forest Guardian? Nature Elemental Mouse? the answer is yes. This is a month-long project I am tackling for Harvey Havrilesko in my Project and Portfolio 6 developmental course. I was aiming for a stylistic art style similar to Riot Games or Blizzard. Week 1 will be medium-details in preparation for retopology, UVs, and high-resolution details for week 2, week 3 will be Baking and texturing, and week 4 will be lighting, refinement, and the overall presentation of my asset. As for my process: I wanted to try my hand at stylized hand-painted textures similar to Riot Games and/or Blizzard. I Started by sculpting medium and high res details in Zbrush, retopologizing in Maya, texturing, and finally rigging and posing in Maya. I created the hand-painted textures for the leaves, Flowers, and butterflies in Photoshop. As for the rest of the body, I used a Procedural wood texture and the regular PBR workflow in Substance Painter. #shorts
