      My mom got a C-difficile bacterial infection after going to the hospital and I got her on a probiotic that's available in health food stores, they use it in Europe to treat it, and it literally saved her life. She had chronic diarrhea which this can kill some 80+ year olds. So the gut microbiome is real. I also work in Veterinary medicine and they have found out that dogs anxiety is caused by imbalances in their microbiome. The Vet that I work with who's super western is using a probiotic for dogs and their anxiety and getting great results. This is the future! Thanks Friedberg!

      Hot take: this isn’t a scientific podcast. Much rather hear them talk about macroeconomics, markets, VC, etc. With all due respect to Friedberg (and chamath) he isn’t a scientist. This podcast does butcher topics (Alzheimer’s, SSRIs, ADHD horribly). Stick with what you are an expert in. If I wanted to listen to a science or medical podcast there are a deluge to listen from. Banning users based on if they are in a “manic state” instead of for specific content is a horrible idea

    • @goodboysongs
      @goodboysongs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Also completely unenforceable because a “manic state” is undefinable en masse. Only a close contact (family or friend) or psychiatric professional with individual experience could make that designation of a manic episode.
      What is a manic state for one person is an hour after having coffee for another.
      Would it be algorithmically enforced based on certain individually specific keywords and/or rate of tweeting?
      Or would it be other users hitting a “report suspected manic user” button that would become the job of some minimum wage worker to manually review?
      What psychological training or special knowledge would these manual reviewers have?
      How do you control people mashing the “manic” button in coordinated response to any tweet of a figure they don’t like?
      The use of speech on a platform should just be regulated according to the speech laws of the country the platform is based in. No incitements to violence, fighting words, or calls for riots, etc.
      Yes, that means governing the speech of the entire world by the legal precepts of a single country’s political process, but much better that than the precepts of a handful of Silicon Valley executives, or worse, a legion of faceless coders.

    • @BuceGar
      @BuceGar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Calacanis and Chamath are leftists, and are simply looking for new ways to control the speech of others. Everything that comes out of their mouths are pure emotional appeals. The only solution to bad information is good information. I understand moderation to some degree, but saying who can and can't reach other people seems like a really slippery slope. Who determines this? Where does it stop? I would recommend the ability to "silence" accounts you don't want to see, instead of blocking someone's voice from reaching other people. In theory, anyone would effectively leave all threads related to any particular account. Those who don't want to see someone on the platform anymore can silence it for themselves instead of saying nobody else can see it. The difference is leaving the conversation when it becomes too hot for someone, but it doesn't stop conversations from happening.

    Another great show that brings value to anyone who can listen to small things they mention that relates to the news,business,personal or life in general that isn’t biased. Just four guys having a great conversation with their personal opinions that they don’t take personally and great business experience. Love to be a part of this experience every week! Besties forever!

    The comments section was integral for Joe Rogan’s growth on TH-cam before he cashed out with Spotify.
    It would be idiotic to remove this opportunity to boost signal over noise by killing comments.
