Hi! I would love it if you could walk us through a typical day in a UK doctors life. 😊 What's the morning commute like? Can I bike to work? What do you do on duty? What's the work environment like? What are your colleagues like? How do you spend leisure time? Etc etc etc. 😊
Hi! Thanks for your comment! This is actually a great idea, and I’m already trying to think of ways I can make something like this. Might be a while though!
Hello Dr Mischka ! First of all THANK YOU for your lovely UKFP Videos. I am looking to apply in UKFP 2023 however I have a doubt. My university gives the degree After we do 1 year internship , we can only get a "provisional certificate" before that. Will the GMC recognise that provisional certificate for my registration before UKFP starts ? Because if I do my internship I'll be ineligible for UKFP. Will be grateful if you reply. Thanks
Hi! That's a tough one because I've not heard or read the GMC discerning between a provisional and full degree certificate. I think this is something you might need to discuss with the GMC! If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me on my instagram @mischkamoss :)
Hey , I am from India and start collecting notes for plab , I will ask few questions / doubts later , please reply ,That will be very helpful, Thank you so much
Hey pretty.. clear my doubt please. If Non English speaking mbbs Doctor do master’s in the uk, so ilets requirements for the plab booking will be exempted or not ?
Hello Doc. Im from India, I did my PMQ from OLFU, Valenzuela. I completed my clerkship from Philippines as well and then came back to India. The medical council here already accepts clerkship as internship since both were hands on training and we rotated in different departments. I also have my permanent license as a doctor here in India My question is will clerkship be considered equivalent to internship while applying for GMC registration so that I can get into FY2 directly. I can’t do internship back here again, since I already have my permanent license. And If not can I apply for FY1 jobs ?
Clerkship is not valid or not equivalent to internship. So you have to do internship in order to enter into FY2. I’m in the same boat, graduated from Philippines
Hi there! Thanks for the question. When I applied to the Foundation Programme, I had also just done clerkship (4th/final year in medicine) but did not take internship. This allowed me to join the 2-year Foundation Programme and start as an FY1 with provisional registration. Most likely, your clerkship will not be counted as an internship, therefore you should be eligible for provisional registration aka applying for FY1 posts. I hope that answers your question!
However, in addition, if you have not done an internship in the Philippines, but have worked already with your license in India, then that might change things and the GMC may count this as "post-graduate clinical experience". I would suggest checking their website for details on this :) www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/join-the-register/registration-applications/application-guides/full-registration-for-international-medical-graduates
Hi! Like I mentioned in the video, there are lots of online question banks available that cost around £25 for a 3 month subscription. My favorite is plabable. Both my sister and I used plabable, and my sister also went to their free and paid webinars and she got a great score at the end :) Regarding going for PLAB vs USMLE, I’m not too familiar with how to go about further specialist training in the US, although I heard it’s extremely competitive. Hope that answers some of your questions :)
